Prospecting for Gold in Michigan

Went prospecting at the creek with my son, Halo and our Keene A52S Super Sluice. This was the second time using the Super Sluice. We sampled a few new spots on the creek, before we went back to the spot where we always find gold and set up the sluice. There was not enough current flow for the super sluice to work the way it is supposed to work. We improvised and still used it so we didn't have to classify the material before we fed it into the sluice. Maybe we didn't have enough slope for the sluice...

Beautiful day for panning 75 up here the rivers are overflowing their Banks right now hopefully in a few days they will go down far enough to find some gold👊👍😎

I went and sampled a few more spots yesterday. Everything is high around here and looks like chocolate milk. The creek is up at least 1’. I followed up on your question on my website. Waiting to here back from you.

What’s the reason for the jet dry?

Mark Mahler the gold will float. Jet Dry is a surfactant and removes the surface tension so the gold doesn’t float. Dish soap will also work.

So what are the refs for sluicing in Michigan? I read something about a $50 dollar permit and only being able to use them in July and august

carl ordiway The videos I have posted so far are shot on private property in a non trout stream. I believe the cost is correct on the permit. I’m not sure on the time frame to use them.

@carl ordiway find the rocky areas in the creeks/rivers and you should find some gold. Most of the gold I find is pin head in size. Let me know how you and your son do. Silver-sleuth.com
