That underneath shot was really helpful. Just discovered you after watching Fruity Knitting. I never had a taste for hooked rugs until I saw yours. Now I may have to go down another rabbit hole ! Thanks for the inspiration.
I thought about your new word for 2023, steep. I thought- slow brewing, bringing out intense flavour and deepen colour. I’m going to find ways to use these thoughts into projects in the new year. Deanne, keep up the inspiration for us all. Mary Lou
I've been watching you since the pandemic and just ordered my first kit!!!! So excited. I started watching Fruity Knitting when the channel started. It is such a wonderful show. Andrea lost Andrew, the love of her life, going on two years ago. He was such a great guy. I'm so glad the she and Madeline have continued! My husband and I dream of vacationing in Nova Scotia after we retire! Happy New Year!
Lol talking about being technically astute--love it when Dianne shows us the mike and then lowers it and she talks but we have a harder time hearing her. Just brought me to giggling. Recovering from a broken wrists and bronchitis. I am being still. I love the pinks. I have tea roses I drew from my friends funeral bouquet. I hope to hook them in the future. I have them on my bedside table as inspiration.
Thanks for the inspiration and learning! I’m loving the yellows with the reds and pinks and the pop of turquoise. How do you decide to blend and balance the different background yellow shades in the smaller nooks and crannies around the flowers? Do you go with just one in a small nook and another in the next one? Or do you still try to have different yellows in each smaller area? The blending alongside the pot has bigger reaches of each yellow. But I’m wondering how you think about filling the smaller areas so it still looks blended but the scale of the different yellow colors and textures is consistent across the various sized fill areas. That way it doesn’t look like simple color by number, but you still get enough distinction! Thanks! You’re such an inspiration and your artwork is why I was drawn to try rug hooking in the first place! ❤️✨😊
Juliet, these are the kinds of things we talk about in the Inspiration sessions. They will open up in Feb again. You should think about joining. Also some of these questions are answered in our lives. It has a lot to do with practice and intuition.
I listen to "Happier" a Pod cast with Gretchen Rubin and her sister Elizabeth Craft. They pick a word every year. Mine is Balance this year. You might like them... I love them!
That design would be such a great kit!
I think so too. It would really attract me if I was learning how to hook or just wanted a great new kit. Thanks.

Thank you.
Love this piece you are working on. Do you use a fine hook or medium hook?
