Jesus christ, Ya'll killed this! Every other Hotline Miami short film I found was extremely gung-ho with glorified violence, but it missed the core of hotline miami. The moment when the music stops and the hypnosis ends, and you are left to cope with the atrocities you just committed as you began your trek towards the entrance. I think this was executed beautifully.
This is the best Hotline Miami fan film on RUclips. Period. I'm making an adaptation feature film of Hotline Miami next year, so this is defenitely something to aspire to. You guys captivated the twisted man that Jacket is beautifully, and I mean come on, New Order, who can't fucking love a bit of New Order? Hella good film guys, bravo.

im a little late to the party but this is the best hotline miami short film ive seen! really slick action. loved the end! had me smiling, gasping and laughing the whole time

You put a lot of effort into this and I intend on sharing it. I really enjoyed the twist at the end and the music fits the scenes so well. Whoever was recording this must have gone to school because they did a great job setting up the angles and lighting. My chief complaint is that the fight scenes are slow paced. What I mean by that is in the game you kill guys fast while it takes a minute or 2 just to kill 1 guy. 3:00 that fast paced combat would have been perfect because despite getting hit with a hammer he doesn't even scream or yell "HEY THERE'S THIS MASKED ***HOLE KILLING ME!" My gut says that due to lack of people the combat had to slow down otherwise the video would be too short and you can't reuse people (ski masks can help alleviate the problem and some different outfits). I hope I don't seem like a negative nancy because I hope you keep making movies that are as high quality as this. You got yourself a subscriber and I hope to see you post more. :)
I appreciate the criticism no worries! You're right that it is a bit slow. I guess my intention was to make it a bit more believable. Great job! Excellent film. The "Take off the mask" bit reminded of Donnie Darko (One of my favorite movies). Perhaps it was a bit of an homage to it, or inspired from it? Either way, thanks for making this. Subbed.

It's supposed to be jacket's acknowledgement of the murders he's committed like in the original game when the music stops and that dreadful tune starts playing as you walk back to your car passing every single person you've killed it's pretty well placed if you ask me

Especially till it seems to be pretty low budget and yet it outperforms alot of other productions but let's talk real for a min : Why did nobody took care of paying a tribute to the game's core design ? I mean is there anyone who had the guts to film a fight scene (IRL fanmade and Machinima's(I k the term "machinima" ain't exactly correct but I don't have any other word in mind)) from above ? There is plenty of movies wich had some great ideas with how to make something original from a fight scene : Old Boy, Matrix, ect ... I mean, the idea was obvious to me that if you do a Hotline Miami themed movie you HAVE TO film a fight scene from above. So the main question to me is : Is that a artistic bias or is that due to technical issues or difficulties ?
I went for a more traditional approach because I was trying to make it feel like a film adaptation of a game, not an imitation. Sure, we could have imitated the game by having the fight be a bird's eye view, it might have even looked really cool, but then we might as well just play the game instead of watching an imitation of it. Imitation can look really cool, (look at films like Hardcore Henry), but it would be hollow in comparison to actually playing the game because the viewer is not in control. The intention with this film was to take the core mood and story elements of Hotline Miami and create something original and stylized whilst still being recognizable. Hope that made sense.
