Greetings from Vietnam! Very nice pour over. We do a very similar design in our shop. Our main difference is that we only use a single hole in the bottom but slightly vary the size of the hole between filters to change the rate at which the coffee flows through it. As we also run a cafe which uses our pour over filters, we can market the fact that the flavor of the coffee changes with the size of the hole (flow rate) as you are changing the time that the coffee is immersed in the water. Love your kiln opening vids as well.
Trying my hand at coffee pour overs. Three in progress! Woohoo! Such a neat idea. Thank you Jon!
Love your channel, thanks for sharing your knowledge in an accessible format. I am a potter from Rochester Minnesota, great seeing a fellow Minnesota potter representing! Keep up the great work, Janine.
You make me so happy! I love watching your videos! Thanks and keep on pottin’ my friend!
Thanks for your help with my pour over, I had it down but needed a little help with the trimming! 😊
I liked your video on plates and I think you have a great personality. I don't mind that you talk a lot (like someone else said) because you are giving instruction and interacting. Your baby is so sweet! I love your ceramic coffee pour over too!
Thanks so much! Love your channel, always positive !
Can’t wait to try this out! Thanks!
Jennifer Allara This one is great, really functional and makes great coffee!:)
I'm going to do it!!! Thank you!
Loved this idea so had to give it a try! Everyone in the studio was trying to figure out what I was making! I decided to elongate the bowl a bit to accommodate a cone filter...works pretty well! I also just happened to throw a small bowl that I can rest the pour over in to catch those last drips. I'll definitely make some more of these. Thanks for your inspiration and, of course, your fun entertaining videos....being a golfer, I especially enjoyed your 99 hole marathon!!!🏌️♀️
Love these. Going to try !! UK
Need to see the part 2 😊
Thanks for the video! I am not a coffee drinker, but I have wanted to make these :)
Another useful pot to try out......thanks!
Cute little guy! 🥰❤️great videos!!!
dear jon - ha! very new to pottery and can't wait to get started. Any way I recently came across your site. awesome stuff! I wish tho in this particular video you would have showed or explained more how to glaze these since there are holes at the bottom. thanks for get glass coasters too -- love.
Your channel is like a combination between Demolition Ranch and Ingleton Pottery. Yes please thank you.
Thanks! I'll have to look up demolition ranch:)
Hey jon you are the coolest potter I know
Andrew B Thanks man!!
Andrew B .
Great work Jon!
Thanks Jon🙏🏼🌻
Love your videos!
Perfect timing - my coffee machine 😔 just went kaput!
Hi Jon
So could you wax the holes, so the glaze does not run on the shelf, or use glazes that do not really run?
glad i found you from reddit, this is great. We've gone to pottery places, but just ended up painting, but would definitely love to mold it from scratch like you did. Subbed!
Jon & Ange Thanks !!
This pour over coffee maker is not molded. It is hand thrown. To mold something means to pour ceramic slip into a plaster of Paris mold. Suggestion: take a pottery class at your local community center. Good luck
hey jon! how do you go about glazing these? i made a few and am worried about the glaze getting stuck in the holes in the bottom! thanks so much
I have made several of these single cuppers very successfully and love them. Any recommendations on larger sizes 8-10 cups?
Do you find it more comfortable to throw while standing? I've been thinking about raising my wheel and giving it a try.
I discovered standing a few years ago. Tip or two. measure the distance from the floor to your belly button. Then set the wheel up so it fits that position. I find I can look at many angles of my work easily and it doesn't hurt my back as much. A big plus for a small studio is you don't have a chair that takes up valuable space.
@@gregdebree9158 Thank you! I've been thinking of giving it a try.
Awesome! I have a pinched pour over in the bisque fire... preeeety sure it's going to just pour coffee all over my kitchen counter. and end up as a fun planter? haha! Cant wait to try this way!! Thanks for the video!
Thanks, good luck!
Estou amando seus vídeos.Sou ceramista aqui São Paulo-Brasil , fiquei curiosa com o produto que você usa para proteger a peça quando imersa no esmalte. Grande e carinhoso abraço para você e a sua linda família
Hey Jon! Hi from a York, UK potter! I like your enthusiasm! Sorry to ask but would you mind adding a link to the kiln opening for these guys please? I've spent ages trying to find it but failed and I'd like to see how they turn out. Would be very grateful. Thanks!
The question was what clay can i use for high temp stuff id like to make a mini kiln, have you seen the ones that fire pmc clay with a tea light? I do mostly small jewlery prieces but the kiln they show are one thing at a time and i want mine to be able to fire a few at a time, thanks Sam
I would have made it a little more steep but I love the video!
I love your videos
Do you sell these at all? I'd love to buy one for my husband
Hey Jon! What brand of clay extruded do you own and why would you recommend it? Thanks!
Quick question: what claybody do you use, and what cone do you fire to?
My two pour overs are drying... fun but hard getting the bottom thin without deforming. Question: What bats to you use? They are so thin and nice. I just had my first bat warp and need to buy more anyway. Cheers from the north of Sweden!
Here is a link to some that I use! amzn.to/2qel61d
I like this Episode...
Hi can make one using air dry clay please please 🥺🙏
Where can I buy one I live in eastern Washington
I am curious about the glaze dripping into the holes and blocking them and or the holes not being covered by glaze and therefor water eventually seeping into the clay body. Let me know :)
Actually bare clay that is fired to a high enough temp, such as cone 6 does not need glaze on it to be waterproof. But before it is fired I make sure that the holes are clear of glaze and I don't load it on thick enough for it to drip that much. I typically don't have any issues, thanks for watching!
How much gram I need to do this mug
Wheres the second video? I want to see the finished peices?
My favorite shape is no. 2 at 4:16

Looks like something fun to try. Enjoy your videos and you expert assistant. We will be up in Minnesota first week of November. Do you have a studio store we can stop by for a visit? If so where and what are the hours?
thanks Jon, pitty I don't drink coffee! hehehe
Beautiful baby!! 💕
Can you get that professional look without firing in a kennel
How dare you use a metal tea pot!! Lol seriously you should make a usable tea pot
That baby was cuter
nice lose the music.
poor technique on the coffee side of things
