What I thought was crazy was when I was a teen I wanted phantasy star 4 for Sega Genesis but can you believe the cart retailed at 100 bucks on release!!!!! Blew my mind!
$300 is actually insane. The aftermarket prices are ridiculous, but even if I came across this at MSRP, I *still* couldn’t bring myself to buy this.
In my defense it was 3am and I wasn’t thinking straight lol
@@NoisyPixelNews no need to justify it, man. If you got the dough for it, go for it. I’m guilty of buying dozens of CE (just not at this price lol) and having buyers remorse almost instantly. I never learn my lesson.
@@Enidx10 Collector's editions are usually never worth it as what comes with them are usually cheap but, you're paying premium prices. I like them but, I never feel like it's actually worth what I paid for them. In this case, worth it or not, I would had plucked down that $300 had it not already been sold out as I'm a huge Final Fantasy fan as I've been playing them from the very beginning and up till XII, after which, I stopped as I just didn't like the direction it was going in.

@Noisy Pixel well you also me tinned that they were sold out of the standard and sometimes a desire to play gets the best of us.
Will look nice on display for sure but that's a steep price. I swear $100-150 collector's editions came with the same or more content just a couple of years ago. Even the price for the games is insane, $75 for ports of 30 year old games that have been re-released for every other console. I don't know what square's thinking

$75 isn't a bad price considering you're getting 6 games as that's $12.50 a game. I like it as it'll consolidate all 6 games onto 1 system instead of having to switch out games or systems.
@@saysoun752 you can get all 16 mega man games for $75 through the legacy collections. In my opinion $40 is a more appropriate price for this collection.
@@jonnathan927 They didn't remaster any of those games though, at least I don't think they did. These are remastered and even the soundtrack was redone. They even changed some of the audio. If these were straight ports / emulations, then I can see why it's expensive.
The Asian physical release has inlay cover art, it's really nice too.

Very nice! The most I've paid for a CE is 250 USD. Its always worth it. Side note, I just got the CE of trinity trigger for the PS5. There was a Manuel!

Oh the value, the value melting away 😂 tbh for 300 was expecting better quality. Couldn't even stretch to paper sleeves for the vinyl. Whole collection feels too minimalistic. But, happy that you got it and you enjoy it

If it’s worth it to them, that’s a personal choice and I would never say anything against that.
I personally don’t want to support SQE’s greed.
I live in Japan and here the Pixel Remaster doesn’t get a normal physical release. Only the 300$ coll ed.
Not to mention the whole politic of their releases. Getting it out on PC and mobile first without mentioning if or when a console release will come because they know that people wouldn’t buy PC and mobile if they could have those games on Switch and other consoles.
Now people will double dip. And I wouldn’t be surprised if they release a normal physical edition in Japan further down the line after they’ve sold all the collectors edition and enough digital copies, for a staggering 90$ btw, to get people again to pay full price and double dip.
This obvious strategy for SQE’s games, especially legacy titles, as well as the low quality nonsense trinkets in collectors editions in comparison what you got a decade ago for half the price, well as you can see I got a lot
of reasons to not buy these greedy products.
I still love the games though, like a lot!

Getting the standard edition Asian version from play asia. Thanks to coupon and store credit, I pay $67. Close enough to $60 so I can pretend I'm paying standard switch game price lol. Should be arriving in two weeks from Hong Kong.

300 dollars well spent? Lol noooo. I love the games but it may have only been worth 300 if you get all the characters. This is worth about 150 realistically.

Sad we dont get digital manuals either, I remember most of my 3ds games had a digital manual you can look at from the 3ds home menu when you have the game on.

They could've at least made the plastic figures double sided. As they are they're too similar to these acrylic standees that have been with limited editions left and right those last few years.

@@NoisyPixelNews already bought the switch version in playasia, wasn't fast enough to preorder the ps4 version on SE store, and don't want to pay reseller a premium for a ps4 copy, really wishing for a reprint of the ps4 copy
