"Just the facts ma'am". Thanks for not falling into the "must use crappy intros and filler to get longer views and exploit youtube's algorithms" Straight and to the point. 10/10. Would buy again.
Great video as always, please continue this series! One thing though, you can turn on the DIAFR switch (in the operator position, near the sight power switch) to shoot without a cue. It is basically a manual override switch. Also, there is a button to "reset" the radiation from the sight which you are supposed to do after every missile launch. I'm not sure if it is modelled yet but in the future when it is, not pushing it can cause issues with ATGM guidance AFAIK.
Not recommended. The launch signal for missile is only a 18 degree diameter on launch so missile can capture the beam position. The sight at 3.3x has 22 degree FOV, and it is not for guiding. The 10x has 8 degree FOV and in missile guidance phase the radio beam is 3°. The missiles at the launch are slightly inward so that they fly center of helicopter flight path. This is why you can't override missile launch as missile will not capture the beam when it quickly turns to 3° beam, and your sight is off from missile path. The override is meant for manual guidance, and to be able launch. The missile has at rear a flare that system needs to spot. And if there is glare or high contrast like sun reflection from water and like that, system might not know what is missile and steer missile to opposite side of interference. Why you need to go for manual mode and guide missile manually. We don't have these systems modeled yet. You can well understand the mechanism of Shtora system in T-80U and so on. Two big IR lamps glowing/pulsing that cause similar systems to unrecognize what is missile and start sending incorrect guidance that trash the missile.
great video i tend to use petro instead of having a human co pilot just cause there really inst much to do but its a great and short guide keep up the good work ;3
After watching some of your excellent vids, I finally got this module. I managed to barrel roll this beast, but havent managed a loop yet. I got it up to 182kts but then the retreating blade stall started kicking in.
Hey casmo, not sure if already done but since DCS is getting big with Helos now with a few more coming could you do a video on Western vs Eastern Helo tactics and doctrines? For example Mi's and KA's (Including Inda, China, Iran and few others) vs Apaches and other US/NATO attack Helos and how their role works in their respective environments. If possible would be great thanks!
You can try, but at that moment it is more of signal limitation and inaccuracy of it being 3° beam to aim with. You become far less accurate at distance, and slightest shake off sight will make missile make larger moves. And slower the missile is, less effective its turning capability is.
Interesting that the front Missile Guidance panel has a switch "Doors" and when it is set, the light next to it will illuminate "Doors Open". The B1 switch at rear is for warming and calibrating the gyroscopes. The B2 switch is to unlock / lock them. That is what should happen, you activate gyros with B2, you open the doors from front, and then you can look through. You can use sight without B2 and when doors are open, but you don't get stabilization.
Goodness, I love the looks of this Module! I am really enjoying all of your content so far on the Hind, but sadly I do not own this Module (YET!). Have they included the R-60/AA-8 Aphid missile, and is there an air to air gunnery solution for the 30MM cannon? Thanks for another great video, and keep more Hind content coming!👍
Many thanks for the video! How can I fire an AT6 or 9 directly at a point on the ground which I ask Petrovich to aim his observe system at? Basically ask him to lock X spot on the ground and then I want to fire a missile there when I want, no matter the range or if is there any target. Can't seem to do that unless it's a real enemy target. Many thanks!
Any idea why Petrovich consistently "Cannot check there" despite I am flying strait towards the target have the Petrovich "marker" over the target and just want him to lock it... Sight is ready, we have LOS, everything is armed etc. he just doesn't do his job. In Wag's video it worked pretty perfect, even if he commands to lock stuff outside the "HUD" and moves in position later. 🤷🏻♂️
Don't look at the water direction near the FOV. Petrovich will decide it can't find anything in the water. It is annoying when water is like 5 degree upward from targets.
Has anyone had the issue of the operator not being able to fire during two player ops? I could only get the atgms to fire if the pilot-commander presses the fire button.
He might've been referring to the system that tracks the missile - which I think is a camera in the sight. But yeah, what I think you look through is more of a submarine periscope/upside down tank gunners sight.
500-600 mm steel armor penetration is common for cold war high caliber ATGMs / HEAT warheads (look up western ones for comparison). That's the main reason why thick steel armor for tanks was thought of becoming obsolete in the early 60s and sprung the development of composite armor and explosive reactive armor.

Subscribed because of your cooperation video with Wolfpack 345. Great video! Packed with knowledge and tips and no bullshit.
One of those rare channels where after seeing a few videos, one can push the like button on any video before watching it :)

@1:45 I would also suggest binding the "Radiation Reset" to a HOTAS button/key.
Awesome, straight to the point. Can't wait to see some missions featuring the hind
Thanks for the video!
For as much as I love flying the Hind, ATGM employment can be very frustrating.
Thank you for your service
Loving your videos. thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience.
Jesus... preparations to launch this thing look more complicated than explaining my wife why I can't use pause in multiplayer game... :D
Just pres control + w and Pete will do it for u lol

Probably will tackle that once the Apache hits the street.
@@CasmoTV your channel has a busy year ahead of it.
Came here from Wolfpack and liking the vids
raising the sight to get launch authority... great idea! wonder if we can boost the range of AT-6 by making it fly an arc

I never had any luck with that front switch. My limited understanding was it had something to do with filters.
Excellent tutorials!! Thanks for doing them. Will try to join discord now :)

love it thank you
a fellow Noah.... this is akward, ill shall call you Noah the 2nd
hey quick question, would you be able to do a vid going over the cockpit? what all the various gauges are for and things like that
That’s usually not my Schtick as it takes a lot
Of time and prep work but maybe.

Haven’t had that. The operator has to use “Fire Shturm” command
I wonder what the mechanical reason was for the shoot queue only going off when pointing forward with no way to override that.
There is a way to override SHOOT CUE.
Flip up DIAFR. OPEN switch 😉
