I enjoyed the relaxing walk around that neighborhood. Lots of very cool architecture. Have you ever considered doing a film location episode on Ferndale, Ca? That’s where they filmed The Majestic.
I made the effort to visit the Orange circle in 2019 after watching Adam and Justin hold their chats from the park. It truly is a relaxing and interesting place. I travelled from Australia to see it.
Back in the 70’s as a kid I used to live in one of the little Victorian homes down the street from the Big Momma house. My dad worked a short walk away at the Orange Public Library and I went to school at that big church with the broken clock (St John’s Lutheran) - a short walk too. It was like living in Mayberry.
"SAVE THE ORANGE FOUNTAIN! SAVE the Orange fountain! Resident Bob Hitchcock is sponsoring an initiative to SAVE THAT FOUNTAIN! We at the "Save The Fountain Committee" think it should be preserved EXACTLY the way it is as part of our history and heritage! Don't forget to take a flyer. SAVE THE ORANGE FOUNTAIN!"
I had a great friend who was born in Orange. In all the times I have been to LA, I hadn't visited Orange until 2017. My friend, Sgt. Justin Hoffman, was a Marine who unfortunately lost his life in Iraq on August 3rd, 2005. The last time I was in LA, I drove to Orange to walk around and take in the area in memory of Justin. I was very impressed with the town and will visit again sometime. Thanks for the stroll. This put a smile on my face. :)
@@MrPAULONEAL This is correct. I visit his grave a few times a year. I live about a half hour from the memorial park where he is buried. His funeral, held on August 13th, 2005, changed my life forever. I travel a military tribute around the country which his portrait is part of. The first tattoo I got was in his memory. I miss him greatly and anytime I see anything online that reminds me of him, I have to watch it.
I too was born and raised near 'The Circle' in 1964. I always knew it had historical significance but perhaps I took it for granted. I see a lot of these houses daily. I'm learning to appreciate it more. I recently moved back to town after being away for over 30 years. I wasn't certain if I would like being back because its changed so much. I realized quickly that I do miss being home. I'm learning to pay more attention to the little things in town. I'm very sorry for your loss.
My Great Grandmother lived in that area. My cousin and I would stroll up and down the circle, going through the shops. I was 13 - 27, she finally had to move at the age of 93. She lived on her own in an Old Style Apartment building, walking to the store, cooking, cleaning and taking care of herself until she fell and broke her hip. Thank you for the memories
Just discovered old town Orange, the fountain, etc. a couple years ago, visiting my mother in a nursing home there, visiting from WA state. I just loved the whole neighborhood, ate at Watsons, visited the art museum a few times, but could no longer visit because of COVID and she died in July. Some day I want to come back. This area seems so “California” to me, wish I could move here, I love the climate. This is the next best thing, thank you.
My brother had a house north of the Circle on Waverly if I remember correctly. This is definitely nostalgic for me. Nice! His parrot escaped and never came back.. it had quite a vocabulary. He thought someone found and kept it.. but maybe it joined other parrots back in the wild.
My wife's grandmother lived in the house on Palmyra at 12:16 (green house with the pink door). We also have a photo of her grandmother and her mother as a toddler in 1923, sitting on the original fountain at its original location in the Plaza.
I remember spending so many weekends with my grandma at Orange Circle. Lunch at Watson's, her getting her hair did at the beauty salon while I got my nails done and then helping her work at one of the thrift stores off the circle. Thanks for this walk down memory lane.
Grew up in Orange. Love Orange Circle ⛲. Watson's just feels different after they took out the pharmacy/ drug store for the expansion. The original Orange Circle fountain you show is from Paris (if my history teacher was correct 😂)
Are you still local ? I visit my aunt and uncle every January they live in Anaheim hills, my aunt and I always visit the city of orange! It reminds us both of two towns in Ohio where I live and she’s from. ♥️ oh and I’m amazed every January the circle fountain has loads and loads of oranges on the trees! I even have photos of them🙋♀️
adam this is my hometown!! so happy to see your tour of the city of orange! you've been my tour guide on youtube for many years!!! thanks for loving orange!
Big mama's house I thought that looked familiar. I loved that show the old cranky mama. The Ainsworth house is so beautiful 😍 I love historic renovated places. Even when they're spooky and run down. Any old plantation, craftsmen, Victorian, style
thank the lord we have Adam the documentarian going around revealing history and nuance to places we take for granted, too few other people would do the same!
Good to relax when this terrible year is over that's what I'm going to do don't blame you Adam if everyone thinks we should all relax after a bad year give me a thumbs up🏰☕🍔🍟
Nice seeing that part of the country. I leave in Kingsport Tenn been up and down the east coast love our mountains. It looks pretty there. Thank you for the video!!
Adam, how cool that U live so close to places that honor 2 of Ur heroes. Of course Disneyland & right there in Orange the Huell Howser Collection at Chapman University. Maybe someday Chapman will be adding a Woo museum. Shall They???
I used to live on Lemon street just a few blocks away. As a kid, I would walk down to Satellite market to buy candy. My first bike was from the Schwinn bike shop across from the market. I got my first Converse shoes at Army Navy. Bought my PE clothes at the Orange Sporting Goods store at the Circle. Got a skateboard from the skateboard store there too. Good times. I also remember going to all of the antique shops. It was like going back in time.
I enjoyed this video thoroughly. I am hoping that you will understand that there are a lot of older people that watches your Channel. With that in mind, we don't like to go to Disneyland everyday. But your walks around town Rock! Hope you do more of these. I used to live in Orange and the Anaheim area in the late 90s. So I was intrigued by your videos. Originally from Palmdale California. Now living in Northern California. Thanks for your videos my friend
They should've just left it, The way it was! I can't believe they, Totally, destroyed a Vintage-Store, Like that! :(::: Especially, After filming, A clip of," That Thing You Do!", There. :(:::
A relaxing video indeed! I love historic towns, buildings and houses. I enjoyed seeing those bungalow style houses in the first neighborhood you went to on the corner of Center and Maple. I happened to look up a couple of them on Zillow to see what the estimated asking price would be if they were on the market and wow - expensive! The cute little pale yellow house right on the corner would potentially go for a little over $800,000! It's only a 4 bed /2 bath and a little over 1500 square feet.
Well this was nice. The last time I was at the circle was the '84 International Food Festival. I think that army-navy store is where I bought a pea coat. Ah the memories.
I agree. I love the way you change up on things. Really I enjoy each and every video. Look forward to them. I loved the McDonalds disney one alot too.👍
The Orange circle, homes and church were also used in the Bill Paxton directed film, Frailty. I just watched it again on Amazon Prime last night. Good flick!
I lived in Altadena for a while, just north of Pasadena. Lots of historic homes and used in many TV shows, commercials and movies. You're right, Adam. Orange is very similar...
Looks like a lovely area to call home. Always nice to see a community making an effort to preserve their history and architecture. Fascinating that the Ainsworth house was designed by their daughter. It definitely invokes the architectural charms of the period.
That was so relaxing to watch, Adam. I smiled when you said your Hitchcock line. I love the old Victorian homes. You should come to Wallace, Idaho if you like old homes. The whole city is on the National Historic Registry. They have trolley rides that will give you tours. I even like the classic cars you showed as well. Love old cars. Again, enjoyed the video. Keep them coming.
@@TheDailyWoo It is, in fact the whole Silver Valley is. Packed with history. Wallace was once a filming location for "Dante's Peak". Come over and I'll show you around. Oh, Happy Thanksgiving!
