All that talk about how special the sound is.... and almost no actual engine noise.
One of my favourite Honda driver of all time, and the legendary First F1 win ever for Honda's all mighty RA272...... Support 110%
Reminds me of the car Pete Aron drove for Izo Yamura in the great movie 'Grand Prix' !!
12000 RPM although high was nofhing compared to the wotks Honda GP bikes, 249/297cc six cylinder revving to 18000. A five cylinder 125cc revving to 22000, all in the late 1960s fantastic machines with incredible sound.
so we barely actually hear the engine.... in this episode.
There were Americans in F1, many forgotten. RIP, Ritchie Ginther.
Legends both.
I often wonder what would have happened had the 3 litre formula been pushed back another year like many of the teams wanted. Honda had made some major improvements to the RA 272 by the end of the '65 season. Had they been able to go into '66 with this car and John Surtees, I suspect they'd have had at least another win prior to the RA 300 victory at Monza in '67.
Dario is will always be a class act
Dario is so damn lucky ... didn't he drive Jim Clark's Lotus last year in one of the R&T magazine articles ??
"your here for a good time....not a long time"
quote on back of helmet
1965 Honda RA 272 classic racing car was awsome. It was GOOD.
La RA 272 est la voiture qui a permis à Honda de remporter sa première victoire en formule 1, C'était le début d'une grande aventure en F1 et le succès est au rendez-vous;

He lives in my hometown! He pulled up to Harris Teeter in a red Ferrari 599 once
all I have to add is:
R.I.P. Jean Schlesser
R&T... any chance you gonna do a auto union v12 formula car from the 30s?
and also yes yes i know this is a V12
@12valvepower4
Obviously the magnesium frame was not 100% magnesium, but a magnesium alloy.
BMW also uses magnesium in their engine, doubt that is 100% magnesium as well, or else you dont get many miles ;)
Fun fact this car is similar to b Dasher in Mario kart ds
You noticed that too!! 😅
Still waiting for "Factory Five" to see this car...
12,000rpm in 1965!
Honda were achieving 22,000 rpm with racing motorcycle engines back then too
3:04 my god it's so small!
I'd take that No. 01 TELMEX BMW Riley. How about throwing me the keys when you're in NJMP in May??
Actually, it's "You're...."
... and Jo Schlesser drove it in the race for the 1968 French Grand Prix at Rouen - and died.
R. I. P.
No, that was the magnesium bodies Honda RA302 in 1968.
Man what crappy mic did they use???

Clickbait. Not a lot of driving. The comparison photo was intresting.
honda had one car with a magnesium frame. if it caught fire.. it could not be put out
That was the RA302 in 1968.
This needed much more of the wonderful sounds of that Honda engine. Very disappointing.
Are there no seatbelts on this thing? lol
Dislike... For talking
