14:04 - The 1979 Ford Probe I Ghia Concept would later perish in a fire on its way back home. Some really sad news for the entire community to be made aware of.
Man that Cizetta transverse V16 is wild! Giorgio Moroder is an icon, a true artiste, and a legend in electronic music. And clearly, he lives his cars. Thanks RMO! Looking forward to more coverage.
The Cizetta has a distinct similarity to the Lamborghini Diablo for the entire frontal area and passenger pod. This is easily explained, I'm sure, and also sure many other viewers would be curious to know the connection.
every single car here is on my bucket list of cars I have got to see some day (even though I did see a Mercedes C111 at Frankfurt Motorshow once). Totally awesome line up!
Great video, and all great cars but the Countach has always stolen my heart. I'm blessed to have driven the very important one that will be on the next VinWiki episode. Thanks.
Good evening Richard . Well , concept cars can always be controversial and one mans meat is another mans poison ! As an Aston lover the Bulldog was my favourite ......just ! I'm sure that to see them in real life gives them a completely different perspective . Thanks Richard
As a kid of the 70s, I always loved the wedges - most cars on display here has been favorites of mine for a very long time. What an awesome collection!
That was fun! Interestingly I have seen the first 4 cars, all in different cities - the Modulo at Pebble, the Ghia "Gilda" in Denver, the BMW Turbo in Colorado Springs and the Mercedes in Vail. I also saw the white Cizeta at Canepa Design in Scotts Valley, CA. I truly hope to see the Stratos Zero and Aston Bulldog someday.
I was 12 in 1979 when the Bulldog appeared on the cover of Autocar magazine which I had just started buying. This was such an amazing looking car in its day and still is now. I'm a huge fan of 70s Aston's to this day.
Hi! My name is Bucketroo, and I'm a wedgeoholic. Seriously, I remember half these cars from my childhood, and I had some of them as toys. My all-time favorite is the Ferrari Pininfarina Modulo. Honorable mention for the BMW Turbo, Lancia Stratos Zero, and the Bertone Carabo (not in this video, sadly).
I remember seeing in a Ferrari coffee table book. That had that wedge shape proto-type, almost the same but not quite. Not sure how many were made but this one I remember was also from a 512BB frame but it was i a pearlescent light green with gold reflective glass....was such a stunning car. I remember it to this day as I was so taken with the car.
Thanks for the tour of this great line-up! My favorite era of styling. If only they'd had the Alfa Romeo Carabo there, they would have had the trifecta with that and the Modulo and Stratos.
Thank you for sharing, these concepts are so beautiful in their own way and interesting to get a glimpse at how the automotive creators pave our way... a thrilling video indeed, one stay hook as soon as starting to watch.
Wonderful narration as always. I have been lucky enough to sit in two of these: the Rainbow and the Stratos Zero, which is powered by a rather noisy Fulvia Sport engine. I was at the Grugliasco facility for Bertone when Dr. Panicco drove up in the Stratos, and the Press went wild. Some of them didn't realise that in 1987 that car was already 17 years old! The Marzal is my all time favourite- hope she comes to Pebble one of these days. I can't help but think that the Modulo was the inspiration for the Space:1999 Eagle Transporter. What say you? BTW a friend of mine met you at the Quail- he has an XK150, and said that you're even more charming in person than on the videos. PS, for the love of all things Italian: Lancia is pronounced "LAN CHA" The LAN= "LON, not LAN as in Lamp." Cheers
Wedge intro: I picked up maybe 4 Road & Track issues at a garage sale as a kid. Some had 1970+ Italian show cars like the Modulo with the the Countach soon to follow. I kept looking at every inch above a car's front wheel arch as if it needed to be justified... By design gods, not anything as ordinary as an engine.
Haha I came to say the same thing. RMO gives the absolute best show coverage. Being able to voice over all that info live, that really separates RMO from the folks who simply weak around and show the cars. I find that uninspiring. Give me RMOs enthusiasm any day!
Shame the Adams Probe 16 ("Durango 95" from Clockwork Orange) was not ready for concours yet. Restoration update: ruclips.net/video/TwNuMmFM_O4/видео.html
Just watched the news report about this got burned in the trailer in transit Most comments are people talking trash I feel bad for the owners 🛞🛞🛞🛞🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

14:04 Breaking News > Ford Probe destroyed in fire after this event. I am SO GLAD Richard shared this video with us. I loved it. So sad
Yep, I read that as well and came on to see if someone posted it. Sad news indeed. :(
😮 Oh no 😢
Thanks so much for taking us along on your tour of the Wedge cars. Some amazing one of a kind cars.
RIP, 1979 Ford Probe I Ghia Concept, you were taken before your time.
You’ve mastered the concourse one-take with your smooth camera work and vast knowledge! Thanks.

awesome video :)

It was an impressive class. Thanks for watching John! 🥂
For a contrast, too bad you did not show the Aptera!
14:09 burned down completely after this
I enjoy and look forward to your videos from Monterrey ! Thank you so much!
Thanks for sharing with us. Some beautiful cars and fantastic ideas that the engineers came up with. Cheers
Great video, and all great cars but the Countach has always stolen my heart. I'm blessed to have driven the very important one that will be on the next VinWiki episode. Thanks.

Aerodynamics meet aesthetics in the sleekest way possible
Always a treat Sir to see you at the Peeble Beach covering the cars so nicely!!
I SO appreciate you sharing all of this with us. The chances of me attending Monteray week are essentially zero, so thank you, thank you, thank you.
Great to have you along 🥂
As a kid of the 70s, I always loved the wedges - most cars on display here has been favorites of mine for a very long time. What an awesome collection!
Agreed!! Thanks for watching 🥂
Thanks for recording these cars, never seen most before. That Corvette is outstanding!

Fantastic display of stying genius! Great video Michael!

Amazing cars. How great you got to see all these up close. I bet you'd love to go for a drive in some of them. I know I would.
Great video! I can't wait for a more dolphin shaped car like the Aptera that was also at Pebble Beach that weekend but as a ferry car.

I’m missing a TRIUMPH TR7, one of a few mass produced wedge cars. I had one, when I was 20.
thank you from manhattan
The Ford probe prototype burned down in the trailer leaving that event.
Thanks for the tour of this great line-up! My favorite era of styling. If only they'd had the Alfa Romeo Carabo there, they would have had the trifecta with that and the Modulo and Stratos.
I totally agree!
outstanding car, if you want the future go to the past
Love to see Giorgio's Cizeta!
Missing: Fiat X1/9, Triumph TR7/8.
That was awesome!!! I love concept cars, especially wedges. I really like the concourse. Great combination, thank you.

Wow amazing cars Rich! So unique!!!
Wow! Awesome! Thank you.
Awesome Glockenhaus fit steering (and quite a bit of other work) and got the Modolo actually drivable. Had a poster on my wall when I was a kid.
A Fiat X 19 would have fit into that exhibit.
The Bertone Runabout (actually an Autobianchi) would be awesome. Drove an X1/9 for ten years, and miss those days.
Wonderful narration as always. I have been lucky enough to sit in two of these: the Rainbow and the Stratos Zero, which is powered by a rather noisy Fulvia Sport engine. Thanks for that walk through. They should of had an M-505 in the class (aka Durango 95).
They left out the triumph tr7, the ultimate wedge car.
The shape of things to come! …a great slogan!
Good morning Richard! They are amazing cars 👍. My favorite is the Countach. Best regards from Hans and Cheers 🥐☕🍰🇦🇹
Thanks Hans, great to have you along 🥂
What these cars show is how awesome the Bertone X1/9 was as a design. The blue Bertone Ferrari is basically a Fiat.
The Hot Wheels designers are gonna be up all night.
Thank you

I was starting to get worried you weren't there this year. Looking forward to more videos. Is there a video from the Tour coming soon?

Thanks. I noticed that unlike Lamborghini, in the Stratos Zero Lancia had a rear view mirror that could actually see a rear view 😂.
Love this. Soo many cars in that lineup I remember only seeing in top trump playing cards and in books in the 80’s.
What? No cyber truck?
I filmed the load-in on these cars, and there is an epic cybertruck moment. Thanks for watching.
Missing from the display was far & away the most stunningly beautiful wedge car...the Ferrari 512S Berlinetta Speciale...inexcusable.
I remember thinking these wedge cars were amazing back in the 1970s. Not so much by the mid 1980s.
Am I wrong or are these taillights on the lotec merc. from the Alfa 164

Wondering about that, saw it parked in the general lot
Wedge cars😃
Aerovette hit's all of the others!
"skoo-deh-REE-uh" !!! (Or did your regular viewers long ago give up on this?)
I'm not Italian
Sadly, that Ford Probe just burned up in a fire.
Wow just saw the photos, tragic
1979 ford probe burned last night in Monterey.
Sadly yes
No cyber truck? 😂
There was on load in, that's another video. Thanks for watching
Gotta luv them wedgies!
Geez, that red Ford at the end is ugly
every Ford in 1979 was ugly.
Some designers just don't get it.
Burned up after the show in the trailer
No TR7 or *8
like 94 !
Turbine not turban engine
Engine or en gine? Asking for a friend
