I got a set of R7 a month ago for my workbench. They work great. I did not know about the R8 version when I ordered them. Thanks for the video.
The R8 is still being developed. I am on the second prototype and have submitted changes for the third version. I should receive it later this week, and if it meets all the demands of the SmartWoodshop, it will go into production immediately. I will post a video when the final version is available for order.
Will there be any other size options for the R8 like a 3 inch or 4 inch wheel?
@@jronmanbuilds 2 ½" is the largest size planned at this time.
Thanks, Ron, looks like a game changer to me. The old style with the foot pedals can be a real pain sometimes, as my bench seems fairly heavy.
Glad to help
I'm very excited about the R8 and especially the PSK2!!! Ron must be very confident in both the R7's and R8's as he continues to work in his sandles!
R8 prototype V3 being built in the shop Today! I should get it end of week or early next. We are down to perfecting it at this point,
Thanks for posting this, Ron. I'm curious if you've ever experienced an accidental retraction when moving the bench around? It looks like you really have to lift them high to engage the retraction mechanism? Just curious as I could see myself rolling my bench and hitting an expansion joint in my shop and have things come to a sudden stop 🙂
The bench has to be lifted 1" to retract or deploy. I haven't had that happen by accident
So now there's a new plan?
Not yet, I am working on the design and casters. Once I have everything working, I will finalize the plans and post a video.
Will the overall size dimensions of SK2 be the same as SK1? - additionally will the SK1 be able to be modified using the new plans or need to create a whole new one?
Hey Ron, emailed the manufacturer and just a couple hours Bob sent a response will up fate me once the new R-8 casters are ready. Then I'll be looking for those plans for the smart cart !!
That's up date....😂
I looked at the website, does not have a Canada shipping option
Give Bob a call and ask him😎🤙
I'm IN! BTW I have PSK v1.0 plans and couldn't find the v2.0 update - can you tell me how to get them? Thanks :D
FYI R8 isn't orderable at Bob's store yet and as I'm outside the US I couldn't calculate shipping for existing R7's either - I've let Bob know that your International SmartFam is keen!
Peter, there is no PSK2 yet. I am two months into it with no end in sight. The R8s are still in development at this time. I submitted changes a few days ago and should receive R8 prototype V3 in a few days or next week. As soon as everything is available, I will post a video. I am documenting the process, which is both good and bad, as I want everyone to see what is going on and experience the process, but it is still a concept and may not make it to market.😎🤙
Are the templates for mounting the casters going to be available on new plans?
The plans have a long way to go, but I will have the pattern layout for mounting the R8 Casters.
Hi Ron - Where did you get that face shield, and how do you like it. I have seen you wear it several times.
Here you go! I will post a video soon! amzn.to/3R5ZC3v
@@TheSmartWoodshop Thanks Ron!
I wonder if the price difference is significant enough to offer both versus just offering the R8?
The R7 is a good design and will be best for most furniture designs. The R8 is much larger and heavier duty for commercial applications. R8 materials are more expensive.
