- In the mid 80s one of the first ever rap beefs on record started. it didn't last for very long but many response records were made. Over 50 records were released according to Roxanne Shante herself. This was known as the Roxanne Wars. Female rap pioneer Roxanne Shante showed that battle raps can be spit on wax and still make a good track. Learn some more details in the video and comment with what beef you'd like me to cover next. Hey I got an idea for a series. How about you do verzuz battles that you wish would happen.
The fact she got over 50 people to attack her like that and still won the war, shows why she needs more love. Roxanne is a underrated MC in my opinion.
Some of the tracks were talking about UTFO and some were talking about Roxanne Shante so it was a pretty mixed bag of responses.

Cool; you covered the main records (except one). I counted 30, from what I was able to find, and it seems any number higher than that is likely including mixtapes and stuff (there were many of those, and often had "Roxanne" in the title). One thing that should have been included was UTFO's own direct response, "Calling Her A Crab", where they acted like they never liked her to begin with (and this also aimed at Shanté, rather than their own Roxanne!). It also was the last response I ever heard, and so really capped off the whole thing!
