Brings back memories as my mom always made sauces, stews, roasts and chili in this pot from the 1950's to the 1990's. I owned it until 2017. Just hearing the lid put on makes me smile.
I received a Wagner Ware oval roasting pan as a wedding gift from my mom in 1960. I still use it to this day! It’s great for baking a roast, making a big batch of spaghetti sauce or cooking a big batch of fudge. I think mine cost about $45 new back then.
Mine was handed down from my Grandmother it's nice seeing what a complete one looks like I'm missing the top and insert thanks for sharing
My wife still has her moms Wagner although it is oval shaped. I have never tasted a better meatball that comes out of that pot and I'm going to be seventy years old.
Wagner made cast iron as well.
I believe the piece with the holes and the four little feet that you called an insert is a trivet
I had a roaster just like it and a rotten boyfriend stole it. Ive missed it ever since. Great for Sunday roast.
Yard sales , thrift stores Ibgot mine for $5 , keep an eye. Good luck
He saved your life … kudos to the Ex….
@@joniangelsrreal6262 Glad to know that. I was emotionally attached though because it was a gift from the parents!
I think that's a form of water bath canner. Based on the ring on the bottom. OR at least it certainly could be USED as a water bath canner. I thought dutch ovens had flat lids?
Your right, thanks for your knowledge
I don’t believe it was ever intended to be a canning pot. Canning pots had a wired insert that would hold the canning jars and be used to pull the jars out of the pot.
Cooking with aluminum is bad for humans unfortunately.
If you do a bit of research you'll find out that aluminum cookware is safe for humans. The aluminum cookware scare was the result of bad science much like the MSG scare which was the result of a conjecture of a medical doctor without any investigation or research. Both are example of urban legends gone wrong.
Yeah that's why it's $5.
False
@@MavSavMorgan The CDC agrees with you.
The CDC was wrong with just about every fact about the China flu. Hmmmm.
