Simply amazing and down to earth. She has a Roberta Flack quality in her awesome voice. She should have won in my opinion. But she'll go places that the show opened up for her.
My 1st time hearing this woman sing this song simply blew me away. I can't get her singing outta my head. Since hearing I researched the song and found donny Hathaway, I listened to him and then his daughter Layla. Neither of them,nor anyone else sings it better or as good as Rachel. Her rendition is so pure, the song will never get old. I 1st thought the song dated back much more than when donny Hathaway wrote and sang it. So I was surprised he wrote it. Rachel has made it my favorite donny Hathaway composition. I would love to hear more of her singing songs of her choosing, not someone else's. When you have a songstress like her, you have to allow them to sing what's in their soul. Tom didn't know how to handle a talent like hers. The show is really for young talent that appeals to young people. Thus your winners are usually chosen with that in mind. Rachel should have been handled like Susan Boyle. Susan didn't win the show but she won the career. I've forgotten what young talent won because they were easily forgotten. But Susan Boyle is still remembered. So it should be with Rachel Modest. Her voice should be heard fresh all over the globe.
I totally agree with you! One of the best vocals I ever heard and not just an empty vocal but totally from the heart, she’s right up there with the likes of Gladys Knight, Dionne Warwick, Ruby Winters. Real talented singers do not need to screech , that’s what I really dislike about this show, they’re pitted against each other to see who can sing the highest and the loudest, I would like to see Rachel go on Britain’s Got Talent, I’m sure Simon Cowell would showcase her talent and I for one would buy her album❤️ I do think she’s happy in her day job but what a waste not to hear this lovely lady’s voice 🧡🎶
