There's something about Shayne Carter that always reminds me of Phil Judd's playing style. Banging together complex crazy chords arrangements that don't seem to go, playing and riding the Amp like pro's with twisted feedback and distortion harmonics that sword. Like Tin Fin was to Phil then there was Andrew (RIP) layering melodic tones over the top that glued the sound altogether (Yes pun intended )I mixed a few times at the GluePot , a very hard space indeed. Long and skinny with a bend around the bar. Were told there was a large cavity underneath that messed again with the acoustics I remember both Schnell Fenster and Straitjackets both played bloody loud in there and now its beauty shop or something, Ponsonby you sold-out big time...
I feel as if I’ve just witnessed a really significant piece of NZ music history. What an honour. Chillblue07 - what a ‘little ripper’ you are (Kiwi vernacular pun intended). SJF’s - what legends.
O for Oresome!
RIP Andrew Brough. Just heard.
