Thank you again for your videos. I always look forward seeing them , and you did make me laugh today you are not the only one with knitting issues. You are such a kind and wonderful person don’t change anything to your videos
Thank you x
Ruth another podcast of you dat gave me a big smile on my face.
I am one of those who watch till the and, because you give me hope and my believe back in what I lost along the way, thank you so much for that !
Wish you the best and looking forward to the next elisode again.
Thank you x
I once heard that a pattern is only a guide, not a contract, and have to remind myself of that from time to time! It’s perfectly ok to make the item our own. 😉
I definitely made my shawls my own this time !
Hello Dear Ruth , and DEAR your are. Always enjoy and delight in your visits ! Thank you ( ^ : * ) marcia
I love your dedication to God.
The world needs Him so much !!
May He bless you.
Absolutely but sadly many don't want to know x
God bless you. I'm so glad I'm not the only one who screws up her knitting. Thanks for this video, I feel so much better.
Ruth it's your knitting and you can cast on and off at your whims!!!! xxxooo! You are such a lovely spirit!
as always, I enjoyed this episode. It seems the longer I knit, the more classes I take, the more I study knitting, yarn construction, etc. the more mistakes I make! Be easy on yourself!
I had my own knitting misadventure this week. We can laugh about them together.
I finally decided to purchase the Musselburgh hat pattern. I’ve been watching other podcasters rave about the pattern and how much they enjoy it - so I came rather late to the Musselburgh party, but decided it was time to join in.
I read all the directions and loved that you knit so far and then check your gauge and that will help you decide how many increases to do and how many total stitches to use for the body. I followed the instructions exactly.
But when my hat was finished after knitting increases, 18 inches of body and decreases, the hat was HUGE on me. My father in law lives next door and loves when I knit him hats so he tried it and it was HUGE on him (even though the size I was aiming for was an adult medium.)
I rechecked my gauge on the now finished and blocked hat and discovered that my gauge after blocking was 6 stitches to the inch. My beginning gauge, before blocking, was 8 stitches to the inch. Yikes! Huge difference. I guess that’s why we are told to gauge swatch and block 😮
I had no other alternative but to tink it all out, rewind the yarn and start over.
I visited an LYS yesterday and was explaining what happened. In addition to not checking my gauge after blocking (hard lesson learned) I also was using superwash fingering weight yarn. The knitter at the yarn store explained that superwash has a tendency to really stretch out when blocked. Lesson number two learned the hard way. I would switch to another type of yarn for my next Musselburgh but my hands break out in a rash when I use non superwash wool (boo hoo)
In spite of my misadventures I really like the Musselburgh pattern and I’m already planning another one once I finish remaking my first one. 😊
Absolutely love your infectious cheerful spirit. Love the devotionals too.
Almost exactly the same thing happened with my Musselburgh hat too. Ripped it out and have never cast it on
again.
@@ruthlovestoknitpodcast oh my. Misery loves company. Why does it seem to work so well for all the others I see knitting it over and over again?
You must be having trouble sleeping again? Such a quick reply and it must me midnight in the UK?
Just after 11pm. Hubby telling me off 😅
Ruth nearly fell off the sofa 😂. Thank you what a surprise 🎉. 🙏
Will get it sorted for you x
I had a misadventure yesterday. I’m working on my shawl for the Kal and doing a fade with some mini skeins. I got done fading my last color in and thought I was in the home stretch when I realized I missed one mini ball of yarn. So I watched your podcast while frogging and putting it right. 😅
Thanks for sharing your misadventures.
Somehow it makes me feel better that others mess up too 😅
I come for your lovely knitting. I stay for your message. Thank you.
Another lovely episode Ruth, you never fail to put a smile on my face, thank you 😊 your shawls are so beautiful as always (what mistake ?😉)
Thank you so much for the shout out that’s so kind of you x Tracy x
You are so welcome x
How wonderful that your mishaps are fabulous! You’re wonderful to watch.
Ruth, thank you for your entertaining podcast....it made my day! You are such a delight.
Thank you x
Thank you for a wonderful episode, Ruth. Always such a joy to "visit" you and knit a little while together with you☕️🧶 God bless you and your family🧡
Thank you x
I'm glad I am not the only one that makes mistakes. Love your color choices in both your shawls.
But 3 times!!!!
That's no mistakes! That's design features!
Regards ❤️ Chrissy
This is lovely, Ruth. ❤️ All of your knits, even the imperfect ones 😘, are beautiful. And your sharing of God's Word will never fail. It was very encouraging and spot on. I look forward to next time! 🥰
Love your MKAL colors!! Your podcast always makes me smile and laugh out loud. I feel like we’re all friends sharing the same wooly journey thru life’s ups and downs. It’s amazing how our knitting can reflect our successes and misadventures😊 Thank you for making both so much fun
Thanks for watching xx
What I LOVE about your vlog is you “ say it as it is” Ruth. So fabulous we see your wonderful knitting but the warts and all - and then your chat at the end. Just perfect and you also make me laugh with the way you say things. A breath of fresh air indeed. Just what we all need. ❤
Thank you x
Nice to hear that we all have knitting misadventures - I appreciate your attitude. Looking forward to the MKAL! (Dawn)
Yes, always good to visit w/you❤
Your daughter's knitted mitts are so gorgeous and the picot edged ones are simple and elegant. The three knits that went haywire just made me laugh. I thoroughly enjoy your podcasts
Ruth I so love your tales! So down to earth and full of joy. Thank you for sharing your unintended mods 😂. I’ve made SO many and feel vindicated haha. Thank you for bringing me this joy today
Lovely episode as always Ruth 🥰 I was winding yarn for project number 14 as you were showing the cup 😂 made me feel much better!! Love your shawl - I think it looks gorgeous!! Xx
Realised after I recorded that you have a website now sorry about that x
@@ruthlovestoknitpodcast oh don't worry!! I appreciate the shoutout very much thankyou 🥰 xx
Love that you were so honest about those "misadventures"! I had to laugh! I quickly put the "Glee" shawl in my favorites! Love it!
Wonderful episode! The colors for your MKAL are fantastic 😍 can’t wait to see how it turns out!
Me too x
Lovely podcast as always Ruth and thank you so much for the shout out! This is such a welcoming and wonderful community and I just feel so good to be part of it. I love your colours for the west knits KAL - it's going to look so good!
I truly appreciate your love for knitting!
Always great to visit with you this morning, I laughed along with you and your rooster friend. You always bring joy
Congratulations to both ladies winning some great patterns. It was great watching you Ruth and seeing your lovely "mismade" projects 😀
Oh I really love the yellow and light gray socks, the colors look great together. Your daughter did a wonderful job dying the yarn, the gloves are so very pretty. Now I need to knit them 😄. Appreciated the visit today and hearing the Word. Have a great week friend 💛
Thank you x
We’ve all been having misadventures. I’m knitting a cardigan in pieces which calls for a three needle bind off to join the shoulders. I did the first one then wove in the ends before noticing that I had joined the right front to the back left shoulder. Took ages to find the woven in ends to unpick the cast off. Only one major mistake as I only have three wips one of which is socks.
Oh no. Hope you got it sorted. X
You are truly an angel on earth. Your knits are beautiful as always whether they be exactly like a pattern or with your own spin. That rooster was making me laugh out loud 🐓 Thanks for the visit, until next time. Yours in Christ. 🙏
Your comment made my hubby laugh. He says you don't have to live with me 🤭🤭
I’m almost caught up with your lovely podcasts, Ruth, and you are such a joy to spend time with. You always make me laugh and this episode was probably one of your best. The misadventures are superb, and it’s comforting to know that I’m not alone! I love every moment and can’t wait for the next one. God bless you ❤
I found you just when you are going to take a break. I love you you already. Lol. I hope your break is restful and joyful. And your love of our Lord is is refreshing. Thank you. Peace to you till we meet again.
Hi Ruth. All of your knits are lovely and I really like the little poncho you are making. Thank you for the encouraging devotion at the end.
Thanks for watching x
Another grand podcast! Love the rooster's input! And Eva's yarn colours are spectacular!
Thank you Ruth, I’m glad even experienced knitters can make mistakes. I’ve get so frustrated with myself when I don’t understand the pattern. All your makes turn out beautiful.
Ruth I love your cheerful attitude. Jesus shines through you. Blessings.
I laughed with you as you showed your knitting misadventures- I’m very often travelling that road myself 😂 Eva’s mitts look great- such a fun yarn! I’m excited to see your mkal colours play together, I think it’s going to look joyful ✨ Lovely to catch up with you, happy knitting 🤗
No rubbish knitting only design elements. Your knitting is wonderful.
Another lovely podcast Ruth. I actually loved seeing your misadventures! It happens to us all and it just means that your projects are a the more unique! They're still beautiful xx
I love your mistakes! Proof that non of us are perfect! Keep knitting!!
Hi Ruth! Your lovely podcast is one of my very favorites! I am watching some back episodes and your misadventures in this one have made me feel so much better as I’ve been losing my knitting confidence lately too! Thank you for sharing your knitting adventure and misadventures!
I also always love when you share what is on your heart at the end of each podcast. It always seems to be just what I need to hear at that moment. ❤️❤️
Arwetta Are my togo yarn for my socks, pull the thread that come from inside in the end, then IT do not collaps 🌹😍 Filcolana yarn Are all very cheap and really Nice all.( Pernilla, Saga, Alva, Merci, arwetta, is the one i Try) Im too like you, MKAL just because he say cabel needle then im hoocked)
The mitts use it double so I pulled from the middle and outside. I am definitely in love with it.
@@ruthlovestoknitpodcast aha understand, yes its really nice yarn and sooo many colours!
You have to try LANG yarn Yawolle aswell ,same type ball , but with a baby i side! 🥰🥰love watching you Ruth!
Hi Ruth,
Again a wondeful podcast!
You don't knit mistakes! You are knitting your own design features! All is very beautiful!
When are you knitting all that? I am retired and Knit a lot, but it looks like you have turbo needles!
Thank you
Regards ❤️ Chrissy
Sorry, my English brain didn't want to work today!
Turbo needles 😅😅 Your English is fantastic x
HI Ruth!!!another great episode!!!
Love all UR makes,,mistakes🏛or not,,,
Love the mitts,,,
Just found wishes and wool,,,,love them!!!
Thanks elaine😍😍😍
Loved the knitting boo boos. They were all lovely and made distinct design elements. ❤️ Lol, I did something very similar with a pair of socks that I didn't make at same time. I've made so many that I know by heart the measurements that I want for fit. However, I did not remember that on the first sock that I had knit the leg longer than usual to use up the yarn. So when I made the second "from memory" it is a whole pattern sequence shorter than the first one. I will wear them under jeans so no problem. 🙂 Loved the shawl too.
Distinct design elements....love it x
Just beautiful colors for MKAL. That pop really pops.🤗
It really does. Very unlike me to use bright pink.
Oh, Ruth, you did make me laugh when you showed your socks, I did the same thing but on the toes, and what made it funnier for me was they were given to a friend of mine, she didn't mind at all. Love your podcasts as they always cheer me up, thank you xx
Thanks for watching x
I've also gone back to the heel flap too 😁 loved the guest appearance 🐔
It's only a Bantam but he has big lungs.
😂😂 love it xx
Thank you for sharing alternate ways to knit a pattern! I love your "misadventures". I often evaluate my knitting to decide if any alteration of a pattern needs to be corrected or will be a design feature! Enjoy your week.
Oh Ruth, I was on the train on my way to Skipton to Yarndale as I watched you. I'm sure the other passengers thought I was mad, I laughed till I cried at your misadventures, thank you for another wonderful episode ❤
So glad I could keep you company. Would love to go to Yarndale some day x
Thanks for sharing your misadventures! Love your attitude, you always make me smile.
Knitting misadventures? I think not! I prefer to think of them as pattern enhancements. 😊
Thank you for another lovely podcast.
Thank you for a lovely podcast. I’m glad you have a sense of humor about your knitting misadventures. It seems you have made the best of them. Jeremiah 29:11 is an oft misunderstood verse. That promise was given to the Jews as they were taken into exile by the Babylonians. Read in context, it’s not for us today. Even so, I appreciate that you share your faith in Jesus Christ. ❤
Yes I know the context but very thankful that even today God still has a plan for us x
@@ruthlovestoknitpodcast Me too!!🤗
As always I enjoyed our little chat.
Love all your knitting! Perhaps ‘design festures’ instead of misadventures??? 😊💛
Thanks for another great episode, Ruth. I appreciate your honesty about making mistakes in your knitting! I often make mistakes, sometimes needing flogged amd sometimes I just fudge it in the next row. ☺
What a fun episode...thank you Ruth!🌸🌻 I just laughed and laughed! Perhaps you were subconsciously designing a shawl and adding it to yours🤣.....look at the positive ..you knitted two socks and not three at least!...
Glad I could make you laugh ... my job is done x
Jeremiah 29:11 was my husband's verse as he fought cancer, and he shared it with others. When he went to heaven in March, we put that verse on the cover of his funeral bulletin. It is a good reminder for me as I learn to live without him.
I am so sorry for your loss. Your husband had amazing faith. Praying for this new journey you are now on. Xx
Another lovely podcast, Ruth. Excited to see all the Stephen West MKAL shawls coming. Everyone's color choices are so gorgeous. I can't wait to see yours, I love the Linen Quill colors you chose. Hugs!
I imagine I would call those misadventures too if it had happened to me and it does make you feel odd that things don’t turn out as you expected….But definitely call it a win if you like the finished product regardless! Try not to be so hard on yourself!
Wow! What great projects. Loved your podcasts which I have been binging for 2 days. Looking forward to more!
Thanks for sharing Christ , you are such a blessing❤️🇺🇸
Love the tidbit at the end of the podcast. In our relief society two weeks ago it was about going through the storms of life and psalm 23. It was a good lesson. And then hearing it from you today was cool. I love all your projects. I love watching these podcasts. I have others I watch as well like meanwhile at the castle and knitting traditions and others. I get inspiration from watching you and others. Hope you have a lovely day. 😍
You're the first person besides me I've ever heard say they like the crinkling sound! Something about hearing yarn packaging that soothes my soul, I guess. 🙂
Love it x
Such a heartfelt episode. Thank you for sharing your knitting detours. I memorized Psalm 23 in the King James Version, but hearing you say it was so meaningful. Thank you for sharing your love and zeal with the ladies in recovery. ❤
All my memory verses are in the King James version too but I think it is hard for everyone to grasp sometimes. X
Thanks very much for the lovely mention, it’s very much appreciated 😊❤️
❤❤❤ so good to see you podcast this morning. ❤❤❤
My knitting friend and I always say every project needs an Amish error : cause it reminds us we aren’t perfect and we need God. I love your wonky shawl ( can I call it that ?). Its perfect and I bet lovely and cosy
Never heard that saying before but will definitely adopt it. You can definitely say wonky x
Thank you for the podcast, Ruth! We all make knitting mistakes but it's nice to laugh about them instead of getting frustrated. A positive outlook always helps and I appreciate that you share your knitting problems with us. We're all on the knitting journey together. I hope you have a wonderful week!
Thank for watching x
thank you Ruth, we have just lost our 48 year old son in a motor cycle accident this month, I am a Christian and your words were a tonic to my soul in this tragic time.💞🕊
I am so so sorry for your incredible loss. So thankful you can cling to the Lord at this time. Sending you much love and praying for you and your family at this time x
@@ruthlovestoknitpodcast thank you Ruth💞
Don't apoloize about the sounds of the county, Ruth, sounds wonderful! I live in the county too, its the best of both worlds, you can go to the city snd feel blessed when you get back home! Lol
Thank you Ruth, it is always lovely to listen to you.
I love hearing your rooster! Also I never heard your fan, don’t feel you have to turn it off for us! You are quite a talented knitter, thank s for sharing.
Hello Ruth! I am a relatively new viewer/subscriber. I live in a small community called Pleasant Shade in the state of Tennessee in the southeast US. You are just so enjoyable to watch! Knitting is supposed to be fun, and you certainly have fun with it! It makes me feel better knowing that others have "misadventures" too. I am laughing out loud at your extra 97 stitches, so funny. Thank you for your podcast, and the time you take at the end of each to praise our Savior! You are a blessing 😊
Pleasant Shade sounds lovely. Thanks for watching x
I love the colors for your MAK. I think the yellow striped socks will be perfect for charity knitting. I will now have to make the striped half and half. My first plain one is nearly done but I kept thinking variegated yarn would be perfect. It is a lot of calming knitting. Be well!
Love your podcast Ruth you always make me feel that I can have a go at anything ❤
Thanks. Xx
I don't know what ever possessed me to decide to knit a 4 skein shawl during the hottest months of the year. It's languished in the corner for 2 months. Thankfully it's cooled down here and I've been knitting my little fingers off. I think I'll be able to finish in time. Whew!
Just enjoy it. Don't put any pressure on yourself x
I love misadventures! I have those too! 💛💛💛
Hi Ruth, I love your podcast and your words of The gospel and God. I am arranging Hospice for my husband who has multiple myeloma and am working get him home. I am asking for your prayers for us both. This has been two years of pain and suffering both physical and emotional. I have thought about contacting you many times. You are a wonderful person. Candy🙏🏻💕
I am so sorry for what you are both going through. I will of course pray for you and your husband. If you want to email me to "chat" privately, feel free xx
Dear Ruth , your misadventures are mild compared to the trouble I’m having with a lace and bobble yoke which I’ve ripped back at least twenty times!! I’m still determined to get it as I don’t have another pattern in mind for that yarn! I’ve given away a lot of yarn , I’m just keeping yarn for wips( which are many many! ) but I will finish them. Just started the most gorgeous Xmas socks for my daughter with wys new color gingerbread . I simply had to have it! Also started a Marie Wallin bottom up yoke with minimal Colorwork to use up some of the Jamieson and Smith I have in stash, but wasn’t thrilled with the color, so I ripped that and ordered the M Wallin British breeds which is expensive but I know I’ll be happy with it! Even your mistakes are gorgeous!! As always so enjoyed the pod cast until the next happy knitting!!
If I really struggle with a pattern sometimes I find it better to put it in the naughty corner for a while and come back to it with fresh eyes. Your projects sound amazing.
Oh Ruth!… too funny❤️. Misadventures are half the fun… I made the Stillness shawl by Helen Stewart… should have maxed at 500(ish) stitches…. I bound off 1000!!!!.. NO idea what I did… but it explains the yarn chicken issue(lol)….and by the way… your shoulders …. support a strong mind, beautiful smile, and crown a generous and giving heart❤️. Can’t wait for the next episode👏👏👏❤️
Thanks lovely 😍 👌
A joy to watch, as always!
Do you find it helpful, too, to hear of other folks who's knitting has not gone exactly how they wanted? It's lovely because on social media we often see everyone putting on their "best" self and skating over mistakes, but actually it's really wonderful to see real knitters. It doesn't always go the way we think it will, including 10, 30, 30... 90+ stitches appearing from who knows where. 😀
Loving your Christian content, too. I am very poorly at the moment and have been for several years. In that time I have gotten married (yay!) and looking back, my illness has had an unexpectedly positive impact on myself, my husband and our marriage. God has most certainly used this very difficult time for our good - I never would have predicted (or asked for) that but looking back and even in the present day that am still poorly in, we can see God at work and it's wonderful. Love that section of your podcast, too!
Misery loves company I think. Lots of folk have said they feel better fir my mistakes 😵💫 Sorry you have been poorly but very thankful that you are looking at the positives and trusting God is all circumstances xx
Aaaaaaahhhh! Just sat folding my washing and up pops the school run mittens! I’m so glad you enjoyed the pattern, I agree there is something satisfying about a simple knit! I need to make a new pair for Penny and I can make a pair in a few hours!
I’m so glad you have discovered the wonder or arwetta! I chose it because it seems to get even softer and squishier when it’s held double!??!! It’s. Roll isn’t for socks too, I’ve never had a hole! Xx
Definitely more pairs in my future x
Oh wow, thank you so much....will really look forward to my Lauren Peterson (Patterson) pattern ;--)
Hi Ruth I from Northern Ireland I am a member faith mission I am very grind of Caroline Harrison
I’m excited to try the school run mitts! As always, I’ve enjoyed your podcast! Can’t wait to see the Stephen West mkal shawl! God bless you!
Go for it. There may be a sneaky giveaway coming x
Thank you Ruth. What a great way to start the day. You are so positive and happy. I’m going to the show today ……even though I had new lenses to buy this week!!!😳😁. Just looking 🧶🧶🧶???
Enjoy yourself x
@@ruthlovestoknitpodcast thanks. I’ll try. 😁😁
I love hearing your rooster
Hi Ruth I am from north Ireland I am member the Faith idiom I like to knit
Always look forward to your videos, your podcast is my favorite! Youre so joyful 😊Thank you so much for the mention, you are so sweet! ❤️ I think your love for shawls has rubbed off on me because it seems to be my new fav thing to knit! So excited to see your west knits shawl this year 😍😍
P.s. funny you used the word "Elvin", last time my hair was this short I was working in hospitality during Christmas time and was even hired to dress up as an elf and read stories to the kids 😂 wish I had a picture!!
Love it. Just had my hair chopped.
Great podcast as usual, Ruth.
You might like the Pioneer Gloves pattern by Kelly McClure if you’re going to be gift knitting mitts as they’re ribbed which makes the fit less crucial. I’ve made them for myself and my daughter and we both love the shape and fit. And the pattern is free!
Will definitely have a look x
Love your daughter’s mitts
Thank you so much very entertaining. Made me feel much better about my own inability to read the pattern, got to the end of the front, and did the first side only to find I have lost some stitches, very careless you might say. Well I may just have to rip back now and take it out of timeout and try again. Great episode loved it.
At least you didn't have 97 extra stitches!!
Oh, don't turn your fan off for us!! It doesn't bother us at all!
Love those MKAL colors
