      I graduated from there in 15 years ago. The atmosphere has changed. There were a lot of Asians back then and lot less latinos. Asians are still the majority, but man there are a lot of hispanics.

    I was a little nervous when deciding what I wanted to study. I decided doing a grade on Business Administration.
    I live in Dominican Republic. I was really nervous because I just knew what internet told me about the career,but you know,I didn't know depply what Business Administration was about.
    I am on my first semester and i am taking:
    Spanish
    Accountability I
    Administration I
    Ecology
    Orientation
    Marketing
    Pre-Math
    Wish me luck 💖

    Hi Niki! Thank you so much for this video! I know I’m a couple years late and not sure if you’re still reading the comments but I have a couple of questions.
    So I am currently a freshman at a community college hoping to transfer to UCI as a junior. My major right now is business because my dream is to open a dance studio one day. When I heard that UCI has a good business program I didn’t realize it had a whole other location specifically for business. Basically my question is do you have to attend the Paul Merage in order to be a business major at UCI? Or can you still be a business major at the main campus? I don’t think I would enjoy or qualify for the prestigious environment of the Paul Merage cause I’m not very passionate about learning the ins and outs of business; I guess I mainly just want to get my undergraduate in business with a minor in something else and don’t need the honors that come with the Paul Merage. If possible I would like to take non business related classes as well instead of everything being about business. Sorry if that doesn’t make any sense and it’s very possible I have a wrong view of what it means to be a business major and obtain an undergrad in business. This is my first time even hearing about the separate business school so I might have it all wrong. I would appreciate any answers I can get! Thanks!

    Any tips/ recommendations for building your profile in order to find jobs in the future. Any internships you applied for and/or programs/ tools you used to get your name out there. I’m emphasizing in accounting right now but I’m an upcoming freshmen so things can happen. I want to be able to get a good job after UCI

    Thank you so much for the info! Do you know anything about the Business Information Management major? Like how it differs from just emphasizing in Information Systems? What the people and professors are like in that major? I'm caught between the two majors right now!

      @nikidetrich  7 лет назад

      Hi Trang! I'm not super familiar with BIM but I do have a lot of the same classes with people who are BIM majors so I think the majors are fairly similar. As far as I know though, Business Admin is more management focused while BIM is more technical... definitely speak to a counselor about it if you're on the fence! :)

    Hello, I applied to UCI as undecided and I would like to know what steps I need to take to change my major to Business Administration? How complicated is it? Thank you so much for doing this video!

    • @nikidetrich
      @nikidetrich  7 лет назад +1

      Hi! I know that transferring into Business Admin is a pretty tough thing to do (versus being accepted into it directly) but it's not impossible! You just have to meet the prerequisites and have a high GPA. Check with the career center :)

    • @ironmaidenrulezz

      For UCI to transfer in you need at least you need at least a 3.0 but they say you would need a 3.7 last time I heard.

    Hi. I'm also a student at UCI and thinking of switching majors. I just want to know, what are the management courses like? I did well in G.E math courses and I believe that I'm good with numbers. I enjoyed doing math. Do management courses deal with numbers often? I'm also into technology so I'm not sure if Business Admin or BIM is better for me. Thanks!

    It’s funny how you’re paying a lot to go to school speak to professors network learn and just advance to increase your chances at a really good job after school to pay off your debt as quickly as possible and then she’s happy about getting a day off you can get a day off when you retire rn is about working well business majors see it like that I’m at berkley and it’s no joke idk why you would want a day off when you already pay so much to just be there annoying

    I just came across your video when I searched “business major” and I had a few questions I was hoping you could answer! I’m a kinesiology major, initially I wanted to do physics therapy then I thought about occupational therapy but now I’m thinking about going into the business field instead. I don’t work out so I’m not sure kinesiology is right for me, i never knew how much exercise it involved. I’d rather work with people and managing things or having responsibilities to take care of in an office. Do you think it’s possible to get a job in the business field and work my way up without being a business major? Is it possible to get an MBA without a bachelors in business (I’ve heard you can)? I can’t switch majors since I only have one semester left haha

    • @nikidetrich
      @nikidetrich  6 лет назад

      Hi Cindy! It's defintiely possible to get into business still!!! The field is super general, and I've heard that a ton of MBA programs actuall prefer for people to come in without business as their undergrad major. Try to take an entry level business course during your last semester if you can just to see if you like it, but definitely still apply to the business field :) You just need your foot in the door!

      Niki D That’s awesome news, there’s hope for me after all haha I’m already taking 15 units and need to complete 90 hours of interning this spring semester but I’ll take some business courses at a community college while working to get the prereqs done for an MBA. Thanks for replying, you have a lovely channel :)

    I was wondering if besides taking the businees classes under your major, what are your general studies classes like?

    • @nikidetrich
      @nikidetrich  7 лет назад +1

      Hi Christopher! I took Humanities Core my freshman year which got rid of a lot of GE classes. It was a lot of work but I didn't find it too difficult. Other than that, GE classes are generally pretty large lectures and aren't super difficult, just try to find a subject you're interested in and with a good professor! I was a big fan of ESS with Ferguson. Hope that helps :)

    Hi! Thank you for making this video! You mentioned that you guys are required to do a lot of presentations and group work..does this depend on your concentration? Can you give me examples of what you guys did in group work and what you presented to the class? I know these questions are a bit weird, but I am an incoming transfer student majoring in business and I would like to know more :) Thanks.

    • @nikidetrich
      @nikidetrich  7 лет назад

      It's different for each class but usually its something along the lines of analyzing a company or person in relation to the topic of the class (e.g. marketing strategy, consumer trends, leadership, teams, etc). Group work is either a big paper or presentation! Hope that helps! I wouldn't worry too much about it, you'll get used to it really quickly!
