- Oscar nominee Albert Brooks spent an evening at the Film Society in extended conversation with Associate Program Director Scott Foundas, featuring clips from his career and a screening of Nicolas Winding Refn's stylish new thriller DRIVE.
Albert Brooks is among the finest comedians of all time! Seems like a great guy too.
When you stumble upon Albert, you are so grateful for him.
Always glad to hear an Albert Brooks interview - and he's great here - but why on earth don't they talk about his career as a director? He's a great actor, but his genius is in his filmmaking. What a wasted opportunity.
God! I love Albert Brooks!
I discovered Albert in the early 80's. There was a syndication of SNL, and his films were some of the funnier things! He has worked in every field I cherish. His projects have me wonder if was he who gave me my sense of delivery, and timing? I enjoy dry, but silly humor. Sometimes, I come out with good stuff. He is an endless fountain. Today's funniest man. I respect, and love this son of a bitch. He got Goldie too!
Oh my... Watch this if you want to see an interview with an actor about movies, with break for audience to watch the movie clip, but the filmed interview we watch doesn't show the movie clip. I continued watching ONLY because I'm a fan of Brooks and hoped to learn more about him. And the low audio level made a chore of watching and trying to listen to this recorded interview. Geesh!
I have preached the GOSPEL of " ALBERT BROOKS " for 30 years. His Genius is obvious and if someone doesn't get Mr.Brooks in a Movie ..........I know they aren't smart enough to hang around.
" DEFENDING MY LIFE " made me reflective about my childhood and lead to therapy.
When he did " MOTHER " and did the froasty Ice Cream and speel on the frozen cheese I peeded on my couch. So Albert owes me for one steam cleaning !! LOST IN AMERICA made me cry and choke and his other work is a mark of a brilliant man.
Albert moves me, makes me think and makes me laugh and I would love to cut his grass just to spend time with him. Not in a creepy way ....I could sleep in my RV just down the block.
Thanks Albert for reading these words." I COULD NEVER LIVE IN A WORLD WITHOUT ART ".....Ivan Lee Livingston
Over an hour and not one question about his fucking films-wow
Dear RUclips: please stop removing film clips from interviews like this. The "fair use" provision of copyright law allows for using excerpts from media when doing reviews or discussing works of art. The law is supreme, not what giant media corporations demand. Teach your robots to respect fair use. It's the law of the land. 🇺🇸
Marlin telling his jokes
Wow. A new record. 1 hour and 2 mins that you can't hear the audio on. Great. Just great.
Al is a National Treasure.
Would've much rather heard about Lost in America, Defending Your Life, Mother, etc., all of which Brooks seemed to want to go more into. But, instead, he has to talk about The Scout and I'll Do Anything? Come on!!!
Anyone else ready to see another interview with Albert Brooks?
Superb! Apart from not being able to hear it...
For the people whining about why they don't talk about Brooks' own films, the whole point of the evening was to talk about Brooks as an actor in other people's films.
Yup, comments are correct, we want to hear about his creative genius! He makes beautiful movies about life and it’s absurdity
wish we could see the movie clips
I can't believe they don't showcase the 1st Act of his film Modern Romance. Flawed, but it's got such a great beginning.
i adore albert brooks. i can't even help myself.
Would have been nice to see the clips they were talking about.
Interview Albert Brooks and ask him about his acting? Real Life, Modern Romance, Lost in America, Defending your Life. C'mon guy-at least Kubrick knew he was great...
I love this dude. Great Man
Albert
Why IN THE WORLD would your parents name you Albert Einstein ???? For Christs sake !! So that you would become a successful in show business ?? You know Albert....a lot of people would like to hear from you once in a while. Just a good comedy once in a while. YOu make it look so easy. Is it? Well then just a movie a year lets say. Kind of like Woody Allen. Shirley you could make one little movie for your dedicated family of fans . We're still here. Forever waiting....waiting ...waiting for you to appear before us and entertain us like you used to in your hilarious movies. Just one a year for a while and then we'll talk. Thanks Albert. YOur the best !!
Almost no discussion of his career as a filmmaker, but great questions about when Albert Brooks first sensed George Clooney was going to be a movie star. Pretty disappointing really.
37:02 - Thank you, me too. Otherwise, good movie. Love you, Albert!
Funnier than that other Albert Einstein
WHEN DID THIS TAKE PLACE???????????????
I love you so much mate
1:59. LE MONDE DE NEMO
C'est lui, le père de nemo avec son role! J'était petite! enplus!
Am I the only one that expects Albert to show up on "Curb Your Enthusiasm" some season? Maybe as the brother of the late Marty Funkhouser?
You sir have a great mind. This came true.
All I can hear is Marlin!
Albert Brooks is fantastic, this interviewer is terrible
Genius.
Albert Brooks is a "today happening" kind of comic. If you need this explained, you don't really know Albert!
Could the interviewer be any less interested?
Audio engineer is asleep.
He reminds me of Super Dave Osborn
They're brothers
I wish he would not shout so loud during the interview. He needs to lower the volume.
Terrible interview. Bad audio too.
jaybone23 I thought I was going deaf
Voice actor from finding nemo.
oldmanwitherspoon why is it sad?
he and tom hanks sound alike
He's the voice of Marlin from finding Nemo!
I know and for years I thought it was Tom Hanks doing the voice
+KEVIN PIASTRA: COMEDIAN What! If Tom Hanks was doing the voice for Marlin I wouldve recognized it.
Pretty Katarine
Robin Williams owes A.Brooks a TON for stealing half his act **
The sound stinks
Crummy little chairs
Albert Brooks is WAY over the head of the interviewer. Just so y'all know.
