No worries on the jumbo jet; modern planes are designed to dissipate them in such a way it passes over the outer airframe harmlessly. Statistically speaking, most planes in the sky are hit at least once or twice a year.

Keep in mind that lightning strikes wherever it wants to. Here in Sweden a bunch of guys decided to play their round of golf in spite of the weather warning for thunderstorms in our area. We had clear skies over the golf course but just 5 miles to the east of us was a nasty thunderstorm cell. Can’t remember exactly which hole they were playing but they had been hearing continuously thunders.
And even though they still had clear skies one of the guys was standing near a tree and that’s where this strike happened. He died but the 3 other guy got only blown off their feet and couldn’t feel anything in their legs for an hour - all of this still happening under beautiful clear blue skies. I also remember something like this happened to golfers in the US. Same situation with clear blue skies but a large thunderstorm 6-7 miles away.
For the Swedish guys their strike started at the base of the cloud while it was +4 miles away.
Keep that in mind when you’re watching @12:50 - clear blue skies but nearby there must have been a lightning bolt starting from a thunderstorm that can’t be seen in this security camera at someone’s home.
Swimming in a penthouse pool during a thunderstorm is applying for the Darwin award.
Being anywhere near water during a thunderstorm is applying for that award
There was once a wet football pitch that was stuck mid game causing all players to collapse.

It’s bizarre what lightning strikes do to cotton crops. Destroys the plants about 2 inches off the ground, in a perfect circle about 15 foot wide. In the centre is a hole you can stick your whole arm down into.

Best clip for me and a real headscratcher is at 16.45 when lightning strikes the doppler radar tower what headscratched me is that it causes interference to the video camera around the radar sphere almost as if the radar emissions themselves become ionized for a split second or carry the emi radiation outward from the sphere i cant find no information on this sort of interaction anywhere on the internet maybe a smarter person than me can shed sone light on whats happening here
