The Beatles worshipped Buddy Holly, a genius musician. Their version of this excellent and very very catchy song is a perfect recreation. Holly's "True Love Ways" brings tears every time I listen to it. It could have been written and recorded last week. It's timelessness is absolutely astounding! Same goes for "It Doesn't Matter Anymore," which I believe was not released until after his death. Just watched "The Buddy Holly Story" starring Gary Busey (surprisingly excellent and brilliant performance....which caught me totally by surprise) was released in 1978!!! And somehow I had totally missed its existence until now. He actually played the guitar and did the vocals himself. But, I digress. This is about Holly's greatness. Who knows what he actually could have achieved had he not died so tragically and so young!!!
Buddy Holly a kind and beautiful soul gone to Heaven to soon! Even though he was way before my time I love him and it hurts me his death. I wish I had lived during his time and enjoy his Art!
I lived in his time as a young kid, I remember his music on the radio. I went to a friends house one day, in February, and her older sister was crying because Buddy had died. That was my intro into his impact, I just knew the songs. 🙏 grateful for that.
I've heard of Buddy Holly all 30+ years of my life, but only recently started listening to him. And now I can understand how he influenced so many artists. Dude can rock.
Buddy had, what I read on a 2015 quote from Don McLean ("American Pie", 1971-72), was an astronomical 50 songs recorded or partially recorded already on tape by the time he passed away. An unbelievable accomplishment who was only in the business for a month less than 3 years, starting at only 19- 1/2! He had so much material, his publisher had enough to go on for 10 years after Buddy died! No telling how many songs he would have written, performed or gone into publishing if he had lived just another 10 years. If he had lived to only 32 (Sep. 1968), he would have far surpassed any other group or band in the prime Rock era, 1958-68, including The Beatles or Rolling Stones if they had tried to compete with The Master, who invented the now-standard band of 2 guitars, bass, and drums. R.I.P. Sep. 7, 1936 - Feb. 3, 1959.
Buddy Holly (In my personal opinion) could've been just as good as the Beatles if he had lived another decade... However, the Beatles really did this song justice.

An iconic 50's pop standard. Buddy Holly's vocals take the forefront over the instrumentals as he overdubs a harmony with himself. Synonymous with most 50's music, the song is in mono with some reverb giving it that classic sound.

An interesting fact: look almost just like him. I’m from Texas, have a bit of a similar voice, and play guitar and some other instruments. I remember singing a while ago and my parents and everybody said I reminded them of Buddy Holly. Then my parents looked at my family tree. There he was. On my family tree. I’m also same religion as him. I’m a baptist he was too. And I realized that my father looked like buddy too. I am happy to be related to him. I impersonate him Some information about Buddy Holly: Buddy Holly was only 22 when he died and sang since he was around 13. He was in a country and western duo with bob Montgomery for a while then he joined the crickets in late 1957. They had good songs together, such as, Oh Boy!, Peggy Sue, That’ll be the day, Everyday, and words of love. He was no doubt great at a lot. I don’t like him because he’s my relative, I like him because he has talent. I was a fan of him before I figured out I was related to him. But his band was mainly friends but he had his 3rd cousin by marriage join. Niki Sullivan was in there but then quit because he wasn’t a fan of the traveling. Then it was stuck with Buddy Holly, Joe B Mauldin, and Jerry Allison. Then the crickets got in a argument because Buddy wanted to record in New York. But Jerry and joe wanted to stay in Clovis New Mexico. Also Joe and Jerry were drinking a little bit. Then Buddy on a tour that took his life along with Ritchie Valens and The Big Bopper. Maria Elena Holly had a miscarriage and lost the baby. She was devastated and she never remarried again. February 3rd 1959 was then nicknamed The Day The Music Died. And there is some theories that Buddy shot The Big Bopper but there was no way it was possible for Buddy, Ritchie, or The Big Bopper to live. The last thing I want to say is.... R.I.P
Good to see some of the excellent pictures of The Crickets UK tour used here. Of course the song and the group's performance is excellent - not to mention the great production. A neighbour bought me a copy of 'That'll be the Day' for Christmas 1957 - never got over it!!

The first rock and roll artist to sing, play, write and produce his OWN music.....Words of Love is considered the first double tracked rock and roll song.....and Buddy's most famous fan to change the name of his group from The Quarrymen.....to....The Beatles, to honor Buddy Holly and The Crickets
Simple and brilliant.
We played the song at the funeral of my father 23-04-2021. He liked Buddy Holly
Excellent Song.
Such a wonderful and talented Gentleman.
Learnt a few days ago of Buddy Holly, Lovely style and artist I already added to my songs playlist.
RiP Master, Father of Rock and Roll.
What a classic. Buddy holly was a true talent!
An iconic 50's pop standard. Buddy Holly's vocals take the forefront over the instrumentals as he overdubs a harmony with himself. Synonymous with most 50's music, the song is in mono with some reverb giving it that classic sound.
This is an amazing song!
Just 3 major chords.What a masterpiece ❤❤❤
Hold me close and tell me how you feel
Tell me love is real
Mm, mm, mm, mm
Words of love you whisper soft and true
Darling I love you
Mm, mm, mm, mm
Let me hear you say
The words I want to hear
Darling when you're near
Mm, mm, mm, mm
Words of love you whisper soft and true
Darling I love you
We praise you with words of love, Mr Buddy Holly. Loved you since I was 13 years old and always will, like many others!

loved Buddy all those years ago, bought my wife her first record,Raining in my heart, over 55 years ago..we still love each other!! BTW do you realise that before Buddy et al the best selling record was "how much is that doggie in the window"?
An interesting fact:
look almost just like him. I impersonate him
Some information about Buddy Holly:
Buddy Holly was only 22 when he died and sang since he was around 13.
R.I.P
You should totally upload some impressions and/or covers of his songs!

Great guitar lines.
You're still missed, Buddy.
the percussion is also awesome
My wedding song. Makes me swoon.
I'm from Lubbock, TX where Buddy Holly is also from but I've been a Beatles fan my whole life. I actually never knew until today that this was originally a Buddy Holly song. As much as I prefer the Beatles' version, this is great. I should listen to him more often
I prefer Buddy's original version.
