W.F.B. seems to be one of the best composers to listen to if you wish to hear the transition from Baroque style to Classical. Not surprising when you realize that WFB as the eldest son of J.S.Bach.

What a peculiar and strange 1st movement. It almost sounds like a battle between French and Italian music style - with no apparent winner. And then he chooses to end his Sinfonia in F with a galant Minuet in the style of Telemann and papa Bach. Clearly W.F. Bach is not the average 18th century composer. :-)

What little there is of WF that has been recorded is wonderful. I always thought it was a shame he had so many personal problems, considering the enormous musical talent he had.

Does Mozart use the DSCH motif in his first movement of Quartet no. 19?

Почему бы и нет. Моцарт был очень дружен с Шостаковичем.

Haydn or WF? Check the description.

You can hear that its definitely not Haydn. Antonini often conducts Haydn so that's how the mistake was made.

Papa Bach had three sons: C. Ph. E. the theorist, Joh. Chr. the 'cellist, but who was the third? W. F.

"Johann Sebastian Bach . . . Four of his six sons became respected composers in their own right. Though they had the same father, the two eldest-Wilhelm Friedemann (1710-1784) and Carl Philipp Emanuel (1714-1788) had a different mother, Maria Barbara (1684-1720), than the two younger sons-Johann Christoph Friedrich (1732-1795) and Johann Christian (1735-1782), who were born to Anna Magdalena (1701-1760). Indeed, the two pairs of half brothers belong to different generations"
