Next time set the deck height of one mower at 4 inches and use the 2nd mower as a finish mower with a deck height set at 3.5 inches. Have the finish mower half a lap behind the rough mower so you;re not eating dust. That will save your spindles. Include the cost of all new blades for both mowers in the mowing price. If you mow this property once a year, save your old blades for this job and then toss them in the trash and again, use the new blades this job finances every year for other jobs that need a better quality cut like residential, around $250 in new blade cost. Don;t forget to lube the spindles before and after because I know from experience tall pasture grass is rough on side load bearings for the spindles.
@@coryc42 It cost around $100 per acre to hire mowing a pasture. Do the research and see how much your exact mower model new spindles and blades cost and compare that to hire the work out. I've seen some mower models with 3 blades that have replacement spindles for as low as $50. New blades would be at least another $50. So basically one acre for that particular mower model would break even at $100 (plus fuel). Pasture grass is a lot tougher on mower deck spindle bearings than tall residential grass of the same height. Worst case, mow at the highest deck setting. My finish zero turn mower deck highest setting is 4.5 inch. From a distance you could never tell the difference between 4.5 inch and 3 inch tall grass. But, mowing at 3 inch compared to mowing at 4.5 inch is a massive difference on wear and tear for a mower deck.
I’ve got the big block Bad Boy and Ferris with a CAT diesel for my farm, and the diesel will cut deep grass, minor brush and saplings with no problem. The lower end torque of the diesel handles that better than the Kawasaki. The Bad Boy handles slopes and hills with less demanding material really well whereas the CAT diesel is too heavy and can slide sideways on hills. They both have their place.
@@Gokywildcats11 it depends on the job. I don’t usually ever work for hourly rates. I usually do a predetermined price before we start the job. It usually works out really good that way most of the time if I break it down by hourly rates, it would be between 100 to 150 an hour
❤done a good job, keep up the great work, I have 35 years of experience in the yard mowing and I really did enjoy doing it, specially with working for very nice people not with people that had a bad attitude that u should be doing the job for free like some of my kind folks on my daddy side of the family if u know what I mean by that ha,ha, ha I charge them double for the trouble ha,ha, ha....

I agree but unfortunately we were right next to a navy base so it was restricted air space. But we are soon going to mow an even more overgrown field where we can use the drone so stay tuned and thanks for watching
@@Mayfieldlawncarethat's what I was thinking! I have a hustler hyper drive with 72" rear discharge for this kinda of stuff, I layed out 8 acres fields in an hour!

Nice job we do 20 heactacre sola farm with our zero turns hustler hyper drive and cub cadet pro z 972 as both 72 inch decks lots of fun NZ
Was going to say, might be a good idea to blow it off every so often if you're doing this, and keep a fire extinguisher handy.
Great job guys 😊
Buy some Kevil blades from the guy in Australia, they are made specifically for this type of cutting
How long dit it take.? Very satisfying, pushing machines to their limit
About five hours
Cost for 5 hours??@@Mayfieldlawncare

That’s on average that wasn’t the case on this particular job. It was a little less than that.
Cool video good job 👍🏼
Look like two great machines, though that Bad Boy needs a better exhaust to make its Kawasaki sing more like a motorbike and less like a mower :D

You should use a drone for sky view of what your doing
And cheap to buy
Drone would’ve made a much better video 😊😊😊😊

Huge Field = you need a grasshopper mower midmount model with 4rxd deck when you can also cut the grass tall 3 feet
Grasshopper is a fine machine and rear discharge would’ve been better in this situation for sure
@@Mayfieldlawncare almost two quarters of throttle is enough to cut that tall grass. and also cuts the brambles

Looks like you ran over a lot of it.
For mowing huge open areas the zero turn is a waste of money.
Try telling that to my wife_ its only an inch less lmao
KOLIK TO JE METRU ČTVEREČNYCH
About 6 to 7 acres
you there goes better with two them of Grasshopper lawn tractor with 4rxd deck
Nice mower cuts good
Bust tamanbuga orangsenang lihat
Time for a Ventrac with a tough cut.
Great job guys ❤❤
