This is an extraordinarily worthwhile lecture. I have just promoted it and will promote it a lot. Right now it is very little known, and that is most unfortunate. I had heard of the compilation of the Koran by Uthman, and that he burned the source manuscripts. Now the story is much more involved. It makes sense that "The Koran" is in fact a later, frozen image of a group of texts. I have seen one scholarly book on this before, but the present video is remarkably powerful as a legal case and it has enormous implications, in particular for the very concept of Islamic law ( Sharia ) and for all Islamic culture. Thus It is important to share out this talk and propagate the breakthru knowledge to many people, and also encourage others to make better known the video. Today, theology and history are crucial foundations for understanding and working with major international social issues. Those who do not remember the lessons of the past are doomed to repeat them.

There was a Candid Camera segment where a story was told over & over in the way he referred to.It hardly resembled the original in the last telling.
Very knowledgeable guy, no debate there, but I'd love to see him take the same critical approach to his own religion.
also there was written pieces of the quran it was just not compiled all in one.
