3:49 You sir, are a man of high culture. For comedy, IJN casemate secondaries have improved accuracy that the later Massachusetts copied years later. So those casemate mounted 140mm guns on Amagi are quite accurate. The problem is you have standard secondaries range and the 140s reload pretty slow. IJN BBs also used to fire AP shells from their secondaries too when the game launched in 2015.
Japanese OG battleships will always be my favourite tree, iconic, no shitty gimmick, just plain good from start to end and the amagi is so fun I have 4 of it
I mean, amagi as a gorilla brawler is goddamn annoying even since forgotten era where she has AP secondaries She has one of the highest torpedo protection in the game (43% is not a goddamn joke, ask yamato), stupid armor scheme that can bounce 460mm, forgiving citadel that can only get cit in long range, fast secondaries even without skill, and she still have one of the heaviest salvo in tier 8, 10 410mm gun is not something to laugh at. Sure her AA is lackluster and don't have torps, but that doesn't mean anything if they died first from your bulshit or you live long enough to laugh at them who can't kill one of the oldest ship in the game

Because i was behhind an island and so was the cruiser, i fired a broadside, as a cheap way to get damage without getting detected. Two citadel hits, devastatinbg strike, one penetration, and the light cruiser was no more. Everyone just kind of looked and went, 'yep, thats rng for you.' The light cruiser just said wow and i was left dumbfounded
I played a clan battle in my Yamato _ages_ ago where I hit three citadels on a 100% bow-on Yamato from the other side of the universe with the opening salvo. Cue their scoffing at the effects of my legendary upgrade...that I could never be bothered to grind for and still don't possess today. RNG does what it wants.
One thing I've always loved about the Amagi is how sometimes deceptive its visual dispersion is. I've fired shots that look like chop suey, look away saying "that aint hittin' shit" and see 3 citadels a few seconds later and I'm dumbfounded. She's deceptively tough, she's gorgeous to the eyes, 10 boomsticks, kinda nimble and you just can't have a really bad day in the ship. If anything, had a bad day? Go Amagi! Also, would be nice to see Manual Secondaries getting a rework. Its like switching to your alternate weapons but you can genuinely AIM the secondaries. Remember when Amagi had AP Secondaries? Now imagine sailing up to a teenage boat, who has no torpedoes and an ez citadel.
Still remember years back when my secondaries citadelled 2 cruisers for me while I was focused on another enemy, good times, ofcourse they were horrible against everything else except perfectly broadside cruisers but it was a fun novelty
I have an ancient clip on this channel of Nagato's AP secondaries absolutely chainsawing a Nicholas for 100% of its health in three salvos, no detonation. If it were reality, only the first one or two shells of each burst would have done damage as the rest just passed through the same hole. I miss those days, yet at the same time: not everything is penetrable, but everything burns.
Man AP secondaries were awesome. Had a brawl with my Yamato, guy in a Moskva came by me at 3km. The 2 AP 6 inch secondaries gave him what for. 6 shells, 30k damage. I did the math, literally got hit by 6 citadels from secondaries. I was dealing with a battleship and didn’t even know what happened until I turned to deal with the cruiser, and he was already dead
"use the gorilla build to cosplay as german battleship" ironically, gorilla amagi is one of the best tier VIII brawler battleship in the game, let that sink in for a moment
That moment when you have to build a ship not at all made for secondaries for a secondary build to make it in any way usable. Don't understand how anyone "likes" this piece of scrap...
@@jamesharding3459 There's no skill in something that can miss a T10 battleship entirely while literally shoving its barrels into their hull, and has one of the worst ranges of all battleships at its tier. Seriously, even the Germans can't miss another battleship from less than a kilometer, and those things are KNOWN for their inaccuracy. There's nothing good about this ship other than its speed, and even that isn't especially good.
I wouldn't hold your breath on that one. In the WarGambling/Lesta divorce, Lesta got the real prize, Art Department. Which means over at WarGambling, the best they can do for the most part is copy-pasting.
So after watching Initial D, I now have a much greater appreciation for the music in your videos. Keep the torpedobeats up, pay the actors, and take all the time you need to make videos. I like em all.
I mean, personally, even if the amagi is a paper ship, it's a real design that was even laid down. It's not imaginary wg sh*t. So I like those kind of real paper ships

Yuro, this channel has been a fantastic stumble for me as a new player. Thanks for these great videos.. A mixture of coaching with hilarity makes things much more memorable and easier to remember.. For example.. I was told the Ragnarok is a better shooting Amagi so I found your video - and have had surprising success harassing enemies and being more confident in my ship and what I need to do as a BB, now I almost must buy it cause Ive done so well on it with the 10 games, haha...
I think the way you show people how to play the game is quite unique and to be honest the community of newer players I think would appreciate this exciting approach to what many people would say to a boring game. The comments you spoke about toward the end about the state of the game and your views on it - even as a new player with 300 hours in 4 weeks I can totally understand and agree with what you are talking about. And I have been told that since there are so few youtubers for this game, some of them have changed the meta in how people play (favoring certain ships and the HE/AP meta, etc..) over the years. So for you to try and steer things in a better direction without even trying as hard as others I believe will make a great impact in the long run for the players who agree with you. Your approach was subtle and meaningful enough for me to make a comment about it. Keep up the great work, and these videos you make are just so damn great, even the graphics :) dont change
Finnaly someone acknowledges what a gem of a ship this amagi is. Of aroun 7k matches i play 1k is just amagi, still my top5 most played ship even tho its a tech tree t8 ship.
Solid advice as a player with over a million free xp with Amagi.. Use that extra armor in the stern like 80% of time and I mean it. Make enemies look like you're retreating, and I can advise you one thing. Never chase a retreating amagi, ever.
Amagi is definitely my OG favorite battleceuiser and the first ship I dedicated time making a skin for. I reset the tree and grind it again and enjoyed it to the fullest. It does feel like an obsolete balanced ship to me, but the shells have some hilarious citadel hits most of the time.

While away, I realised the one thing I enjoyed most and had the best memories of was playing Amagi. For some context, I started playing back in november 2017 (pre-CV rework). She is and always has been my favourite ship. So after coming back, I mostly played Amagi until I started enjoying other ships again. She's still my most played ship as of february 2024 at 391 battles and 65% winrate ❤❤❤ May she never die
I remember my best game in WoW before it turned to shit, it was with a Amagi. I managed to kill 7 ships of the 10 from the enemy team, and in the end it was me against a Bismarck but i lost because the time F*CKING ENDED!!!
KYAAAAAA AMAGI!!!! My friends didn't believe, oh how the turns have tabled (KYAAAA SKADI) Also, I run my Amagi as a secundary BB, I find it quite tanky and super flexible. Specially since the 140 secundaries are the OG massa disperssion. Massa is a copy of Amogus 140mm sec dispersion.
Amagi dispersion is real. I remember back in closed beta I fired a broadside at an enemy Amagi and my 10 shells landed perfectly on him. It looked like they flew in an Amagi shaped pattern. This was so bizarre. Of course it was like 5 or so citadels and the other Amagi died from full health. Loved the bote ever since.
One of my absolute favourites. Amagi was the first ship that gave me 60% WR for quite a while back 2017. I really dig how it looks as well. Too bad I'm kinda semi-retired to the game and she's just sitting in my port for, like, almost forever; just going back, like, maybe for a few weeks per year before getting tired of the game again. Good times..
I started playing in the CBT and I only just got Amagi a few months ago and I was shocked how much I liked her compared to the rest of the IJN BB line. Dependable guns, armor and speed. The Izumo grind made me want to go back to Amagi.
i see that the shell that hit your no 5 turret is where you dies from detonation and the that shell also cause your ship to go under 75% not that 2 that hit your superstructure
When I was still playing wows, I had all (at the time) level 10 battleships. But my battleship damage record was still on Amagi, which I kept taking out from time to time.
I do miss the good old days when it was just Amagi and North Carolina. I once sank a Ranger at near 30km in the NC with the spotter up. Miss when both Amagi and NC could really tank the hits.
I too have experienced that high health BB detonation, but only on a Yamato class ship after taking a torpedo to the cheek. I think at least two times, maybe more.
I loved the Amagi when i played it back in 2016 ... but i dont recall playing it again since then ... specially since CV rework. I may give it another try.
I think as far as paper ships go, Amagi is pretty acceptable in terms of having actually existed. She was actually properly ordered and was actively under construction when her construction was halted. Mackensen is a similar case IMO.
I'd looooove to see a Schlieffen guide by Yuro one day. Even if there isn't much to talk about cuz it's all secondaries and rarely use the main ones (at least how I play), which is kinda what He did with Mikasa already. But Schlieffen is just so much more funnier imo, that you gotta be sneaky to get in range with a battleship and then just melt em away and not just have a staring contest with the enemy at J10 from your position at A1
Yep, I've definitely seen examples of detonating at above 75%. In a game where shells can come at you from so many sources and how the server calculates damage so quickly it can absolutley happen outside of WG's word that it should no longer. maybe address detonations in a different way by making the checks for them with every hit less often.

Tbh there was a point in time where I got too angry with WG (and my crap internet/potato laptop) so I quit the game for over a year to cool off. While away, I realised the one thing I enjoyed most and had the best memories of was playing Amagi. For some context, I started playing back in november 2017 (pre-CV rework).
She is and always has been my favourite ship. So after coming back, I mostly played Amagi until I started enjoying other ships again. She's still my most played ship as of february 2024 at 391 battles and 65% winrate ❤❤❤

I remember my best game in WoW before it turned to shit, it was with a Amagi. I managed to kill 7 ships of the 10 from the enemy team, and in the end it was me against a Bismarck but i lost because the time F*CKING ENDED!!!

Also, I run my Amagi as a secundary BB, I find it quite tanky and super flexible. Specially since the 140 secundaries are the OG massa disperssion.
Massa is a copy of Amogus 140mm sec dispersion.

Amagi dispersion is real. I remember back in closed beta I fired a broadside at an enemy Amagi and my 10 shells landed perfectly on him. It looked like they flew in an Amagi shaped pattern. This was so bizarre. Of course it was like 5 or so citadels and the other Amagi died from full health. Loved the bote ever since.
It's a good thing the reason I'm playing wows is because I want Amagi and Bismarck the most 😊

One of my absolute favourites. Amagi was the first ship that gave me 60% WR for quite a while back 2017. I really dig how it looks as well. Too bad I'm kinda semi-retired to the game and she's just sitting in my port for, like, almost forever; just going back, like, maybe for a few weeks per year before getting tired of the game again. Good times..
I started playing in the CBT and I only just got Amagi a few months ago and I was shocked how much I liked her compared to the rest of the IJN BB line. Dependable guns, armor and speed. The Izumo grind made me want to go back to Amagi.

i see that the shell that hit your no 5 turret is where you dies from detonation and the that shell also cause your ship to go under 75% not that 2 that hit your superstructure

Great ship, had lots of really good games while grinding my way to the Izumo.
I’ve been detonated full health in Iowa by one shimakaze torpedo before. After that always have a detonation flag on.
When I was still playing wows, I had all (at the time) level 10 battleships. But my battleship damage record was still on Amagi, which I kept taking out from time to time.
They actually modeled a Kanin at one point in a dev blog video, so it wouldn't surprise me if a missile destroyer shows up.
I do miss the good old days when it was just Amagi and North Carolina. I once sank a Ranger at near 30km in the NC with the spotter up. Miss when both Amagi and NC could really tank the hits.
See, the first shell that hit you dropped you below 75%, then the next shell detonated you.
The IJN was one of the most menacing navy's of the era, yet outside of a handful of ships WG'ing treats them like crap.

I too have experienced that high health BB detonation, but only on a Yamato class ship after taking a torpedo to the cheek. I think at least two times, maybe more.

I loved the Amagi when i played it back in 2016 ... but i dont recall playing it again since then ... specially since CV rework. I may give it another try.
I think as far as paper ships go, Amagi is pretty acceptable in terms of having actually existed. She was actually properly ordered and was actively under construction when her construction was halted. Mackensen is a similar case IMO.
I'd looooove to see a Schlieffen guide by Yuro one day. Even if there isn't much to talk about cuz it's all secondaries and rarely use the main ones (at least how I play), which is kinda what He did with Mikasa already. But Schlieffen is just so much more funnier imo, that you gotta be sneaky to get in range with a battleship and then just melt em away and not just have a staring contest with the enemy at J10 from your position at A1

Yep, I've definitely seen examples of detonating at above 75%. In a game where shells can come at you from so many sources and how the server calculates damage so quickly it can absolutley happen outside of WG's word that it should no longer. maybe address detonations in a different way by making the checks for them with every hit less often.
