I read this last December and it's one of my all-time favourite books. Each character stood out right away, and Steinbeck writes in a way that it's like seeing a movie. To me, the struggles of "the Okies" is still a lesson for today... the have and the have-nots, those with the least are blamed the most, the ruthlessness of those who have the most, etc. He had a point of view, but more than anything, the story is beautifully immersive. Great review!
Great review of one of my top 10 favorite novels👍🏼 Thank You. Another American writer worth reading is Jack London. I would strongly recommend 'Martin Eden' and 'The Sea Wolf' In your words..... WOW😉
This story is a lot like my father his parents and brothers and sisters. But in the 50s. With my grandpa being drunk and never having a job. He will take his kids and his wife cross country. He will make his kids work in the great fields in California why he slept off his liquor. My life was like that similar my dad will take me at 3 to wash my mom and hop on a bus and go to California to go see some of his family. It was the early eighties. I remember having no money for food just enough money for the bus ticket. I will be real hungry sometimes people will feed me. They will say well I'll feed your son but I'm not going to feed you and I'm going to sit and make sure that you don't eat any of it I remember sitting there just eating the food. My dad was a bad person in a lot of ways. He was hungry so he took a candy bar from some other kid. I remember the mother saying why is my son crying my dad said I don't know and he had chocolate all over his lips. I think I should write a book
Great reading but it's a shaggy dog. It ends with a kind gesture, but what happened to the Joads in the end? You read a long novel anticipating an interesting ending and it cuts in mid stream!
@@thebookworm6554 A) You are, dear. B) Well, that's not a bad excuse, but it's still an excuse. :) The point is that when you're not sure about a word and you're about to make a video using that word, it's best to check an online dictionary that provides a recording of pronunciation. However, on this one you get a free pass because you have likely been influenced by American English and Americans DO pronounce it they way you, albeit incorrectly. :)
@@PeterPonomarenko If I'm not sure about a word I will check it. If I didn't, it means I assume I know what I'm doing, which mostly - I do... I also speak with an accent and I don't think it should bother anyone while listening to a book review. Also, I do speak mostly American English but I also heard my share of British English. I can only assume you mean that the correct pronunciation is saying the "a" more like an "u", but this is simply an American accent. I know English is considered one language but there's a difference of dialect, and this doesn't mean it's incorrect.
Just finished it. Literally 1 minute ago. What a book!
Best novel.Thank you.

I'm sorry you had to go through this, it sounds awful! I hope you and your family are doing better now.
Thank you !

The ending just sticks. good read.
Did you like the ending? I wanted closure for that poor family and Tom!
👌🏻
Now someone needs to write the Kiwis of fury 😁
@@smileytpb I'd totally read it, as well as the bananas of rage.
@@thebookworm6554 and then... Watermelons of ire!
It's quite astonishing how many people mispronounce the word 'wrath'.
Am I one of them? Am I allowed to blame the fact the English is not my first language?

You sure its not just like, an accent difference?
@@lowkeydeetee2779 Well, that's the official excuse for it. :)
