I have a Pfiff scooter trike for over a year now.it came with all essentials for road safety such as lights, dynamo, defderntis and bell. Only complaint is saddle. It should have a better seats like most recumbent trikes. Because of this it is nit suitable for long rides. This also need more gears to climb easily. Even for suburban neighborhood five gears are not enough. Reverse gear is a blessing. Having been made of steel (and heavy) its MSRP compete with trikes made of aluminum, that is more price to pay. Sturmy Archer gear hubs are claimed of good quality by media but in my case 4th gear is not failing.hope next version would be better at a better price. It would have been nice if basket was lockable. Since this bike is for older adults, consider having Tannus airless tires so there won’t be a road side puncture shop to open.😊
Don’t underestimate the difference, especially when you’re used to riding a 2wheel-bike. If you’re not, you will have no problem. Not only for the handicapped. It’s also and especially ideal for seniors : When people riding bikes get older they often experience more fear of falling that leads to being uncertain on the “normal” bike. The tricycle is the next step to be able continuing riding and excercise outside (physical and social wellbeing) for the seniors + preventing accidents and broken hips for instance. Everyone who is familiar with riding the 2wheelbike, will experience the unnatural feeling that the tricycle gives at first. Because on the tricycle you have to let go the balancing you were used to do automatically. And for older people who used to balance the bike their whole life, it’s heavier to let go and trust the fact that you cannot fall than it is for younger people. So if you never ride a 2wheelbike, you will have no problem to adjust because you have not learned to balance. Anyone can ride it though with some help at first to go as slow as you can, keep looking forward where you want to go and keep your feet on the pedals. Pull on the brakes after every few pedal strokes, stop, put the steering wheel in the right position, look forward and continue slowly, pull the breaks again and so on. Take a pause every 10 minutes or so because the unnatural feeling is tiring. Each time you climb back on the saddle, you will feel the improvement. No wonder that the number of Dutch seniors choosing a tricycle grows by the day. Freedom ! If anyone wants to get help in getting used to the tricycle, you can turn to the Dutch Fietsersbond and ask for instructions.
I'm handicapped I bought a Trike and trained my Dog to pull me. Later I mounted a 1000 Watt electric motor on the front wheel. My Dog still accompanies me but I can ride it on the highways here. 30 mph and a 45 mile range. I will get a truck one day but the Trike, for now, serves me as well as a truck. I NEED this vehicle as much as anyone needs their car or truck. I reccomend one for ALMOST everyone! It does mean, TRULY, FREEDOM, for those who cannot walk very well.
Add an electric motor and EVERYONE including the handicapped can enjoy this Essential TOOL for today's lifestyles! My trike gave me FREEDOM. I can shop, visit friends, walk my dog, just about ANYTHING I want now. I couldnt walk before, but now I can FLY!!! LOL!!! No age limits, registrations, tests. It's just like a horse but you dont have to feed it. Everyone who doesnt need to travel more than 40 miles in one trip should seriously consider buying one of these. It is not a TOY, ir a HOBBY, A TRIKE IS ESSENTIAL! Try it you'll LOVE IT!
i have sold my car and now only use a converted tricycle with 1500w motor. Most important part its highly serviceable, if anything breaks i can replace it! Good luck doing it on a modern car! Oh and no more fuelig gas ever... rain is an issue sometimes, snow isnt with studded tyres...
These bikes are all over Europe. I just picked mine up last weekend. It’s made in the USA by Sun in Miami. It’s great I cannot wait for the snow to melt.
I love bicycling and my thirty-plus road bike is still a favorite, though I haven't ridden it in some time. I and friends rode many a fifty-miler together. I'd love a trike but am concerned about being on the road with cars and trucks.
