THANK YOU!!! I'm doing an internship where I have to use google maps to create my own maps. You literally saved me so many hours of trying to figure out how it works.
My google maps doesn't have the same menu content. There is no "Your Places" in that hamburger menu. All the tutorials and help pages seem to be irrelevant.
This was exactly what I needed. I was lost in a google world trying to figure it out. So glad I found this video. And, now I am so excited to plan more trips. I did pause this video multiple times so that I could build a real, upcoming trip I have and it worked out great!
I'm wondering if you can help me. I made a custom map because my apartment complex is confusing. I made points and created a driving route, but when the link in shared, i don't think the use is able to start "live" driving directions, as if it were normal driving directions. Is there a way to get live google maps navigation for my custom map and points?
Is it possible to share a map or a list as a layer, so that others can subscribe to it and turn it on and off as they view their maps for any other purpose? Like when a user looks around a neighborhood while trying to find a new apartment and they say: let's now see where is the closest Restaurant X layer or closest collect box station or closest bus stops. That kind of thing.
How can you create a new Google Contact from your Google Map location where it populated the Name, Address, Phone number. I think Google had this years ago but lost the lawsuit. Any work around?

you talked about everything except what i was looking for and thats how to create a route of multiple waypoints and how to SAVE that route I've looked for this everywhere but cannot find it!
Can you possibly help me? Someone else created a Google Map for me, and shared it with me, but is there a way for me to SAVE it and MAKE IT MINE? I have used this map for 4 years - adding and updating it as needed, but the person who "owns" it is no longer employed by the same company. So how can I claim ownership of it?
Hi. In my Google Maps I have made my own categories to save my locations.... for example....RESTAURANTS, BARS, MALLS, PARKS etc... I see on the left of each category there are a few little lines, the type of lines you should be able to touch and drag each category where you want it. I'm not sure why those lines are there because they will not move for me, all it lets me do is arrange the locations within the categories. Any idea how I can arrange the categories the way I want them. They're not even in alphabetical order, not that it matters because I prefer to put the categories in order of importance to me. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you
An outstanding tutorial. I can't imagine why hardly anyone else has watched it or complimented it. I've just created a Jagger - Richards (Rolling Stones) birthplaces and schools tour of SE London. And in half an hour I'm going to jump on my Vespa and enjoy the tour using this map as my navigation. I just hop it all works. Thanks again.
thanks, but how do I use it? I set my map, now I want to use my phone to go from point a to b to c, etc, and I do not see how that is possible. Also, thanks for the video, its awesome!
22:21 They've completely changed how the share options look now. I can't seem to get it so that someone can view the map without being logged into a google account..

Great tutorial. I used the Draw a Line function to lay out a bicycle tour loop called Bike Loop. I then closed it, clicked on the hamburger>Your Places>Maps>Bike Loop>Open in My Maps>directions from (Address) (the three dots)>Step-by-step directions. The directions for the entire loop popped up, which is great. Question: Can I open this Bike Loop Map step-by-step directions in the Google Maps App on my Android device and have the App give me voice directions as I ride this route? So far, I have not been able to figure a way to do this.
I have the same questions. Have you been able to figure out since? I was hoping to use the map I created and then put it on navigation, but I am not able to figure it out.
@@fouresterofthetrees287 No worries. I found that the only way you can use the created map is Point 1 to Point 2, once reached point 2, then open the map back up again and then select Point 2 to Point 3. if that make sense.
