Golf 8 GTI Clubsport driver here: The Akrapovic exhaust definitely needs at least 20,000 kilometers before the final sound comes out. When I picked it up from the factory, I also thought it was too quiet. But you really have to give the exhaust system time, then it will be great and the bangs will be really loud despite the OPF! ✌️
I bought a CS muffler for my US mk8. It's definitely louder than the stock US muffler, but do you think with sufficient use it'll liven up even more? I only have ~6800mi on the car total and maybe only a few hundred miles on the CS muffler.
yeah this definitely seems to be the case, as it was the same with my Polo GTI with Miltek exhaust. First sounded underwhelming, now all of a sudden I can clearly hear the burps and deeper tone after about 20kkm.

As an American watching this, my anxiety-meter got pretty dang high once speeds got faster than 220 kph! Glad to know the car can hit those speeds, in Germany where other drivers reliably remain in the right lane! Here in American (Florida, to be exact), such a speed would result in my death... but good to see someone else get that fast!

Der Golf 8 R Facelift ist richtit schön geworden! Es ist und bleibt soundtechnisch ein 4-Zylinder, aber dafür performt er richtig gut! Die 100/200 Messung zeigt wie gut er marschiert. Ein neuer Mustang Dark Horse mit knapp 150PS mehr kann das nicht schneller.

Cool car, way better than pre facelift. I can't get over touch buttons on steering wheel. I hope they will re-introduce normal ones in next model year. It will be interesting comparison to Cupra Leon as they got same engine and chassis now. //edit Ye, the sound is terrible, considering it has 4k € exhaust, but it was never strong side of EA888 engines anyway, so i don't mind. At least it will be silent when doing long distance trips (hopefully).

@@luciussander8217 some actual cars are way less muted than golf 8r even with restrictions . golf 8r has bad sound during acceleration when you re starting to reach 3K rpm , sound like an electric. i know it because i followed my own car driven by a friend . & i was driving my friend's car , i asked him to accelerate with my car in mountain , couldnt even hear the 8R with wide opened window (i have akra on 8r). like 0 sound i was shocked
I actually prefer OPF and DPF over none. Have to park near my house wall and the wall is white. So i don’t like the dirt from no filter cars on the wall

Because of the 'R' on the steering wheel. This is the only model that still has it. They didn't want to rework it because of that little 'R' but they reworked the haptic sensors so it works better now

Facelift because it didn’t look that great prior to facelift. That’s because VW doesn’t just put the clubsport face on the damn car. The clubsport face MK8 and MK8.5 is what looks good. The GTI and R are just ok.

Sehe ich absolut genau so. Sieht richtig gut aus und geht wie Sau für 333PS.

I would say YES, in general there are no bigger differences. But I think you can feel the light wheels, agility feels good in this 8.5

Facelift RS3 is only cosmetic, so 0-100 etc will be same, i.e a lot faster than any Golf R.

Thing is the old mk 8 did 0 to 60 in some cases under 4 .2 seconds. Plus that screen must conter the weight of the 19s alloys...
100kmh is 62mph but, the old mk8 R did do 0-100 faster at 4.4 seconds.

I have an 8R with 245kw, it does 4.21s corrected to 100kmh. Launch in Nurburgring mode is faster than in Race mode.
