Cloning-The clone process allows you to perform the tasks that you see on the screen:
○ Create a duplicate copy of backup data securely offsite.
○ Transfer data from one location to another.
○ Verify backups.
There are multiple strategies that you can follow for cloning.
Scheduled cloning:P
Based on a Protection Policy.
Uses a Protection Policy Workflow containing a single Protection Policy Action of type "clone".
We use a dynamic protection group of sub type query of save sets to select the savesets for cloning.
Action based (automatic) cloning:
Based on a Protection Policy.
Uses a Protection Policy Workflow containing a Protection Policy Action of type "backup" and a Protection Policy Action of type "clone".
All save sets backed up in the "backup" action are cloned.
With respect to the "backup" action, the "clone" action can be performed either concurrently or sequentially.
Manual cloning:
Based on the NetWorker command "nsrclone".
All save sets are cloned which are specified either on the command line or in an input file
Your videos will be always above EMC KB articles..easy understanding and helps alot in understanding.
Thanks for your comment. I try to make videos based on what my subscribers are requesting.
Cannot thank you enough for the knowledgeable amazing videos about Networker
Glad you like them! Thanks for all your support.
Thanks, I was waiting for cloning video from long time.
Thank you for your support!! Hope you enjoyed it!
your content is awesome relayed to the networker. R u a networker developer from Dell EMC?
Thanks for you comment! Nope just used to be a backup admin but not anymore either.
Thank you for sharing this info, do you have any video of new NVE server deployment & restoring data from old server?
Not yet, but I can make one. Should be a good reboot for the channel :)
However I have trouble getting the installation files, can you help me getting the last few version of NetWorker server installation files and NVE.
Videos are informative..Put some videos on docker backup
NetWorker does not support but Yes PPDM does support baking up Kubernetes resources.
Hi @crazyrov,
Thanks for the great video.
I have a question - I cloned some save sets from a Backup type pool to a Backup Clone.. But can I do the opposite? (Example. I want to put back the clones where they were originally, on the Backup type pool)
Hey @ehex3, a clone operation always needs a device which is labeled to a Backup Clone type pool. If you want to move(note that this is a move and not copy) a saveset from a backup clone type device to a Backup type device then you can use staging operation but remembers a staging operation copies from a source to a destination and delete the source copy.
Thanks Rov for this demonstration.
I have one question plz, if I need to do cloning, but don't want Networker Server in Production environment to be in touch with DD in DR site.
Any recommended way of using Native DD Replication, which will allow Networker Server to do restore.
Its not recommended to have DD native replication for NetWorker data. You can have a Storage node at the DR site and only have the storage talk to the NetWorker server.
@@crazyrov I have communicated the same to customer, aggreged to CCR .. deployed (NW Server+ SN), but the only available link is DD-DD direct link, no other option I have, any recommendation please.
@@mhmdmageid9041 well no easy way, i don't know much about the procedure there though.

It took me two months to that scenario done and cloning is happening now 😂
Now they need to do test restore to different host on different Networker Zone 😢
hello,
i want to put all data cloned on one tape only,to externalize data, do you have any suggestion?
Thanks your comment, you can try to clone the volume. You can do that via the NetWorker administrator UI by right clicking on the volume name or using the nsrclone command.
Need help while clone the data i am getting this suggest manually labeling a new writable volume for pool earlier the clone process was killed mistakenly. Please let me know how can we solve this issue.
it might be because there are no append-able volumes available for the pool that you are trying to use.
Hi Crazyrov,,
I have a query regarding PPDM, can we integrate with tape library. I know it is a disk based solution. Is there a way to integrate PPDM and Networker to move data to tape.
Regards,
Sarath Kumar Reddy
Thanks for you comment! I dont see any option to do that, I am not sure but I believe that there is a way to import NetWorker data into PPDM but there is no option for integration.
Can I clone savesets to USB? We use DD for storage.
Sure you can, just create a AFTD out of the USB. But this begs the question. WHY? if its something one of for some desperate situation it is OK but please make this part of a prod setup.
Hi crazyRov Studios. What is the procedure to clone from tape to DataDomain?
Its the same process just that the pool assigned to the destination should have tape devices assigned to it and tapes should be labeled to this pool.
