For some reason, based on the name of the book and the cover, I would never think of buying it. This video made all the difference. Will read it then might even add it to my list of books that I gift out regularly.
Thanks for sharing, guys! Communication is indeed the key to great leadership. In a lot of studios, the most skilled designer is promoted to a manager level, even though the skill set for management/leadership is completely different from the skills necessary to be a technically proficient designer. I'm glad this was called out!
This is by far THE BEST business and operations guide out there! We will create a MO for our organization based on these concepts! Super dooper smart and efficient!
Wow. I'm right at that 2-year mark in the business with the same problems he mentioned. Crazy. Great content, I'm hoping to learn and recover this Q4. Thanks!
I'm in the process of starting a new business venture and this whole channel but in particular, THIS VIDEO is such a great guide for wrapping my head around everything I am not well versed at.

Feeling good! As you are discussing each topic, I am checking them off in my head, as I am currently doing each of them! A confidence boost that I really needed, today.
Yeah, um, if he could just wrap this up and put it in a course, that would be great. Maybe expand on it a bit more. He needs to promote this video and retarget anyone who watched >50% of this video and target them with an ad for his book.
It’s very interesting your point of view about the hierarchy of the eight core concepts. But I would like to understand more why Marketing is in the 8 position. As you said, this area need to know a lot about the others areas and at the same time it’s the only one that you can’t find in the other concepts. Other thing that is resonating with my is when you said “when you don’t make a profit you don’t have a business” but I could said “if you don’t have a client you don’t have a business” so is kind of the chicken or the egg, what’s first? Once I heard that the only reason that your business is running today is because you have a client who is buying your product and marketing is the main area who focus on them. Clearly I’m not the expert here but would be interesting to have feedback about this point of view. Cheers!
I just revisit this video because now I have a question: From all of 8 things there, where is branding? Is branding not important so he didn't mention it, or maybe I missed it?
This was super great! Do you think this applies the same to platform business models (non linear value chain) as it does to the traditional pipeline model (linear value chain)?
People, your FIRST FOCUS in any business venture is...let me hear you say it, SALES. Without which you'll have no cash-flow, and no cash-flow, well, you already know the flipping answer or starting a business should not be something you should consider. Also read 'Ready Fire Aim' by Michael Masterson, he'll HELP YOU See The Light XD
I'm not sure I'll agree with this but that's possibly my CS background talking. But as Josh Kaufman said in his book ("The 5 parts to every business: My Personal MBA"), there are 5 parts which should all be looked at. I wouldn't go to the extent of saying one is more important than the 4 others but all 5 are important. If you can sell but have nothing to sell then you've got a problem, if you've got a product but can't promote it then you've also got a problem even if you're the best salesman out there.
I have so many ideas I get anxiety attacks.....but I don’t know the first thing about finance or how to stop others stealing my ideas when I am seeking tech or engineering help.
Ideas are nearly worthless without execution. Focus on acquiring the necessary skills yourself or on building relationships with the right people. Simply having an idea and hoping to get funding and a team behind it doesn't have great odds for success. Best of luck bringing your idea into reality!
As a CPA and Finance professional, it blows my mind that so many business leaders don’t get this. Amazing, thanks for sharing.
Hands down. One of the best summary I’ve seen.
I like how he breaks this down.
