There is also another good reason why cash brought leaves: Saplings. When the lava stops rising, Cash and Nico won't have enough food together. By breaking the oak leaves, they can grow the saplings that drop and grow them to make a tree. Once the tree grows, they can break the leaves and collect apples. This scenario is only if they didn't collect seeds. If they collect a lot of seeds, the saplings still come in handy because, with the wood, they can make a hoe to till the dirt into farmland. After they collect the grown crops, there is a chance that the farmland will revert to dirt, so the wood can make them infinite hoe to till the dirt back to farmland. Nice thinking Cash🙂.
