I spent so much trying to get Lapras too. Tried a UFO catcher but was not making much progress after about 12 tries. Moved to a one of those claw machines where you got to fit it within two bars. That was a lot easier except that its fin got stuck around one of the bars and wouldn't budge. After several tries I finally asked for help. The assistant unhooked the fin for me and gave me some advice on how to finish it off, but after 3 tries failing following her advice I decided to just stab it and it finally dislodged...only to be left hanging on one of the bars by its ear. Got it the very next turn though :)
Have you tried for a Detective Pikachu plushie yet? I failed so hard at it over the weekend at various arcades as it kept on slipping out of the claws due to its relatively small size. Just won one on Toreba though so pretty stoked about that :)
It would be a super cute waste basket in a kid's bathroom or desk area.
