  • The ruins of Pompeii are incredible, but without a visit to the National Archaeological Museum in Naples, they feel incomplete. Most of the artifacts, mosaics, and frescoes from Pompeii are on display there, creating a more complete view of the famous lost city. The mosaics are rightfully famous, but the terrific condition of the frescoes blew me away.

wonderful video! I love the difference between home made videos and the documentaries you see on tv. Your video gives people at home a feeling of what it's like to really be there. Thank you!

Have been there years ago, found it very impressive to walk around and seeing the city, also how plants have grown out of their destruction.

An outstanding job! Well done and thank you for the written narration as well. This is amazing. It is sad so many souls lost their lives and homes. Without the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius, this would not have been preserved and excavated. I am certain we would never had an opportunity to know the art, culture and architecture of this ancient civilization. Thank you for bringing it to us!

I dunno if it "stuck", not sure how that works, but yes it coated them and then hardened I guess. So when their bodies decomposed, a hollow cavity was left in the rock/ash. Pouring plaster into it was like pouring plaster into a mould, and allowed us to see these people and animals in their final moments.

@therox68 Thank you! However, do you think the videos run a little jerky in 1080p? I'm thinking of going back to 720p. Should I?

  • @Scrovegni1305

@therox68 When they were just in 720p, they weren't jerky. Should I go back to 720p? I can't decide.

@lanewtopia - I didn't go to Herculaneum so unless they transported part of it to the Pompeii site, then it really can't be Herculaneum. :-)

Public toilets for the public but Rich people have their own

Toilets were in their kitchens apparently. 😝

In the home the toilet was in the kitchens, in addition to the large public toilets. They had no concept of bacteria and germs in general. Though they enjoyed bathing in the public bath houses, they weren't doing it for sanitary reasons, but social and business opportunities.

The architects of this contemporaneous, Western society have not the remotest idea of what beauty meant in the ancient world. On the other hand, not exenerating the modern constructors, they cannot draw any inspiration, placidness, allure or charm from the ugliness, grotesqueness and plainness from any present, barbaric tribe. The Greco-Roman, not only architecture but all the arts in general, permeat and exude an unequalled sense of grace, enchantment, mystery. Just contemplating it I lose myself in a world of reverie and fantasy.

This type of punishment mentioned in Quran. Qur'an says that Burning materials fuel of hell are Men and Rocks. Men get lesson from this ruins. This punishment will come towards me and you Insha Allah.

Your explaination is insensible and negates the Quran as a Book of Peace. If your explaination is true then explain why the Tsunami in Indonesia in 2004.
Want you insinuate Allah punished hundreds thousands islam people who were pious and religious, for some minor sins? 🤦
