    It,s difficult to think of a finer more perfect marriage of art and micro engineering. Absolutely stunning. !!

    Catia V.5 to design a watch, or an aircraft... at this level is almost the same!
    The challenges behind micro-mechanisms open space for innovations to be used in several applications!
    Jaquet Droz is unique, is the time alive!

    It's amazing those automates were created 250 years ago! It's like steampunk in real life -- modern technology adapted in 18th century ways.

    I often wonder what our world would look like had we not discovered and harnessed electricity... What amazing mechanical art. Personally my favorite brand

    • @user-zl2sc3bg3g
      @user-zl2sc3bg3g  7 лет назад +1

      And can you imagine that these "robot ancestors" were precisely done without any of it; no electricity, no machining... All by hand and talent!

    • @afarhan21
      @afarhan21 5 лет назад

      Yep. Electricity and motors ruined mechanicals.

    I would like my bird of choice if at all possible 😉. A Curl Crested Aracaris or a Collard Aracaris would be my pick since these 2 are actually family members in my house hold . I'm like you Andre , I would have no problem sporting a beautiful bird on my wrist.

    Does anyone know of any other watchmakers who have pursued automaton complications besides Jaquet-Droz? Perhaps other micro-brands like Roger Dubois or Bovet? I know a lot of companies make Tourbillions, Minute Repeaters, Perpetual/Annual Calendars, but these automaton complications seem truly unique in the industry. Any thoughts?

    • @user-zl2sc3bg3g
      @user-zl2sc3bg3g  6 лет назад +1

      There really aren't that many, because they are simply very complicated to build. Here's a rather crazy example Richard Mille introduced a couple of years ago, really quite something: ruclips.net/video/y6lC5wYpiW0/видео.html

    • @flyingphoenix113
      @flyingphoenix113 6 лет назад

      Thanks for the information! I was not previously aware for the RM19-02! VERY unique piece. As designers and artists begin to reach the envelope on what can be done with a traditional dial and traditional complications, I think automatons will play an increasingly bigger role in the high horology market. Van Cleef and Arpels is the only one besides Jaquet-Droz which comes to mind, so it will be interesting to see what happens to this segment of the market!

    Imagine now how complicated the human body is... takes so much time to make and engineer these model to do things. Then we suddenly believe human creation came from a big bang lol amazing
