- Newly released video from 2022 shows the unbelievable moment a skier plunged into a deep glacier crevasse in the French Alps.
The footage was posted on April 18, 2023, by a group of skiers calling themselves ‘The Powtos,’ who were skiing a glacier near La Grave, France, when one came across a deep hole and didn’t have enough time to avoid it.
According to remarks given to local media, the skier fell about 15 meters down, but was safely rescued by the group, who were equipped with ropes, harnesses, and other tools.
The group waited to share the video on social media because they were unsure of the reception it would receive, but decided it could be used to educate.

I have no clue how this dude stayed so calm as he was falling to potentially his death. If not a death from impact, possibly a death from starving because nobody is able to find you or help you in any way. Absolutely terrifying!

Glaciers can be as deep as skyscrapers are tall. If you fall into one of its ravines, you won’t be found for a few thousand years at least.

He actually gets out by self rescue. Hes skiing in the north pole, this is pretty common over there. In his backpack he has equipment to climb out of there. Also, hes friends threw down a rope for him.

That's just a crevasse, why would you wanna go into it? It's the same all the way but it just gets tighter and eventually you find water. If you wanna see how it looks inside then just search up "Exploring a glacier crevasse"
