Aquatic insects or ‘waterbugs’ are the unsung heroes of freshwater soundscapes. They are great indicators of the nutrients available in the local ecosystem, but until now, harnessing that information has been labour intensive.
Our researchers, along with a team of international experts, have been using innovative bioacoustics technology to study their voices.
