Beretta DT11 Vs 694 - Which Shotgun?

  • With Beretta picking up most of the Olympic medals during the 2024 Olympics you may be considering one yourself. I take a comparison view of the two most popular models for sport/competition clay shooting. We have the iconic DT11 and the slightly more affordable 694. Whether you shoot trap, skeet or sporting, either of these shotguns could be utilized.
    The difference in weight, recoil and handling are all going to effect your choice as well as the ergonomics. And we cannot forget the price - that is always going to be a deciding factor..

    Got a 694 with 32'' barrels and two 3/8 chokes and love it. Previous gun was an F3 and much prefer the Beretta.

    Dang, cool guns, man! Your insight is valuable. Shotgun isn't my main platform, but I have a Mossberg 500 Retrograde that I looove. I can swap the 28" hunting/clay barrel with a 18.5" home defense barrel. Great stuff

    Got a 30 inch barrel 694 Trap, but with multi choke options. A brilliant Gun for the money. Great review by the way mate, well interesting and a great comparison. I like the idea of adjustable stocks, but they just look shite compared with a standard classic stock set up, imho ofcourse

    Try either of these against most others and be surprised by the reduced felt recoil. It's all in the way they bore the barrel.

    The biggest question would be why would someone at the moment with ammo costs being so high spend 10k on a gun. I have shot everything rifles, shotguns, air rifles etc my whole life but would never consider paying that much on a gun especially a shotgun. If you look at the silver pigeon 1 which are nice but cost about 1.2k new and you can do everything that the dt11 can so how do they justify such a ridiculous price jump.

    • @thatgearguy
      @thatgearguy  2 дня назад

      Incorrect. If you shoot competitively at high volume a silver pigeon will not stand up to the abuse. If you are an occasional shooter or do a bit of rough shooting every month fine. If you miss a few birds its no big deal. If the gun gets baking hot you can stop shooting for a few minutes and have a cup of tea. Competitors do not have that luxury. There is a reason serious shooters buy more expensive guns and it isnt bragging rights. They bring better scores and they dont break down when you really need them. These guns can be purchased second hand at good prices. A second hand 694 will run about 3k. A serious competitor should be prepared for that cost given the price of carts and the ammount of training required.

    • @DaibhidhBhoAlba
      @DaibhidhBhoAlba Месяц назад +1

      Pretty simple. It's relatively easy to own shotguns in the UK. It's essentially 'shall issue'. So long as you have no serious criminal convictions, no history of violence or abuse, and you don't have a serious mental health condition (or other health condition that would render you unsafe to own firearms), you just apply, say it's for sporting or pest control use, and you get your certificate. You can then own as many shotguns as you want (other than S1 shotguns which, generally, are those with detachable magazines or fixed magazines capable of holding 3 or more cartridges). You don't have to prove good reason for every gun, like you do with other firearms, you just buy whatever you want, when you want. You can also use them anywhere you want, so long as you deem it safe and have the permission of the land owner (other than in Scotland, where anyone can shoot shotguns for hunting wild fowel on the foreshore).

    • @williambarry8015
      @williambarry8015 Месяц назад +1

      You can own them but in no way shape or form are you allowed to defend yourself with it.
      If you do that you'll be bunking with bubba.

    It seems pointless to compare one model of shotgun with an adjustable, high rib to a different model with a fixed, flat rib. That said, I like my 32" 694 sporting more than I do my 32" Krieghoff Parcours, both in fit and handling dynamics.

    • @thatgearguy
      @thatgearguy  Месяц назад +1

      I compare the guns as the range and not specifics. The guns displayed just happen to be what I personally own. The comparison side is more about weight, recoil, reliability, cost. These factors are present in all the models..

    In the rough shooting how does the 694 adjustable stock go in mud and rain?

    • @thatgearguy
      @thatgearguy  20 дней назад

      No issue as long as you clean it afterward. Same as a wooden stock really. Of course polymer is best for foul weather but you still have to clean all metallic components so not much time saved anyway.

    would you avoid a 694 for trap as it doesn't have a higher rib?

    • @thatgearguy
      @thatgearguy  Месяц назад

      Personally I like a higher rib for trap. But many shooters who are far better than me use a much lower rib. You can order a 694 with a high rib - the 694 DTL step rib and the ACS both have high ribs.. It boils down to personal preference.

    Bought a new 694 pro-sporting gun 1 month ago. Being fairly new to Sporting Clays and wanting a gun that would shoot where I was looking, the 694 with the TSK stock seemed to be just the ticket. I was lucky enough to have a friend shooting one at a competition and I asked him if I could try it. From the very first mount the gun felt like it was part of me. I have some fine tuning to do on my hold point etc. but the 694 came to the mount and broke those clays beautifully. I went straight out and ordered one. It arrived and I clamped on my Shotkam and headed to the range for some practice. The results speak for themselves. Thanks for your video. ruclips.net/video/aXivErs6yzA/видео.html
