I think his directions are somehow different that all good writers such as Bee gul, Aamna mufti and Faiza iftikhar have comfort zone for his directions and also actors like Iqra, Yumna, Imran etc love to work with him even when they know that there is no surety for good number of views but the guarantee that whoever watches the serial will fall in love with it. It was so nice to meet Kashif nisar the person. What a humble, generous, and thoughtful person. Giving credit and recognition to his team like a true leader. I recently saw Inkaar and then started watching DNUTN. Seeing the use of actual locations rather than the inside of select karachi mansions was a much needed relief. And it is such a treat to see incredible actors of PTV's yesteryears in these dramas. Every actor brings a unique flavor to the character they are playing. Their strength being their acting not how perfect they appear on camera. I am getting tired of seeing the same perfect faces on tv who speak and act the same, and who rely on filters to hide any facial flaws. It is nice to hear accents in kashif nisar dramas because in pakistan there are many accents which are now missing from tv. Thank you for retaining the diversity and beauty of our culture in your dramas. Your generosity to your team and crew reflects in their performance and dedication to your projects.

He has a deep understanding of the industry he’s part of. His points about “show don’t tell” and “digest heroes” is spot on. His analysis on how the private channels were heavily influenced from Star Plus circa 2002 and how they royally ruined our industry and worse the audience is so astute. For once Hassan’s questions fell short of the interviewee’s stature( thru no fault of his own). What a brilliant mind! What a kind soul!

I found your short but succinct analysis very edifying. Kashif's disappointment with the proliferation of digest writers who totally lacked the visual dimension and treated the scripts as radio dialogue was an astute understanding of tv dramas. Hassanbhai is my personal favourite interviewer but I totally agree with you that that with Kashif he was out of his depth. I have so much to say or write:) I took my own sweet time to see this interview because I knew there will be a lot to take away from it. Thank you Hassan dil se. Kashif Nisar is a brand in itself. There is a school of thought which he depicts in each and every project. He has given a new meaning to story telling in a drama...his dramas truly deserves pure and impeccable artists to the core like Yumna, Sania Saeed, Nauman Ijaz, Imran Ashraf, Saba Qamar, faryal mehmood, Yasra etc.. I will not include Iqra’s name here because she can easily switch to over acting and being loud for no reason. I would love to see Saba Qamar, Sajal, Mahira, Fawad Khan and Ahad in his upcoming plays unfolding powerful characters and doing full justice to a story under his mindful direction. I am so ever grateful that he is what he is, a Precious asset to this industry! He nailed it when he mentioned that story telling is what makes a director stand out from the rest and his passion to honor those untold stories clearly exudes from his lenses. Kashif Nisar’s in-depth detailing to his characters is just top notch! Among other directors which comes to my mind, who carry an art of story telling in a different manner is Mehreen Jabbar and Sarmad K.

So he's trying his part to include them and use their skills.
What's wrong with that? This is a man who at least feels responsible for people of his area, which is more than what you can say for others. Why don't you ask this of the ones in Karachi? To go out and do shows in other places? Because they don't need to do everything there as much. Kashif clearly stated he works with people who CAN'T move anywhere else, they're only situated in Lahore, so he's stayed back to work with them, because they're all very talented people who are otherwise lost, and I think that's an amazing incentive.
But Karachi is suuper commercialised right? So why don't you expect THEM to go and make dramas elsewhere?
Oh and I should show respect to Karachi but you can't to what he's doing? Even tho the dramas set in Karachi are SOO much more than the ones in Punjab? So technically if anyone's shoving culture it's them more than anyone else? But you still feel threatened by Punjab's artists? Yeah right, like that makes so much sense!

I didn't know that he wrote Cousins. That show is such a happy memory of my childhood. I'm so happy we have directors like this who are focused on the story telling side of things. Trusting the intelligence of the audience is super important in order to deliver the kind of beauty that his dramas are. Loved his question "Aap ne kisi ko falsafa jhaarte hue dekha hai?" Writers and directors need to know what we are not looking for lectures from the oh-so-pious characters.
I also love that he calls Yumna "puttar" and Noman Ejaz "Nomi" 😂❤️

Mashallah what an interview Hassan. The interview was so interesting that I didn't want to miss even a single word. I didn't know that our directors think and work a lot while making a drama. He seems to be a very intellectual and creative person which we can see that reflection in his work.

Kashiv saheb Salaam. What a brilliant, sensitive man. It is really no wonder why his dramas stay with you long after they are over. The world needs more thinkers like you. I live across the border but totally identified with the sentiment that you made by staying away from the mainstream and yet carving a niche'. our countries would look different if this thought process is exercised. Great interview.
