Paradox Interactive, a publisher and developer of games for galaxy brain players, has today announced clusters of festivities across all Stellaris titles to celebrate the four-year anniversary of the popular sci-fi grand strategy game. Additionally, Paradox announced that in March 2020, four years after its initial release, Stellaris earned an all-time high for monthly active users and reached a milestone of over three million units sold.
“We have always put the community first when developing and supporting content for Stellaris,” said Daniel Moregård, Game Director for Stellaris. “It is so rewarding to see this strategy help us earn the continued interest of a large and growing player base after all these years. Being able to reach a new all-time high right now makes the anniversary festivities feel even more momentous.”
This free anniversary patch is available today on PC and adds strong new visual elements and VFX such as Nebulas, Storms and more. Players can look forward to an updated look to the Stellaris base game to add a little more awe to any shock and awe campaigns.

Yo stellaris team, why don't you make a movie about stellaris? You know about its politics, love, economic, growth, war, famine, with diverse sexes and gendered while the richness and endless possibilities of the story and inviting Steven Spielberg, Chirstopher Nolan or Guillermo del Toro as the director and George R. R. Martin as writers i think it might be a success
@@buenaventuralosgrandes9266 yes, make a great stellaris franchise! you could compare to stargate etc.
@@buenaventuralosgrandes9266 Every time we start a new game, the Stellaris team has done just that.
Cool trailer! I like playing Stellaris. Its too bad the actual game looks absolutely nothing like this trailer. I feel like new people seeing that will just be disappointed when they play the game expecting something completely different.
An amazing trailer to the best video game I've played!
If Stellaris was a movie I'd watch it. Like god damn these trailers really scratch a sci fi itch like no other.
It gives me a Star-Wars / Star-Trek hybrid vibe.
If you haven't watched the Stellaris Invicta series made by the Templin Institute, I highly recommend it. Or rewatch it. :D
I was just thinking the exact same thing
@@WabbitCrouton That series was amazing. I'm hoping they will do another one in the future. It shows that Stellaris has the potential to be used as a means to create a story that you can use for something like a sci fi movie or series. And by using mods, the possibilities are nearly endless.
well, the game really scratches that sci-fi itch like no other as well.
The trailer starts the same way everyone's game ends. Lots of cracked planets
How stellaris-ly is that...
Where is my purge tho?
I dunno, I prefer assimilating them and leaving the planets to poverty and unemployment, juuust on the brink of collapse.
The IMPERIUM approves !
What do you expect from War Crime Simulator 2200?
Single manly tear, and happy anniversary Stellaris.
Can't wait to see your vids for this PC update
Just let it all out ;---;

can i presume we will see some pretty thumbnails made with this in upcoming videos?
"Free weekend" lasts six days. LOL. That's my kind of weekend there.
....but way not enough time for a whole stellaris session for the most guys out there i guess thats the trick ;)

Well from what this game has taught me, that's nothing that a little bit of nerve stapling can't fix.

Yeah they are pretty well made
I think paradox should add like little animations of flying ships around mega structures and planets to make the galaxy feel more full instead of so lonely. It would make the galaxy look so much more interesting
I absolutely love this idea…. But the frames… oh the frames….
then stellaris should become 18+ not 7+

There needs to be a TV series of stellaris, like the expanse but on a galactic scale and it’s based on stellaris. And using this cinematic type of art and the cgi of the expanse.
I doubt modern television can stomach hivemind xenos chewing on livestock catgirls while glassing/cracking planets left and right :))

I cant believe that Stellaris has grown so much in the four years it has been out. I remember (and I'm not proud to admit it) when I torrented that game because I didn't have enough money to pay for it, but in the first few hours that i played it I had to support the team behind it so I sold a few things for money to get it. I have been playing it ever since with thousands of hours on record and have gone out of my way to purchase every DLC to get the full experience.
Thank you Stellaris for helping me through the hardest times of my life and I hope that you continue to grow in both development and popularity.
Interesting. I could say nearly the exact same thing about my experience as well. I must admit that while torrenting is frowned upon, it provides those that can't afford to waste money, like myself, the opportunity to try out new games and dlc first, with no regrets, and then decide whether to actually spend money to get the genuine copy or forget about it entirely.
@Blaine Church Believe it or not, they didn't deny that it was stealing. They simply made a case for why it continues to exist. If you can't be bothered to actually read the comment then don't bother replying to it.
@@kylelacroix1023 Its not exactly stealing in the same way you would steal an apple or money though. Stealing is bad because it hurts the victim. In the case of torrents, a vast majority of people who torrents games are the people who wouldnt be able to buy the game anyways.
There is a certain minority within us who are "proud to not give money to something when they can get it for free", those are the retarded ones, on that we agree.

I still don't like the fact that sectors are generated randomly instead of letting the players choose how to organize their territory... sure the game is improving but some things are NOT improvements, they're changes.
Leave you with a bastard of a headache though
Well not randomly , but i get your point , sectors are generated by selection of star systems till 4 lanes from a sector capital

Came for the game, stayed for the feels. These trailers are gorgeous.
People ask, "what is your favorite sci-fi?" Usually expecting answers of Star wars/trek or some best selling book like the maze runner or Dune.
I answer, "Stellaris!"
They give me a look of confusion and ask what is that.
I attempt to answer, and yet they don't understand.
The Martian's pretty fun, tho... if you want a realistic-fiction sci-fi, it's great.
Enlightenment of primitive worlds: in the process...

Stellaris is a great game but damn give me a movie that looks like this. Paradox you have a movie division?
I think Disney would pay infinite mousedollars to avoid a good sci fi competitor like this
Using the models and designs from the actual game is such a clever detail. Being able to recognise the science nexus and each type of ship on screen when they could have easily just designed new ships and stations for this really makes the trailer more impactful.
Thats about how i like to imagine stellaris while i play.
This really shows what i feel is what this game is missing; the personal aspect. You dont have hollidays or saints when a leader dies or sudden ethic shifts(imagine the soviet collapse) or maybe a mining accident that nowadays would spark a revolution within a mining town that might lead to a reform in mining strategies or a tragic accident while trying to build a megastructure that haves you gain a boost to unity as your citizens realise how they need eachother. Another thing is that the space combat and civilian ships look so good here tho i get this game is 4x itd like to see some fleshing out of the universe(civilian ships, (yes i know about the mod) better space and detailed ground combat and a planetary visuals overhaul would make this game my fav instead of my second fav
