    Pants are Dragon said that when you die, it's 99% your fault. I agree with this statement, it means every time you die you did something wrong. You missed a crucial skillshot, kited badly, forgot an active item, overextended... Whatever, it's your fault. That 1% left is Zilean not ulting you because he doesn't like you. Do you agree, Fox?

    So I've applied this to my games.
    I now know that the cause of my deaths is that I overestimate my team mates.

      you should talk about when good criteria for choosing your death as well. Is it ever worth it to sacrifice yourself if it means ensuring your team's success on any given play? Say you are the assassin and their carry is well protected, but you know you can get them even if it means dying yourself, particularly if your carry would ultimately stay up and clean up the fight. Is that ever a good decision to make?

    Feel like this is an appropriate place to place this comment esp. since the video is about dying which is usually tied to risk taking.
    What do ya'll feel, including Foxdrop if you happen to read this, is an appropriate balance between risk taking and playing safe? I played a game today where I tried to do my best calling dragon, baron, and elder dragon plays as well as realizing we were far behind. We ended up stalling for a 50 minute game after a team fight at baron, we won marched up mid and won the game. I felt like I did really well calling it but I could tell I was also getting on my team's nerves. In the end I realized I lean more towards playing safe. If someone flashes over a wall and i don't have vision I won't follow even if they have 5 health left. If our lane is 0/5 I won't fight unless we have numbers. Hoping ya'll will read this and provide some insight on how you guys balance risks and safety as well as calling shots and how to overcome your own team bringing you down.
    In most of my games I feel like I'm playing 1 v 9 and it sucks.

    • @Xarrayne
      @Xarrayne 8 лет назад +1

      +Sean Mold I feel you, but it often comes down to a lot of situational factors so there's no definitive answer. I think it's something that comes down to being able to identify those factors and properly evaluate the situation which is mostly gained through experience. However, Foxdrop made some relevant points such as knowing the limitations and potential of certain champions, as well as whether or not your team can/will follow up...
      As far as being a safe-leaning player everyone has a slightly different play style, even at the highest levels. Once again it's partly experience plus a little personal preference, but Foxdrop did mention that playing some normals and going "balls to the wall" might help you learn when it's worth to flash that wall and when playing safe is right.
      Hope I was helpful, excuse the wall of text - edit for readers enjoyment :^)

    • @SeanMold
      @SeanMold 8 лет назад

      I'm not often in solo lane (I focus on jungle and support play) I most often try to fight any lvl 1 when I'm playing Braum, who's my main support character. If I'm feeling more aggressive I like to play annie. I'll hide in bushes while the ad carry farms and come out and Q+W+auto+thunderlords every 30 seconds. After 2 or 3 rotations of that I like to try to set up an all in. So, as far as support goes I'm fairly comfortable. My other role that I like is jungling because I see it as a second support. My biggest flaw is being counterjungled and not knowing how to respond or knowing when I can fight whom inside jungle unless I'm playing Vi in which case I'm comfortable enough to fight just about anyone.

    • @Xarrayne
      @Xarrayne 8 лет назад

      +Sean Mold Well as long as you recognise your own strengths and weaknesses you can keep improving! Look out for opportunities to practice with something you struggle against, a video of someone in a similar situation/matchup, or find a streamer who plays similar champions. From that you can figure out what it is you can change about your own game play to compensate for your weaknesses.
      I've still got a lot to learn and improve myself, but the key to doing that efficiently is informed practice... It'll take time, but we'll be challenjour one day!

    I saw huge improvement when I started thinking more about never being to heavy to carry by my team vs having to carry every game. goes hand in hand with not putting your self on a pedestal like you said. not only will you play safer and smarter but i think its a less stressful mind set to play with.

    How to die less:
    -Know your champ
    -know your enemy champ
    - ward every chance you get you get a free one
    -Check your minimap before making a play
    -no seriously check
    -if you can't avoid dying and your a jungle/top lane and you start falling behind 0/2 35 cs at 10 min stop building damage you will be worthless build tank and use your cc to help your team.

    • @AntoninHoudekidk
      @AntoninHoudekidk 8 лет назад

      Well.. actually I think when you fall behind it is useless to build tank... I saw some similar video and some pro player explained there that it is better to build damage because when you are behind you do not have enough golds and you cannot build quite tank which will be able to take some damage and also deal enough damage to build aggro in team fight... it might depend on champion utility but in general it is better to deal some damage and stay in fight for just brief moment than deal no damage at all

    • @GrimAsythes
      @GrimAsythes 8 лет назад

      Antonin Houdek True but that's more when you are a pro IMO.
      Building damage is cool but if you are behind you are going to behind in gold so your damage will suck, and since your squishy you can flat out die instant to the Feed enemy.

    Hey Foxdrop, i totally like your vids and they helped me to understand the overall concept of league. I started with playing support first because i wasnt sure yet how to play the other positions. I realized how underappreciated Supports are and that especially some ADC's are hating against their protectors. Obviously that ends up pretty badly at the end. Could you maybe do a guide vid about support, would be awesome! Maybe some more people will play them or in general stop hating and blame their sup.
    Cheers!

    i really like this video. I made it a point back when I was bronze and wanted to start climbing to pick a champion I wanted to main and then I would also learn to a high degree their counter. an example of this would be me maining LeBlanc and at the same time learning Morde pre-rework. if I know his limitations and how he beats me then I can play around that and your hardest counter no longer shits on you because you know how and why they counter you.

    A while back someone ran some stat analysis on what led to wins/losses/etc. While CS/gold per time weren't worthless, deaths overwhelmingly correlated to wins/losses. Kills weren't nearly as valuable as fewer deaths. I would imagine that this would continue to hold true until you're getting into the way top tiers where deaths are less frequent for everyone on a per game basis in general.

    the first tip is very true, I find that in rank people go in expecting every enemy to be equal in skill, meanwhile there I am in mid just testing out what kind of player I'm up against first. I remember this one yasou was pretty crazy, but I still got 2/0 over him as anivia because he underestimated me. Then he started to roam and I couldn't really keep up behind him ALL the time, he came back to lane 5/2 lol. we lost because they didnt hear out my warning that he was good cause i had killed him

    I don't know if this problem only applies to me but I often have a lot of trouble with mobile enemies. I mis most of my skill shots failing to poke them down and I don't want to go to base to many when I am in a pretty bad shape since that will cause the enemy to get farm fed. This usually results in my death. Or it results in my enemy starting to roam. I know a way to improve this is landing my skillshots but so therefore my question is. How do you stop a champion from being so mobile in the early game? For example leblanc and fizz.

    • @tokyo7448
      @tokyo7448 8 лет назад

      +Layla dog well in league there are alot of mobile champs in league you cannot stop them, what you need to do is that you need to predict where they are going, example when zed pops his shadow close to you most likely he will swap places you need to know and read your opponent

      +Layla dog Another big key is abusing your opponents cool downs. if a fizz uses his E that escape/mobility is on cool down for a bit, so punish him before its back up. that goes for all trades in league rather mobility is the problem or not. punishing cool downs in my opinion is the best way to bulling a lane.

    Out of curiosity why have Red play Yasuo instead of Zed? I'd figure seeing as his best is Zed he'd want to play that into anything and Yas would be perfect because he knows it inside and out and also is an advantageous match up. I guess it could work either way but just curious.

    I think you should have mentioned risk factors. In early game you don't wanna risk if you have champ that dominates late game, and reverse. As a matter of fact I don't think any champion should take any risk in start of a game. I think this is very important tip.

    • @BaronskiLoLigra4a
      @BaronskiLoLigra4a 8 лет назад +1

      +Stiriacus Tenebris well if you play like Shaco jungle and you just afk farming that is pretty bad like BIG TIME bad :D ... playing passive and hugging turrets is ok but vs good enemy they will just find a way to kill you cause they will realise you play like a bitchh and aint really fighting back so yeah ...

    • @stiriacustenebris7140
      @stiriacustenebris7140 8 лет назад

      Well yeah i agree, but I was targeting more risky factors. For instance when you gank you don't really risk much considering it will be 2v1, eventually 2v2 at most of times...
      The real risk factor would be to turret dive in 15th min or so, to actually risk losing something, at most of the times death.
      And generally farming is not that risky, you can exchange couple of hits which is totally normal, but having in mind whether its better to actually be aggressive (Tryndamere), or stay and collect that stack that you might lose if you are aggressive (Nasus).
      So they vary, but generally even with Tryndamere you don't wanna tower dive pre-6 or engage into 1v2 battle.
      That was my point :D

    What if a lot of my deaths happen because my teammate decides to back off during fights, instead of going in? As a jungler, this is very frustrating -- just because I'm coming in doesn't mean you get a free ride. To secure kills I might need some backup.

    +foxdropLoL - Be a Better League Player Hey man, you did a great job of explaining as always! Like you say it's a very broad subject, but you covered it as well as can be done.
    It's people like you and +Phylol who keep me motivated to persevere in this game; you both help me self-reflect, concentrate on my own performance rather than my team's, and I'm improving with every video! For once I actually enjoy studying something?! :^)
    You have no idea how valuable your experience and insights are to someone who's new or struggling in this game, and I look forward to many more lessons with Foxy!
    P.S. I make gaming notes on Post-Its too, especially of this video - I'm a dirty feeding nerd like senpai 8^)

    Got my 2 S ratings for my Mastery 6 on Lee the very first two games I played,for the simple fact that because in the back of my mind I knew I wanted to get an S,like that was my objective,not to win,but to kill a lot and never die,I ended up going like 23/3/8,for me it's all about my mentality going in to games,and I think playing for a good rating is a good way to improve coming off of these games.

    • @Londronable
      @Londronable 8 лет назад +1

      +Rob La The thing is, as a support imo that changes a lot(and to a lesser degree for junglers).
      For example, if you can make a play on a lee sin and get their fed carry you dying isn't a negative.
      I played some games as support and especially as for example thresh, getting a hook and swinging yourself into the enemy team, dying in the process is most of the time not a bad choice if your team is there. After all, I assume the carry I hooked dies because of me.
      Hell, I've basically suicided into a team as an immobile tank because I knew we were with more people and were stronger but lacked the engage. Again, I died but we cleaned up 4 as a team only losing me.

    • @VandalCleaver
      @VandalCleaver 8 лет назад

      Londronable Haha exactly man,this is the reason I sometimes want to commit sudoku while playing Lee,because sometimes the shit people expect you to do is suicidal XD like I love those kinds of plays,but I find that they're so risky,and that they rely on my team killing the dude I style on,it can lead to some depressing feeding :') Thresh is really similar yeah,you just gotta build as tanky as you can and divebomb them for a pickoff XD

    Just an observation but over the last 6 months or so i have found that the league community if not the gaming community as a whole is becoming extremely more toxic and, well very uninviting. To the point where i no longer play solo que or infact league in general unless im with friends. People are too quick to blame others for their own mistakes and instead of trying to learn just become tilted and it aggrivates me greatly. I loved league but it has become infested by playeers who just seem to be on there to ruin games for everyone. Foxdrop your videos have helped me so much and i would like to say thank you. keep up the great work, and i have found noone better to help me with my plays especially in the jungle :P even if i am still only in silver.

      You are 100% correct, I just dont understand why people would ruin a perfectly good game. But hey, i still play, enjoy and spend money on the game. Maybe I wll try that mute button :P Might save me reporting many many people xD

    sometimes I get tilted by simply missing 2 or 3 farm in a wave. I can understand when the supp have relic shield but when I lose a cannon or the first three melee minions in the start of the game I get a little pissed. it's not serious tilt though and i juste force myself to focus more. also I get angry when I get less than 100 cs at the 15 minute mark, as for me cs is more important than kills unless there is a dragon or baron in the balance (I play in bronze and it's crazy how people forget the dragon is even there).

      +Yoko Ritona The general argument is that while knowing more champions is good so you understand how to play against them it's still beneficial to focus on a smaller core of characters to play in ranked as a lot of what lets you climb are fundamentals and match up knowledge.

    very good and very realistic. honestly, it's probably TOO realistic, everyone wants to believe they are Faker when they aren't even close (including myself). It's too hard for most people to look at their play objectively and also realize they aren't as good as they THINK they are.

    • @pandapandovkaya
      @pandapandovkaya 8 лет назад

      +Mark Exconde he is one of the best picks for Top, he got sustain damage, late game carries deal 0 dmg to him and i probably see him every game in Master and try to ban ^^
      Gnar is hard to perform, Illaoi is weak, Illaoi < Darius /^^

    • @TheGreatwhitellama
      @TheGreatwhitellama 8 лет назад

      +Mark Exconde I would say it depends. Lower ranks don't know how to vs an Illaoi, so she generally creams them. Her weakness is she's really easily kited and poked. Gnar is good at kiting and of course is great in team fights if you manage to get your ulti off, though he takes a bit of practice to be good with. Maokai is pretty solid and easy to learn. He tends to lack damage, so he can't hard carry games very well, but if you play with your team when needed it shouldn't matter.
      Perhaps a simpler way to decide what you want since they are all tanks and great in team fights. Illaoi > for damage, Gnar > for kiting and poke, Maokai > for CC and sustain.

    I have that tendency to try and hard carry games, but in Low Elo you really can't rely too much on your team. Even when you ping and tell them "That's a bait" they continue running and die because 3 people were bush camping. When people don't have even a basic knowledge of the game it becomes problematic to rely on them, also you have as much vision as Lee Sin in lower Elo unless you pick support or jungle.

      +MaxChaosGaming Play her. I main LeBlanc and if you don't know her well enough she seems like there's no counterplay but trust me she has huge limitations if someone plays against her correctly. So pick her up and learn what she's about - The most basic tip I can give is if you dodge her W damage in lane then go in on her with your own kit you'll win the trade. Usually. So picking someone with their own mobility is half the battle won!
