  • This person wanted to see if it was possible to make a giant snowball, like the ones seen in cartoons, by making a heavy snowball roll down a snowy slope. As he let go of the snowball, it started to form a giant wheel instead before crashing at the bottom of the hill.

    My dad used to make dozens of snow wheels and freeze them until the summer and then he would throw them into the pool. Super common in NJ.

      Kind of, not really - I tried this a few times but a) yes, you get a big fragile wheel, not a ball, for obvs reasons, and b) any bumps in the rim gather more snow, and cavities gather less, so they become less round, cam-shaped, and start bumping along badly - and then fragment. They didn't go very far. The video here is the best I've ever seen, brilliant!
