- On April 20th and 21st, 2013, the first and only Stone Music Festival was held in Sydney, Australia. The lineup included Aerosmith and Van Halen on the first night, and Billy Joel on the second.
A press conference was conducted at the Hard Rock Cafe in Darling Harbour a few days before the event. It featured the Van Halen frontman, David Lee Roth, Billy Joel, and all five members of Aerosmith - Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, Tom Hamilton, Joey Kramer, and Brad Whitford.
The footage was filmed by Tom Compagnoni on behalf of the Australian Associated Press.
DLR is both highly articulate and batshit crazy. He weaves between both with finesse.
Well…WELL said. That may be the best description of Diamond Dave I’ve ever heard.

Joe Perry- ever so calm, cool, collected always. He cracks me up he's so calm. Easy to see where at one time he and Steven bumped heads. They are polar opposites in a good way for each. They are both their own person and individuality.

Aa a kid in the late 80s Billy Joel was my jam. I listened to his double greatest hits album constantly, and then in '94 after Get a Grip came out I went on a trip with my parents and while my older sister and our cousin and I rode in the back of a pickup truck my dad had converted into a camper, we listened to that Aerosmith album for 3 hours straight. After that, Aerosmith was my jam for quite a few years, until I discovered Alice in Chains, but that's another pointless story altogether....
Anyway, it was very cool to see them together in this interview.
I hope you then went on to listen to some of Aerosmith prior albums like Pump, Permanant Vacation and their really awesome ones like Rocks , Get your Wings and Toys in the attic. They really are super talented with both hard rock and more pop sounding tunes as well.

David is priceless, as usual. So entertaining. Billy Joel is just so uncomfortable in his own skin. I can't believe he told the story about Eddie throwing up. That was inappropriate, and I think it made David uncomfortable; but he was gracious anyway.
I agree. Tyler and Roth kept it classy. Joel on the other hand, well lets just say now we see why Christie Brinkley left him.

what? Eddie was an alchoholic was drank to calm his nerves. not exactly a news flash. Billy was one of the biggest stars on the planet in the late 70’s. he was recalling the time that they met. look at Dave’s reaction, story checked out.
As a side note, EVH himself had said he suffered from stage fright, and used to drink to cope with it, so I don't think it's the biggest reveal either.

A failed tour that never happened. I got my money back after 8 months of complaining and a threat of lawsuit! Notice how there is no footage of the concerts. Billy and Aero played few months later but not on this event.

I feel the need to explain a bit, what I said without context seems Mean when it was meant to be a complement.
I think Dave has passed into the next level of communication which of course is telepathy. That's why when he speaks aloud the older he gets an all the worldly knowledge that he has gained is trying to all fit out through his mouth and it all doesn't fit at the same time so there is a lot of turbulence in the reality of what is actually going on.
Let us all stand today to encourage Dave to only communicate with us telepathically and remain forever silent, basking in the glory of when some punk kid scoring hotties after his shows every night tries to get cocky and disses DLR?

Dave is and always will be a loose cannon. Even back then (2013) he should have acted his age, that would be the classy and wise thing to do. Still a legend though.

Dave is one of the greatest frontman ever ! But he doesn't know when to stfu. But I still love him .
I think he actually does, it’s just his motor mouthing gets so much spotlight that you don’t notice. He stayed silent for about 3 straight years after Ed’s death. No blowing smoke up anybody’s ass, no “tribute” concerts, nothing. Just some photographs and a couple songs. I don’t think he gets enough credit for being able to sit back and be comfortable with himself.
If they thought he was speaking too much then they could’ve easily spoken up themselves. He’s a man who speaks with great wit. Try enjoying people fully instead of reacting in the ways ‘society’ forces us all to grow up by judging everyone negatively. Having an open mind away from ‘society’s’ judgements is much more fun. He’s not saying anything nasty nor hurting anyone. He likes to talk so he does. We all like to do what we’re great at. If there’s anything someone like DLR can teach us, is to enjoy life to its fullest. Imagine what the world would be like if we enjoyed good people, let alone great people like DLR, to the fullest.
