    Don't understand all the dislikes. This video is good. Yes, what TITANS_of_the_EARTH is saying in the top, pinned comment is true, but that don't make this video bad overall.
    Even the fact that you record with a 2nd PC, so be able to capture crashes and so on, it's just that bit more you do for this video, which is great compared to other videos. Also you explain everything really well and in a good pace too.

    Most important point for Ampere is missing.
    Open the Curve and LOWER the maximum clockspeed under the critical value of boostclock.
    If your card runs in demanding games with max 2000mhz any didn't crash BUT in not demanding games the boost goes up to 2050 an crashes.
    Lower the highest points of thd curve.
    And that's it!
    For example: if you card runs around 1900 and you ad +100 to core...and then open the curve crtl+F ...you will see the right end of the curve is the curve doesn't end at (1900+100) 2000mhz.
    The graph goes perhaps up to 2100 at the right end.
    Now you have to lower all points behind 2000mhz...
    So your card nover boosts over 2000...and is stable.

    Undervolting 3000 series cards is the best thing to do. You can significantly lower your power usage while maintaining near exact performance. These cards are known to not overclock well at all, but grant a huge efficiency boost from a simple undervolt. All current guides show really amazing results.

    • @overclockersclub
      @overclockersclub  3 года назад +1

      You must mean power target. You cannot go below 100% on the voltage slider for NVIDIA cards since Pascal days. AMD on the other hand, yeah its easy.

    • @zsookah3
      @zsookah3 3 года назад

      @@overclockersclub You can undervolt basically any gpu, but 3000 series cards see a much greater benefit than others. You could use most any brand software but msi afterburner is best imo. Rather, in an over simplified way, you pick a voltage you want (so I chose 925mV) and basically pick a frequency (1920Mhz) and have your curve basically plateau at this point (straight flat line from 0.925V to max voltage). This will force gpu to run at 0.925V instead of the 1.1V let’s say. People, including me, have been able to get same performance w ~100W less power and better thermals

      It depends on a lot of factors like the power supply wattage , cooling, drivers etc. I recommend that you use 3DMark stress tests to test the stability of the overclock at your daily use resolution as it is the best indicator of the stability of your overclock. If you used msi afterburner OC scanner to get that overclock I recommend changing it as the latest version is currently bugged you might wanna use an older stable version until the app gets updated which might never happen.

    One thing i don't think you mentioned was the fan curve. I currently own an 2070 rtx and using precision for example i can only go so high using the default curve. however default curve doesn't even seem to go above 60% fan speed so i use the preset for aggressive and then i'm able to run it more stable at like another 30mhz higher. Fan speed can make a huge difference. It may be beneficial to just manually set it to 100% for testing how far your card can go stable with 100% to see what it's capable of then back off as you feel you need and willing to compensate lower OC for lower noise etc.

    • @overclockersclub
      @overclockersclub  4 года назад +1

      True a 100% fan speed is helpful for some cards. Ones like the Founders Editions and Gaming X Trio stick to mid-70s without adjustment. Bring it to 100% and it drops to mid 60s. I didn't see a difference in clock speed like previous generations.

      Flashing the RTX 3080 is risky right now. Not much information. I've read posts of people flashing the Strix BIOS to the TUF....Doesn't mean its stable or actually works. I don't have the cards to try it myself.
      Flashing the BIOS is mainly for increasing the Power Target Limit. Or if your lazy and don't like to manual overclock, flashing it to the OC model will just give you a higher base clock speed.
      Some companies do pre-bin the OC models, most do not and it is just luck of the draw that the OC model will "preform" better by overclocking higher.

    17:49 also, it doesn't force increments of 15, it lets you set it at even 50, 100, 150...it didn't change when you typed in 50 or 55 either. and you said your memory limit was 400, and you raised it by factors of 100, neither of which are divisible by 15.

    • @The11devans
      @The11devans 12 дней назад

      You can set a core offset of whatever you want in software, but the clock speed only adjusts in 15 MHz increments. So setting +50 would raise the frequency by +45.
      The memory does not have this limitation and it will use whatever offset you input.

    • @christianmino3753
      @christianmino3753 5 месяцев назад

      fyi little tip, since you seem to have a similar display as me. 4096x2160 isn't a native 16:9 aspect ratio, it's actually 17:9, which is a fantastic thing, because with that in mind, next time you are gaming on the display, try playing your game in 21:9, the letter boxing is minimal due to the native aspect ratio being 17:9 instead of 16:9, you would not think it would make such a difference, but it does, and if you are playing your games in 16:9, you should have pillar boxing on the sides of your image anyway, so doing it this way, instead of pillar boxing and a 16:9 aspect ratio, you get barely noticeable letter boxing, and you get a great experience. It's worth trying, especially if you are into AAA games, and if you sit a little too close to your display (for example, my 42-inch TV is 4 ft from my desk chair when you're supposed to only be 6 feet away. When I lay down in bed, and I'm a little further away, I play in 17:9 which most games will either not display in, or oddly, will only display in 17:9 when you select "auto aspect ratio", or the game will claim it is in 16:9, but it will really display in 17:9 OR the image will be ever so slightly stretched to fit the 17:9 display. I'm not sure if that sometimes happens, due to how minimally it would be stretching from 16-17) it feels more natural to play in 21:9 for me personally. It's like having a 40-inch ultrawide 4k and IDK why this isn't ever really spoken about

    Thanks for the video - well explained!
    However I've got a couple of questions:
    1) Why wouldn't someone just run that automatic core clock graph analyser thing instead of having a fixed number across all voltages? Did the automatic scan give you a higher number than 30? (or does the auto scan always give you a lower, safer value?)
    2) Is there any reason to generally NOT set core voltage and power limits as high as they can go?
    3) I've ordered a Strix OC 3090 - which comes pre overclocked - does that mean they have already set good values for all the above OOTB, or can it go even higher (ignoring LN2 etc)?

    • @overclockersclub
      @overclockersclub  4 года назад

      Lets see:
      1) I think the Auto Scanner is better. Or it was for the Turing cards, but in the current beta it is given me errors when scanning a RTX 3080.
      2) Temperatures? More Power = More heat generated. In some circumstances like a small case or lack of airflow, you actually might see a performance drop over stock from increasing the power limit due to extra heat generated being trapped in the case and lowering the boost clock speed.
      3) That Strix is a really nice card. "Pre Overclocked" or OCed models just have a higher base boost clock speed over the Non-OC models. So if you don't change any of the values yourself, it will preform better than say a Founders or Non-OC card. But once you do the settings manually, the OC and Non-OC are the same. Some say they are "pre-binned" higher, but I don't 100% believe that for every partner card...
      The Voltage and Power Target are the same as the Non-OC Strix. At 100% (default) it is 390 Watts. The slider should up to 480 Watts or 123%.
      ASUS has been pretty good at keeping the top-tier silicon for the Strix models, so I would say you can go higher than most other cards. That is until you hit the Voltage or Power Limit. You can by-pass those if your physically modify the card. Not many are willing to do that.

I abused my fair share of CPUs over the years and by the time they degrade enough to not keep a decent overclock its 5+ years later. So in short, temps are not great for the CPU, but if your not heavy overclocking, it is fine.

      @@overclockersclub yeah ik that’s why I tried to push core the most, this generation the memory clock u can max it out and loose performance, I just included the +300mhz on mem cuz it gives me like half a frame, but the +225 on core seems good, tried to push it to +239 but at that point it becomes a hit or miss and usually crashes. Oddly enough this overclock pushed me into 3090 territory with my card beating out some 3090 results (which I’m guessing were ran with stock cuz I doubt 3080 overclocked could match 3090 overclocked lol) idk if I just got super lucky with my card but from the tests I’ve done in msi Kombustor I seem to have a decent lead over others with 3080s (5328 points on msi-1 @1440) with from what I’ve seen seen on that bench marks 3090s are getting 5200-5396 on the same test and resolution

    Thank you. This answerd a question I've had for a while. On why my benchmarks would run in 4k but would crash at 1080p. So when stress testing its better to do it at 1080p?

    • @overclockersclub
      @overclockersclub  4 года назад +1

      From my understanding of how NVIDIA Boost works, it is simply that at 1920x1080 the GPU isn't fully utilized in most games due to being CPU-Bound for the RTX 3080. Therefore the Boost will be higher than say when the GPU is fully stressed out. So in theory playing a game or using a benchmark that 100% stresses the GPU at 1080 should be the same as 4K. Though I found flaws to this explanation. Because 3DMark Timespy will crash, but Extreme will not. I only has a working theory, sorry I can't provide a solid answer.

Even at 0% (slider) the GPU voltage will peak upwards of 1.096v (which is the limit without special XOC BIOS). Some people report this slider giving them a boost in clock speed, but from my testing of a dozen cards or so, it does absolutely nothing that I have observed. It is a relic of pre RTX generation. I just set it to 100% out of habit.

Clearly trash and useless. TDR disable after, computer stop is CRASH BY CORE, program crash is CRASH BY MEMORY. this is all firestrike world 1st 2060 recorder say. final tip, use x1 boost lock can on off gpu max min clock. this increase gpu stability and decrease idle power consumption. set power save mode by nv control panel. x1 use only gpu boost function. overclock use msi afterburner. if you follow this step all, you can use world high 0.1% performance can use with stable gaming. this is extreme helpful tip no one say. if you useful, push like.
