This video is based on the novel Demian by Herman Hesse and the theme is temptation. You really caught a lot of the references to good and evil, dark and light. Jin, who kissed the statue, was deceived into temptation and the video shows the aftermath. The spoken part in the middle of the video is a quote directly from Demian. The quote you were asking about is in German from Friedrich Nietzche: "You must have chaos within you to give birth to a dancing star." The novel Demian is amazing and one of the main themes is that we all have good and evil within ourselves and that we need to acknowledge and reconcile that fact in order to become whole people. I don't know if you are a reader or not, but Demian is a classic novel that really makes you think.
Thank you.

You have a unique take on this video. Great job by the way!
I’m sure you’ll get a full rundown about it in the comments. Yes it’s pretty deep. Think temptation. 💜
Yes, I'm learning a lot about the depth of this video
Thanks for your reaction! That era was based on the book Demian, by Hermann Hesse. It's about the temptations that appear while growing up. RM read a quote from the book.
As others have said check out the explanation video, this happens more than you think, needing more insight to the meaning of one of their videos/songs. BTS are deep thinkers. You think you are impressed now, just watch the explanation video. After you get turned on to BTS it is hard to go back to other meaningless or trivial songs. BTS makes you think., impressive. Enjoyed your reaction. Thank you for the blessing at the end. I receive that and may you be greatly blessed as well, and May God bless all that you lay your hands to and expand you territory. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
Think of See No Evil Hear No Evil Speak No Evil, the Covering of the Eyes and Mouth
13:23 The first time I watched this MV, I was surprised to see Michelangelo's Pieta. I was intrigued. I considered Jesus and the themes in his life: selfless sacrifice, resurrection, power, and redemption for his followers. But those didn't fit with the themes of the song. Then I remembered, the Pieta is about a mother mourning injustice and the loss of her child. The death of Jesus is the circumstance, but the art is about loss, reminiscing, grief, compassion, and the forces of evil targeting your innocent beloved child. In life, we step across a threshold into adulthood, and it is like a death, as we cannot return to the way we were. Yes, these are themes in the MV.
Later, after watching this MV many times, I noticed something in the sculpture replica.
The face of Jesus here is replaced by polygons, erasing all facial features! I think this is not meant as disrespect; it is so we will turn our attention to the broad themes rather than the specifics about Jesus.
I became curious. What does the original sculpture look like? I found a photo and zoomed in. Jesus's head tilts back and away from the observer's view, making it hard to see details. Mary's face is clearly visible. We are pulled into Mary's experience, to take some moments to ponder the magnitude of her feelings of loss.

Hi, I am back. Good reaction, ty. So glad you liked it. Great song. Adore it. Jimin was amazing in this. His voice the dance the fit, chef's kiss! We learn here that Suga can play the organ just as good as he can play the piano. He so awesome! All of them sound seductive just a pleasure for the ears. They look like they are in a museum to me. =0] They are in a made up setting. Big Hit really outdid themselves here. I was so surprised by the choreo when i saw it seperate. They leave a lot out. Fire!=0p Also, pls check out the explanation video for this MV. Bookish Theories is good. Rosan @xCeleste might have one too. Just take a look see. V is a fallen angel to me. He gives in to temptation all of them do. If u read the lyrics and pay attention to the symbolism the song is clearly about temptation not a relationship. The song and MV fit well together. There are a lot of layers in this one. BTS won 8 awards that year for this album and MV. They just swept the award shows. Best day ever! much deserved. Yes, this is a BU (BTS Universe) storyline video. They are talking about one sin greed. They fell into temptation. Last supper is right. There were a LOT of biblical references and other hidden easter eggs. Like see no evil, hear no evil speak no evil was all in the choreo for a reason. I hope u watch the dance practice. It's so good. Hugs -2019 ARMY NY USA 💜

A note about the organ music you might find interesting/relevant:
The piece that is heard is Buxtehude's, "Passacaglia in D minor," which is also the piece that Emil hears in the Pistorius section of the novel.*
* All credit goes to ReactToTheK (specifically Yunyi), for figuring that out & tracking down the reference. ruclips.net/video/K3XtBF_qX0o/видео.html

I suppose you understand why this song has been used during lectures at uni haha. You're definitely on the right track, but there's sooo much more hidden in this song/mv. I love the explanation video by Don't Worry I'm Not Afraid ( ruclips.net/video/5tlgAUE6yjg/видео.html ). Fellow reactor Cedric Gegel actually did a great job breaking it down too, though he did it twice - first time for the more "apparent" meaning, and second time for the underlying meanings from the BU.

Some trivia about cinematography for u guys 👀:
• RM reads a paragraph of "Demian" by Herman Hesse at 2:30 in the music video. And at the very beginning, RM is shown reading "Demian" by Herman Hesse.
• At the beginning of the video, Jin looks at a painting titled The Fall of the Rebel Angels by Pieter Bruegel.
• When Jungkook is dangling on the swing in the MV 0:20, the painting behind him is called The Lament of Icarus by Herbert James Draper.
• In J-Hope' solo scene in the MV, he is standing behind Michelangelo’s Pieta.
• When V is sitting on the ledge of the balcony in the MV, in front of him is the painting Landscape with the Fall of Icarus, also by Bruegel.
• Tha table part: Apples are a sign of temptation and sin (apples are also mentioned in Demian). And on each plate, we see that each member has a chalice and an apple. All these things right in front of them are “tempting” them to sin.

Loved your reaction and your thought process as you waded through the MV. And yes, I believe you were spot on about the “money/more” part. I think it’s a double entendre. It is more, more,, more (greed), but there’s also a saying in English, that “money is the root of all Evil”.

Most of their songs have layered meanings, but this one is indeed a deep dive. Their songs usually have a surface meaning that is universal, deeper stories that are personal to them, a layer under that which is a more nuanced dive into things like history, philosophy, psychology, etc, and sometimes also story clues and context relating to the BU (Bangtan Universe) all in the same song. Their MVs add another layer to the art in terms of the clues and storytelling going on visually. Add to that their choreography which is not just dope moves, but nuanced performance art storytelling, with moves related to the themes and lyrics. Add to that the fact that the song structures themselves can tell part of the story, like a song done in all downbeat minor chords which is about being caught in lies you tell yourself which has a major, soaring and uplifting chord on the chorus which is itself a lie within the song. Or a song about the 7 of them continuing to make music together and be with ARMY, which is full of unusual 7th chords. Or a pause and silence in the song instrumentation when the lyrics say "I take a breath." Or a song that uses basketball sounds as all the percussion, like sneaker squeaks, ball sounds, etc. Add to that their short films and other media like their mobile game and webtoons and books and so forth that continue their stories.
They.
Are.
Geniuses.
The choreography in B,S&T is seductive because there is a seduction taking place. It is the guys who are being seduced away from their childhood by the temptations of the adult world. Ultimately, they must surrender to the darkness because that is how you grow up, by letting go of the innocence of childhood like Jin lets go of the balloon. It's melancholy to embrace the dark and say goodbye to childhood, but you don't plunge into the dark headfirst, you add it to the light as a duality. Just as Jin embraced Abraxis, the god of both Good and Evil, Light and Darkness, we all must carry that duality within us, the chaos, the shadows, that allows us to be fully realized adult people capable of growth and creativity or giving "birth to the dancing star." Once they surrender and the blindfold comes off, they are not left in that black and white world of the duality. Instead, the world bursts with new colors, the creative expression of which they are now capable. In the end Jin sees the shell of childhood cracking as his new self begins to emerge.
This song is off the masterpiece album Wings, which is all inspired by Demian. But so many of their songs and albums are masterpieces and every album is a concept album with a story to tell and they ask you to listen to tracks in order because they are in a storytelling order. Albums are based on psychological theory, or philosophy, or life stages and passages or personal struggles and experiences. The Most Beautiful Moment in Life series is about that moment between adolescence and adulthood, when you have to make real decisions as young adults, and the turbulence and challenges of those times. Jimin's album Face and BTS album BE are both pandemic albums, full of their pandemic struggles as well as the things that got them through. RM's album Indigo is the story of his 20s, triumphs, fears, lessons learned. Jungkook's album Golden and BTS album series Love Yourself all explore love in various ways, phases and types. V's album Layover tells a story of escaping and creating a virtual fantasy world where he can be together with BTS and ARMY, as told through songs about love, loss and longing. And so on....
There is SOOOOO much more for you to discover. I'm so glad you have joined us here in our cozy rabbit warren. BTS is love. ARMY is love.
Borahae!

Here's the EXPLAINED Video so you can understand this MV: ruclips.net/video/5tlgAUE6yjg/видео.html
I love this MV and your take on it , I understand that a lot of Army are recommending explanation videos , and those are Great but as an Army Myself I personally find those to be more of their Theories of the MV , there are A Lot of Videos and Interviews Where RM and the Members Explain It Better that’s Just My Opinion, Nobody Knows What the Lyrics and The Songs Mean More then The Members, seeing That they Write All Their Music Especially the Rap Verses Cause of Course ( RM, Suga and Jhope ) all Write their Own Verses, as Well as Contributing to The Verses for the Vocal line !! Again Just My Opinion, The Members Know their Own Music Better then the Explanation Videos just Watch Interviews and Behind the Scenes Videos They Explain Everything!! Great Reaction 💜
Example: RM ( The one that sang Peaches and Cream ) He wrote The Song Singularity For The Member V ( the One Whose wings were broken ) Said and I quote ( No One Can Sing this Song Like V ) It Has to Be V and He was Right!! He also Wrote the song Stigma for V as Well , That’s also another Reason I always say Get the Meaning of the Songs from the Members ( RM always Goes live and always Explains the album and Why it had to be written that way and why He wrote His Verse that way etc. So please always watch and listen to the Members explanation before Watching explained Videos The Members Know their Stuff the best💜
This song and video is so much more than meets the eye. There’s a great explanation video that breaks down the lyrics and video if you’re interested. ruclips.net/video/5tlgAUE6yjg/видео.htmlsi=ggXv8RUxsezEMkun
Do your Journey of BTS at Your Own Pace!! We Army will Be Here , It’s Your Journey and Yours Alone don’t Feel like you Have to Get Videos out all The Time !!
Oh, I don't. I do what I can when I can. :)
@ That’s more then enough
I love when folks think they've TOTALLY understood a BTS song but the whole time I'm watching their reaction I'm yelling NOPE from the other room. Watch an explanation video. 😂
Ha ha, yeah BTS is on a whole other level

You gotta react to BTS Fake Love Metal Cover By Lies Behind Your Eyes...
I'll do it today....
We know you want to do videos but I hope no one is pressuring you. I would rather get genuine and thoughtful reactions than fluff just for numbers like some do. I appreciate you remembering things from other videos and I agree with others than an explanation video is best. They’re good for meaning, but also Korean cultural references .💜
I don't get pressure to react. I thoroughly enjoy them
Your subscribe button repeating was sooooooo annoying.
So I take it that it worked and you're subbing then? 😆 🤣 😂
Just playing. Much love my friend.
Korean skincare is just as superior as BTS is, even at the cheapest price point. The textures are so light and there is an emphasis on hydration.
