Feeling much better about having blown the fuse putting the battery in backwards after seeing you do the exact same thing! My solution involved a long wait for a replacement board from China though.
Such is life. I'm worried that the fuses I installed are too low spec and will blow up when I charge it. Then I'll have to tear this thing apart again and install more fuses.
Sorry for bumping an old video but I had a few questions about the DSi XL I hope you may answer. Do you know if the 6 screws on the back are all the same? On the white and metallic rose versions the two near the cartridge slot are silver and not black. But according to ifixit the black/silver ones are all the same length. Some videos I've watched told the viewer to distinguish between these screws and put them in the right place. Is it more because of color than damaging the thread? Would it be a problem if I mixed up the 4 screws under the rubber feet and the 2 exposed screws? Do you also know the purpose of the white tape on the two tiny ribbon cables? The two cables for the touch screen and digitizer seem to make contact with the LR ribbon cables so I assume they are for insulation. I have trouble sticking them down after opening my unit for a screen swap but it seems the tension between the ribbon cables squeezes the tape in place. Would not like for the tape to come loose and then short the ribbon cables. What is the best way to remove the rubber feet? I used an ifixit carbon fiber spudger but it cut the rubber foot in half. Seems like it was too big and prying the feet upward poked a hole through it. I tried the smallest flathead in the ifixit toolbox and it worked better. It did slightly scratch my shell and the paint came off however. Do you know the possible cause of screen flickering? Went to a local game shop and they had an open box DSi XL but told me it had issues with screen flickering despite the only use being testing cartridges and charging. Japanese DSi LLs on ebay also have issues with screen yellowing. What is the possible cause of Japanese ones having so much yellowing?
Hilarious. I have pretty high quality tools...except for my multimeter which is the exact same one you have. I just haven't been able to spend real money on one.
I'm wondering if you can help me. I have a DSi which powers on but backlights don't work (can see image if shine light on it). Tested with another board and works fine so it's something wrong with the motherboard. Any ideas?
Hi makho, I want to ask you a question not related to the video but yes with your knowledge, you who have repaired so many game boys, I have a question, specifically the sp ags 101 model, when you turn it off and turn on the console very quickly when starting it looks shows for a little moment the last frame of the console before turning off? , It is normal? has it happened to you? , thanks.
I have a dsi xl where i did a bottom screen replacement, it worked great however i put the battery against the mobo and now the dsi xl wont turn on. Did i burn a fuse if so where/how do i repair it?
makho power LED works. The sound works. The contrast wheel works but just black screen. I don’t know maybe the screen is broken. I see no scratches. It’s a childhood gameboy. I lost the battery cover a long time ago. I found it recently. Wanted to play Pokémon on it.
I love repairing delicate stuff like this. If I can't, then I just watch your videos to get my fix. Lol
12:22 holy shit, that's a very good method :o

Your videos are great they've taught me a lot

Amazing video as always 👍🏻❤️
Hope to see a cheap capture card alternative in future
Thank you.
I have done that so many times where i have blown a fuse.
Great video :)

If there's a console repair discord, I'd recommend that otherwise try the console repair subreddit. Bring pictures.

All LCD screens do that. You just usually don't notice because the backlight is usually off. Newer screens do refresh quicker, generally.
omg, I didn't know that, thanks for the information :O!

Well, I did show the process for diagnosing and repairing a fuse on a DSi XL in this video. What part are you stuck on?
My man i do have a question which idk if u can help me i have a Dsi but when i turn it on i get the error 0000fe00 can help me ?
If you haven't modded the console, I'd try a factory reset. If you have modded it, restore from the backup you made
May I ask what is in your squeeze bottle?
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
I guess i meant at 8.04 timestamp. Is it some sort of flux mixture in a liquid form.
@@dazamad Yeah, just liquid "no clean" flux. Specifically this stuff: www.amazon.com/dp/B01MYEE84K

pause the video and pull up google translate
Nintendo DSi LL
I was wondering if you can look at my original gameboy dmg. It has a black screen. I don’t know what to do.
Do you have a power LED or sound? Did you already check the contrast wheel?

@@Wisecholo3 Check your contrast wheel. Desolder might fix. If not, probably a bad cap or something.
makho ok thank you for the information. I will look at the contrast wheel.
