Rotate Google Map on PC

I'm using Google Maps under Windows 10. I had hardware acceleration enabled, but to get the compass I had to do this : select satellite view (bottom left window); then click the globe symbol (bottom right, above the scale buttons). Et Voila ! the compass appears !

NOTE: Compass is usable in Globe view. However, switching back to satellite view will reset the orientation. Not good if your trying to line up a detailed image for reference work.

I did this but the compass still doesn't show.
What I had to do was click on "Layers' on the bottom left corner of maps, then click 'More' and then check the box 'Globe view'. The compass should show up now.

Have tried it on my Windows PC and MacBook Pro and both had hardware acceleration on anyway. Tried switching off and on but no luck. Also tried looking using Safari. It would seem the feature has been removed.

Maybe try this:
1. Choose satellite
2. Other cards are also available, click "More"
3. At the bottom there is now a box called globe view. You have to activate this.
