Wow , this song says it all !!!! I met a girl when I was 10 , we were the best of friends ! At 36 she was called to heaven , I'm 62 now and I dream of meeting her again heaven , my true friend I met when I was 10 .................
. I pray for you to find God Almighty that you feel his love in your heart and feel his warmth to know he is real because if you don't you will not make it to heaven my friend God bless you ....
My father's favorite song. (And one of mine as well). He used to play the vinyl single of this Jack Clement record all the time, over and over - in the late 1970's, and all through the 1980's, and he'd sing along to it at the top of his voice and make it fun and funny so we'd laugh and join in. Later on in his life (late 1990's) I recorded the vinyl record song into my computer and converted it to MP3 - complete with the vinyl snap and crackle and pop - so he could listen to it. But by then he had dementure and could not remember the song at all - could not remember that he had even heard it before, let alone that it was his favorite. But I remember for you Dad. RIP. I still love this truly beautiful song. Tears streaming down my face every time I hear it .... they are now as I write this.
I never get tired of watching this. When I'm feeling like this old world is just too much to handle, I play this. Pulls on the heart strings for sure. Just Beautiful!
Rest in peace Cowboy. This is the best I've ever heard this song sung........Wish I could have met you back in the day. Hopefully we'll meet up on the other side.....
@@jimlepeu577 I've head Jim Ed do the song Jim, and he did a fine version of i,t, But I still have to go with Cowboy JACK....i liked Sandys version also
Jack Clement will always own that song no matter who sings it. So emotional, gets me every time. I first heard on radio in Melbourne Australia in 1974 and I love just as much in 2020
As I sit here, listening to the Cowboy while sipping some of Mr. Walker's finest' I have come to the conclusion that it doesn't get any better than this. I used to listen to his show on Serius XM and miss him terribly. He had a way of expressing himself that this eighty-year-old former - shall we say one who has enjoyed alternative means of enjoying music and would give his soul to be able to play one coherent chord on his custom-built guitar. May you rest in peace Cowboy and hope you connect with my son somewhere in the afterlife.
His voice came to me after 30 plus years since my nan and I used to sing along to him. And he sounded exactly the same here as he did in my beautiful memory! What a voice 💯 %
There are many singers to this song. All good in there own ways but Jack Clements deep baritone voice is by far the best rendition. Love to watch these studio versions, love the way how Jack lights up a smoke before he puts his voice to the track. You can even hear the sound of the cigarette lighter as he lights up n move away from the mic 🎤 😂😂 The crossover from a young Jack to the older one @2:21sec is just superb with an even deeper tone/note.
@@francyn497Yep, I listened to them all and Carol Kid’s version is a very close 2nd. It was featured in the Korean movie called “Shiri”. A must watch movie.
Sandy, thank you so much for writing this song. I first knew it from Crystal Gayle’s two recordings in the 1970s, but when I first heard Jack’s Elektra version in 1978, and often played it on my radio show, it cemented its rightful place in my heart, and it has never left. Jack’s lovely daughter sent me an autographed copy of the LP in 1979, and I never had the chance to thank her for it, but at least I can thank you for your sublime creation, and for sharing this magnificent video with us. Thanks to Jack, thanks to Eddy, and a lifetime of love to you!
this man was a musical poet.his influence over many greats in the music business put them on the path to fame & don't forget his talent as a recording man in the studio also his r/roll days boy what a career r.i.p jack
Beautifull, makes me think of my beloved mother, gone just one year but she was best. God take good care of her please..she did her job on this earth just Perfectly.
The Cowboy will always be making people laugh somewhere. Or cry but in a way that you needed to. One of my true inspirations RIP Cowboy See you one day !
Not only Jack Clement ( Cowboy Jack Clement) was a musical genius himself he supported so many musicians on their way and career. With his studios in Nashville he was quite a center point for the musicians around him. RIP Jack Clement.
You'll all be surprised at all of the song he has written very talented legend! I know he didn't write this one but soo many artists whose names have never been spoken wrote songs we've been listening to for ages.
I have only recently discovered this wonderful singer on RUclips. I listen to this clip whenever I feel anxious. It is more effective than any antidepressant could ever be ❤
Hi John, Eddie Arnold is sitting off stage to the right of Jack. The camera pans that way and ea is crying. This song is so beautiful and I am so amazed how jack's voice stood the test of time.👍
I'm afraid it does get better, Crystal Gayle did best with this song in my opinion. If you like a man who puts his makeup on though better then you do a woman who puts hers on then this version here is for you. lol
Indeed he does. I interviewed him when I was a journalist in Nashville and got to tour his wonderful in house recording studio and take some pics. He was a true Nashville Hero.
My all time favourite song, even though it makes me sad sometimes. Think the only reason Waylon didn’t record this song was that he knew no-one could sing it better than Cowboy Jack
Always loved this song. Never knew who wrote it….until now 💔 Goosebumps. I was wondering why Elvis never covered this one, but he died in 77, so perhaps he just missed out…

The next is the lovely Crystal Gayle. But this one takes first prize, likely because Eddie wept.

1. What a seamless transition. Excellent video production.
