Have watched over 500 microgreen vids and this, in my opinion, is in the top 10 on eaze of instruction and detail. Great job. I have 4 companies and use my own system already or I would definitely buy your labeling system. Looks impressive. Keep the vids coming. Def sub'd.
Thanks for what you’re doing man! I’m really impressed with the pay it forward mindset that so many microgreen farmers like yourself are taking in making these videos and helping to inspire others. Truly amazing.
Have you considered using red composting worms to eat the clipped beds of roots & stems? They would turn these into black gold aka, worm castings which you would in turn use to grow more healthy greens in. Eventually you would have more worms than you could feed so then sell the worms as fishing bait. It's a win, win for you.
That's exactly what I did when I had the microfarm running,,I lost count how many compost worms I had. I found the castings and worm tea made my microgreens grow like nothing else. I am still doing it, but all scaled back into backyard now,,setting up a mini micro farm.
Thank you so much for breaking down the process in such a clear and helpful way! I was hoping you could share some information about the regulations on selling directly to restaurants (health code requirements, etc...)? I can't seem to find any information on that, and my local health department has been less than accessible. Thanks again! :)
Thank you very much for sharing this. I am recently disabled over the last 3 years. I have lost income from my previous career and am looking for a way to make a income again. I hope Micro greens can work for me. I don't need tons of money, just enough to make a living. I sure appreciate you sharing and walking through each step. Liked and subscribed.
Your welcome Joe - thanks for the kind words! You can certainly do microgreens and earn a couple hundred extra dollars per week. Make sure to subscribe to my newsletter for more details about how to start the business
this is amazing ! I did not realize you can grow this inside a very limited space like a small room. I'm incline to try this farmer in my small room. where can we buy the seed?
Is the papper towl you use just bought from the store or do you need to make sure that its not been bleached or dyed to make sure you stay organic ? thank you for your vids . I will be starting this as a buisness in February and this is part of my research
thanks very much. I really love the videos you made. hope business is still good for you. just about to get started in mg production after teaching for 15 years. need a change of pace. best of.
Not complaining, like your videos!! You might want to think about speaking louder because you are a soft spoken man and I've got my volume up all the way and I'm wearing headphones phones. Just a thought!
Well explained. Curious to know the difference between benefits of top watering as you have done vs bottom watering? Also do you refrigerate your Mixrogreens once they are bagged?
I've sold live as well, and have noticed people don't take that great of care of them when they buy live and it can cause them to have a bad experience, so it's something to monitor. How has your experience been so far?
Thank you for such a fantastic video. You provide info so clearly and i will definitely subscribe to your site. Me and my friend are thinking of going into this business here in the UK and i really appreciate the info you have provided. A+++++
helpful succinct videos we started with sunflowers and are experimenting with a bunch of other crops. I am selling as fast as i can produce. i haven't heard the word NO yet. your best tip is about keeping a diary. i find it difficult remembering which tray is ready for what. do you have advice on juggling start and harvest dates and how to actually organize the crop trays and keep track of it all ?
thanks for great content! Have you ever tried to store micro green in soil after full maturity?how long you can keep them like that and where? need more watering after? best Zivko
Nice video. First time i see this. I didn't know this exist. Excellent. But how is the price of that microgreen. I mean if i whant to buy 100 gr. Or a pound. Thks hope u can answer
Thank you! I've just begun researching microgreens as a possible business. Your videos and the information you give have been so helpful. Once question - does it matter what type of paper towel is used if you are trying to grow organically? (Is the bleach in white paper towels a concern?) Thank you again for the information and knowledge you are passing on!
+Emily Isenhart Hi! I'm not sure to be honest because I have not researched organic certification all that much. Definitely could be a possibility. Sorry I don't have the answer!
I watched few dozens of microgreen videos, but nobody explain what to do with the roots and tray and the earth after the harvesting. Please expkain or link me any video which explain this process. BIG THANKS!
Yes I did! And I sell the label templates to people if you are interested. Just opt-in at microgreensfarmer.com and you will see the offer on the next page
Hi Nate, nice labels! Could you tell me how you went about getting your labels? Did you find out it was cheaper to do them on your own or do you order them? Seeing you do a short video on packaging would be pretty neat. :)
first person I have seen actually use gloves , good job , hope you still washed beforehand :P you could use an empty tray to help flatten them out as well :P
Hi, I am an absolute beginner. When you say doing 2 cycles a week on the same shelf, does that mean you leave them in germination for 3.5 days and under lights only 3.5 days? In most other articles and videos I see 3-4 days of germination and 6-7 days under the lights. That wouldn't allow for 2 cycles on the same shelf per week. So I am confused. Thanks for clarifying anyone.
Fresh sheet (and many, many more resources) are given out in my online course on growing microgreens. Get on my email list if you want to hear about it: microgreensfarmer.com
Hi Nate, Great video. Thanks for sharing your hard won knowledge. Can you tell me, do you recycle the soil mix after you have harvested a crop of micro greens? Cheers Philip
+Philip Mole RUclips Thanks for watching! The used soil goes onto my compost pile, or directly on one of my outdoor garden beds that is between rotations. So yes, it gets reused, just not for microgreens. I like to keep the environment more sterile for them.
That makes sense. I'm in Florida, there are things in the soil you can't even see. Plus with the fans and lights and even a dehumidifier, bringing unknown crap into such a clean area is just stupid. So, ok, now I'm convinced.
I do them on special avery labels. I sell a Branding Package for $49 to people who join my email list at microgreensfarmer.com, it comes with templates where you can put in your farm logo and info and I tell you the exact labels to buy and how to print them etc. I have fancy wrap around labels and standard stick on labels. You will see the ability to buy that after you put in your email address for the free Quick Start Guide.
Thanks Joshua! The labels are homemade wrap-around labels that I produce in house. I sell the templates for these labels and my stick on labels as part of a Branding Package for $49. Tons of farmers are using them now. You have the option to purchase on the thank you page after you sign up for my email list at microgreensfarmer.com. All the best! Nate
Hey Nate in your video 8:25, How do you make your labels for your samples? and could you make a video on how to do it? ex: paper you use and layout for it the works! please!!! :)
+Archie Blalock Hey Archie, I'm going to be offering up all my labels, fresh sheet, and invoice templates to my email subscribers very soon. You can get on the list at www.microgreensfarmer.com
Great videos. tried to access your website but its not available? Starting out Farmer -Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania,East Africa. any and all tips would greatly be appreciated!
You should check your local government, as each specific geographic area has their own rules and regulations. Federal, State, County, and even City gubs may have rules, that is why no one can ever answer this question on the World Wide Web.
How do you deal with condensation problems whether packed in clamshells or bags? Are you using vented clamshells? I always have condensation in my containers. :S Thanks!
Cool your greens down before putting in clamshells. To do this, put them in a tote that has a few holes drilled in the side towards the top. Put the lid on and in the cooler for a few hours.
I really want to start business like yours. This video brought me into happy tears somehow. Thank you, this is inspiring.

Yeah, might get worms going again soon. Also, I think chickens will love the leftovers - we are adding them to our farm this year.
Excellent Idea, Thank you sir!

Do the micro greens need any fertiliser at all? Was under impression microgreens use nutrients from seed, but what do I know?
I know it's an early video and I like it of the best. Narration, music, simple and concise, vocal (VO) is calm and easing. Good stuff Nate...
You are such a great person for sharing all that information for free God bless your business
I like the focus you give in developing a business in microgreens and tips. Thank you for all the videos.
This would be one of the best videos i have seen on here. Thank you Nate. cheers

Thanks for stopping by!
Thats great. Can you reuse the tray, do the greens regrow, or after a cut you throw out all the remains?
Nice job, how often are you watering the trays?
Omg Nate! You’re in South central Indiana?? I’m in Newburgh, outside of Evansville!! I just signed up for your webinar for today!
Howdy neighbor!!

I grow soiless with coco coir fiber mat. They can be sold alive on the 8x6 pieces of mat.
I've sold live as well, and have noticed people don't take that great of care of them when they buy live and it can cause them to have a bad experience, so it's something to monitor. How has your experience been so far?
hey...so after you snip the micro greens what happens to the remaining plant? compost pile???
Please do tell I am also curious about this

Al Budrow Why don't you use masking tape to label them? It'll easily come off when you're ready to reuse the tray.
I have a question for you, how many soils you put in the tray for each seed. Sunflower, radish, pea. Thanks!
Your video is #1 compared to a TON i have seen. Its been 4 years since this video....How is business?
this is the best video thank you. just have a question can I use for microgreens seeds for professional growing(I mean seeds with letter F)

What do you do with the stems and soil after harvesting!
After you cut the sprouts, can you regrow it still and sell the microgreens?
Great Information!
Do you reuse the tray soil or do you start from scratch again?
How do you do your labels? Do you use shipping labels? I've tried on my computer but they don't always line up very well.
I do them on special avery labels. where is a good place to get the clam shells and things like that?
I get most of mine from webstaurantstore.com
Who do you sell too? What kind of places should I target. And did you have to do any licensing in order to sell?
Ok, great video. how profitable are micro greens? Do you have a cost break down. Thanks Rick
They are pretty darn profitable. I break down some profit numbers in my free Quick Start Guide --> microgreensfarmer.com
Loved it! Thank you very much!
Thank you for sharing....

what sort of insurance policy do you need to grow and sell food

I’m interested in adding microgreens into my business. Do I have to be FDA approved or carry a nutrition label?

I reuse it by composting and adding to outdoor garden
Super
what did you use to spry on the seeds
