I worked a wire drawing machine at a aluminum rod mill. We cast bar to rod and drew the rod down to wire. I would hate to have to do it this way.

The conductivity of this wire will not be good unless they are only using pure aluminum or high conductivity alloys like 1199 or 1350 as their feedstock. Also, that slug punch drawing method has a high risk of slag/dross inclusions at the sections of wire formed from the top ends of the slugs since the slug ends aren't trimmed off.
