@@BibleBelievingChristian love you review. What would you say are the differences between the King James and the new King James in the Open Bible? Wow overcast stitching. I have a handysize new American Standard Open Bible genuine leather the Hat overcast/ stitching. My old Bibles in excellent condition. Made to last. I'm impressed with the new Open Bible. Thank you for sharing
Yes the overcast stitching is awesome and so nice to see, it’s rare these days to see it. They really stepped up their game and have been making some great quality Bibles. I just bought the NKJV and was wondering what the small ( a,b,c ) in the verses meant. Decided to search RUclips. Your review was the only one that explained it. Thank you very much for a awesome review!!
I just got mine this week. Nelson absolutely hit a homerun with this edition. The center-column references are so much better than the sparse inline refs of the previous Open Bibles. The genuine leather is beautiful soft and supple. The ribbons, red letter, font, and paper are all incredible. Far better quality all around than my Cambridge editions which cost 3x the price. My only complaints are that a couple pages in mine are printed very lightly, and yes the font does read small. It reads like a Cambridge Cameo 8pt font. I wish they had gone up to a 10pt rather than what they’re calling a 9pt.
Nelson did an excellent job on this one and I agree with you on all the features that you mentioned. I would love to see them do a large print edition and they said they’re considering it. If they do I’ll definitely get one. The fact that it has overcast stitching is amazing. They have really stepped up their game. Thank you very much for watching and taking the time to comment. I appreciate it.

That is as nice as the NKJV Open Bible. I do have a KJV genuine leather Open Bible which is 15 years old or so (?). Have always loved it, and the Open Bible system.
It’s an awesome Bible. They did a great job on it and they have really stepped up their game and are giving their customers what they’re asking for, quality Bibles at an affordable price. Thomas Nelson is doing an amazing job lately. Them and Zondervan both. I hope that they come out with a large print edition in the future. This one is very readable but to step up the font size a point or two would be great. Thank you for watching and commenting. I appreciate you sister.

You're welcome, Sister! I enjoy your reviews. They're always very detailed. This week I'm getting this Bible and the CBP Burgundy Top Grain Cowhide Note Takers Bible. I've already got the KJV Hebrew Greek Key Word Study Bible Genuine Leather Black. My reading Bible is the Cambridge Concord KJV Reference Goatskin Red-Letter Bible. I love reading and studying the Word of God. Wishing you a very Beautiful and Blessed weekend.
Mike Stephens the CBP top grain Cowhide is one of my absolute favorite leathers. They are beautiful and very durable! And the concord is an awesome Bible and packed with great features for such a portable Bible. I got a goatskin one for a great price but then a friend fell in love with it so off it went. The key word Study Bibles are great, I’ve got an older hardcover KJV edition. There’s so many excellent Bibles out there, we’re so blessed to have such a variety of them to choose from. We got one and luckily it is made in South Korea. Its great though we find the print to be too small however this print type is very comfortable to read indeed. We are looking now for the reprint of Dickson's KJV New Analytical Study Bible in Nelson's Comfort print and size and font size similar to Nelson's Premier KJV edition.
They did an awesome job on it and the quality is great. I have never seen the Dickson one except online, I’m told it’s an excellent Bible. The font on this one is a little small, they said they were considering making a large print edition and I sure hope they do cause I’d definitely buy one. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. I appreciate it. God bless.
@@BibleBelievingChristian You welcome. I really do hope they will come up with the larger font for the OB. This one is too small. Lets see but make sure you will be first to review it. In Truth and Peace
Love that shade of red letters along with a comfortable print. Great that it is VBV format too. I do wonder how common (or uncommon) VBV formats are in Bibles these days. Excellent review as always!
It’s an awesome Bible, they did a great job on it. VBV is getting harder and harder to find. I love a VBV double column format like this one. They are releasing a NKJV VBV Bible in October and I will be reviewing that one and I am sure it will be awesome. I’m a big fan of the NKJV, and I love the KJV as well...I’ve also got the Kingstone Bible trio on the way after seeing your video I had to get them so I’ll be doing an unboxing video and then a review of each individual volume. I am excited to see them. I think they’ll be great for when I just want to casually read. Thank you for watching and commenting. I appreciate you my friend.
@@BibleBelievingChristian Oh that is so awesome to hear! I am looking forward to your unboxing video of the Kingstone volumes and to hear your thoughts on it. @@BibleBelievingChristian I'd buy a large print!!! I'd prefer it actually. So you do like the new format? I wish they would have kept the T and R in the text and the years of events etc. They could add them back in.
Great review, thanks! Looks like a good edition, sadly the profit margins on Nelson Bibles are so low it makes little financial sense as a small retailer to sell them. So I stick to what I know! God bless
I never even thought of that but it makes sense and for you in the UK to get them to you would be costly due to shipping. Thank you for watching and commenting. Your store and website are in my daily prayers. I am happy to see you doing well.
Thank you very much! It’s an amazing Bible. They did a fantastic job on it. I really appreciate you watching and taking the time to comment. God bless.
I'm really puzzled - I have the same Bible, same ISBN. Yours has perimeter stitching on the cover. Mine does not. Everything else is the same. It's a great Bible. I'm just puzzled about the stitching. Thanks for the review, nicely done,
Beckywitt He goes before me they’re considering making a large print edition and I really hope they do. This one is very readable but I would love to see at least 1.5-2pts larger on the font, that would make a big difference. It’s an awesome Bible though. I’m very pleased with it. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. I appreciate it.
Check out some of my videos on CBP Bibles (Church Bible Publishers) they make some beautiful KJV Bibles in ironed calfskin, lambskin, water buffalo and they have lots of different text blocks too.
I just received a new NKJV Open Bible. I am very disappointed After doing a page-by-page comparison with my 1983 "The New Open Bible" I noticed several points. First, the font is too small. The comfort print is nice but too small. The old font is actually easier to read. Next, the new version does not have any of the study guides that are all through the old version. The "Christian's Guide to a New Life in the old version is very precise in that the verse the footnote at the bottom of the page refers is underlined - not in the new version. As a matter of fact, the notes may not even be on the same page. The "Topical Index" in the new version is just as wonderful as the old, but doesn't include the page number of each entry like the old. Maybe I am just lazy. I do like the center-column cross-references in the new version. Maybe if they just tighten up the space under the heading of each book, they would make room for a larger font. My old version of TNOB went a long way to further my walk with Christ. I am sure this new one will also help many. I guess I'll keep my old version. Anyone know a good re-binder? Thanks.
I can totally understand that. There are features in my older editions that the new one doesn't have and I don't know why some of the features weren't incorporated into this new one. The latest NIV Open Bible has a little bit different layout which I prefer over this one but they still left out the regular numbering system in the topical index which I don't like, I think anyone would prefer regular numbers. And the font is small, I would love to see them come out with a large print edition but I don't know if they will. Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to comment. I appreciate it very much 🙂
Do you know if there's any difference in the paper quality and the see through level of the paper when comparing this Bible in genuine leather versus the hard copy version??
How does the KJV Open Bible compare to the KJV Thompson Chain Reference Bible? Looking for a "simple" study Bible without all the man created notes and commentaries.
I just got mine yesterday and it does not look like this...It does not have the stitching on the front cover and is a lighter brown color. I am disappointed and do not know why as the product numbers are all the same and print date. Do you know why? I bought mine from Amazon.
This one does have very good paper n print quality. The font size it a little bit small for my liking but because the print quality is so good it is easier to read from than most Bibles with this size font. The premier collection editions have great paper and excellent bindings. The KJV preaching Bible is an awesome layout! Very nice to read from and it has the blue font for the subject headings and that color is very nice and that is a great Bible and one I use often to read from cause it is super comfortable and I don’t find any distractions with it at all. Thank you for watching and commenting
I’d have to go with the NKJV only cause I prefer that translation more but aside from that I’d go with the KJV cause it has better stitching cause it has overcast stitching which makes the binding stronger. But if they both had overcast stitching I’d take the NKJV.
@@BibleBelievingChristian Mine comes in tomorrow. Super excited! I've been watching your video repeatedly, I'm that excited. I'm worse than a little child...at 59 1/2!!!!😃👍
Bro. Rocco Rubino awesome! It’s a great Bible. The font is a little bit small but it’s very readable still. I’d love to see them do a large print edition but they haven’t decided yet if they will do that in the future. The font size is the only complaint I’ve seen from anyone. Of course a larger font is always nice but as long as it is readable then I am happy. The KJV also has overcast stitching as well. It’s got some differences from the NKJV edition. They were done in different countries. I have a video where I show the differences. It is a great Bible! I hope that you’ll be happy with it once it arrives. It’s always exciting to get a new Bible.
I recently bought this Bible in Brown Genuine Leather and noticed very quickly that the leather on the cover crinkles up and almost comes up when you are opening it? Have you noticed this?
I have not noticed that with mine. I broke mine in gently and then used a mink oil treatment on it. Not sure if that made a difference or not. It might be worth trying.
Bible Believing Christian Thank you so much, but I found out from others that it’s a defect. Now I’m trying to find out through Thomas Nelson how to return it for another one.
They should have a customer service email on their website that you can email them and send photos of it. They have a great warranty. I’ll have to keep an eye on mine to make sure it doesn’t do that.
I love that you can get this quality Bible in a leathersoft for such an affordable price. I went with the genuine leather because I plan on using it a lot and wanted something that could complete with my premium bibles so I would want to read it. Someone else said that this is a Reference Bible w/helps and that’s exactly what I was wanting. Just enough extras to learn some things but not overload. For those of us who already have study bibles with commentary, this is a great middle ground! Mainly, I wanted a Bible with book intros & references. I plan on using colored microns to underline in this beauty. I can’t wait to get mine.
It’s an excellent Bible and is perfect for what you want it for. It is nice that is has a lot of great features and it’s still a very portable Bible and not overwhelming like some study Bibles can be. The pigma micron 005 pens would be perfect in this one. The 05 ones might show through a little bit but I always test them in the back pages of the concordance. I am sure you will love this Bible once you receive it. The KJV also has overcast stitching which is an added bonus. Thank you for watching and commenting. I appreciate it
Bible Believing Christian It just arrived in the mail. Mainly, I’m really happy that the paper is opaque and has a semi coated feel and when you’re spending money it’s always nice to know it has a good binding. I don’t really know why the font reads small, maybe because they chose a thicker paper. It’s not hard for me to read though. Glad to see the plethora of references and helps look great!
Awesome! I am so glad you like it. Yeah it does read smaller, it was one of their first ones with this font and their other editions seem to be a little larger and they are considering doing a large print open Bible but haven’t made a firm decision on it yet but the content in it is excellent and it really does have a nice binding so it should hold up very well for you

I'm really puzzled - I have the same Bible, same ISBN. Yours has perimeter stitching on the cover. Mine does not. Everything else is the same. It's a great Bible. I'm just puzzled about the stitching. Thanks for the review, nicely done,
I wonder if yours was the second print run ..? That’s the only thing I can think of.
I was hoping for a larger print
Beckywitt He goes before me they’re considering making a large print edition and I really hope they do. This one is very readable but I would love to see at least 1.5-2pts larger on the font, that would make a big difference. It’s an awesome Bible though. I’m very pleased with it. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. I appreciate it.
Just spent 150.00 dollars to get my dad's from the 80's rebound.
Oh awesome! That is such a fantastic gift idea to have his beloved Bible rebound. That is so neat ❤️
I just want a leatherbound kjv without all the extra fluff
I appreciate it very much 🙂
How much the price? I need too
Do you know if there's any difference in the paper quality and the see through level of the paper when comparing this Bible in genuine leather versus the hard copy version??
As far as I know the text blocks should be the same with the same paper etc as this one.
How's the paper quality compared to Preaching Bible and Premier KJV?
This one does have very good paper n print quality. The font size it a little bit small for my liking but because the print quality is so good it is easier to read from than most Bibles with this size font. The premier collection editions have great paper and excellent bindings. The KJV preaching Bible is an awesome layout! Very nice to read from and it has the blue font for the subject headings and that color is very nice and that is a great Bible and one I use often to read from cause it is super comfortable and I don’t find any distractions with it at all. Thank you for watching and commenting
Does this bible have the page number reference like previous KJV bible had? I know the NKJV does not.
If you would have to pick one is it the nkjv or KJV ?
I’d have to go with the NKJV only cause I prefer that translation more but aside from that I’d go with the KJV cause it has better stitching cause it has overcast stitching which makes the binding stronger. But if they both had overcast stitching I’d take the NKJV.
Would you happen to know the font size of the notes at the bottom of the pages?
I don’t recall the font size on the notes. I am not sure if it is listed on Christianbook or not but they often have the font size and notes size.
@@BibleBelievingChristian Thank you kindly , God bless.
Do you think the leather will last longer than the faux leather. ?
Yes I think the genuine leather would hold up longer over time.
Sewn or glued?
Sewn.
Live in Brazil. I haven't been able to buy one yet.
Here there is no
Have you checked out christianbook or book depository..? They both ship world wide for reasonable prices.
