    Had MRE for 14 days straight when training at NTC. Breakfast, lunch and dinner. Lost 20lbs. Didn't eat them after day 1. 6 years in the military helped me decide I will not be stockpiling MRES for doomsday.

    My grandpa used to fix the ones you were talking about with the crackers and tobasco when I would spend the day with him it was always a treat I loved the freeze dried peaches and you also kind of wonder how long ago was that chicken that’s in the fajita now was actually up running around lol

    Man, I remember those things.....if you cracked open an MRE and it contained jalepeno cheese spread, you were havin' a good day.

    I remember my father sending me off camping my buddy’s.... mess kit and food kit like that. We ending up fishing and putting night lines out. Didn’t have to eat that. Lol

    I’m sure the cheese spread is for the fajitas. I had C rations. They were talking about the MRE’s though.

    Anybody of the "old school" military, besides myself, recall the "John Wayne Bar" that was once found in "C" rations and transitioned to the first generation MREs? Nothing like eating nothing but those first generation MREs, and ONLY first generation MREs for forty five days straight days (I'm convinced to this day that we were being used as test subjects) to end ones military career prematurely.

    Table looks great!

    That's one of the interim ones with no hot sauce. The new ones have tabasco again but it comes in a little plastic pouch, no cool bottles anymore.
    Nothing in them that'll hurt you, until you eat them 3 meals a day for a few days. Then you'll be running to the woods - forget the shovel.

      rifles : I thought those MRE's had a substance in them that would keep you from taking a dump for a month, or is that just an old "wifestale"???.

      I think the fact that they come complete with toilet paper should be taken as a warning.

      Never rely on that. I've had some hit me quick like you'd expect, and others that after a few days will stop you up but when that trains starts chuggin you better be off the tracks if you know what I mean

    The older ones used to come with a peppermint patty.

    Do you have issues with woodchucks? If so, how do you deal with them?

    • @logcabinlooms
      @logcabinlooms  6 лет назад

      Generally when they turn up the dogs make short work of them. They are useless at rabbits, but a woodchuck they are deadly.

  • @cabotbluegill

    Your suppose to pour the cheese over them . IMO at that point give them to the dog and go get a burger. My son is in the gaurds and brings that crap home all the time . Trust me you live on them 3 days and there is not enough TP in them to clean that mess up. .

    C-Rats were better. I was in one of the last cycles in boot camp in the mid 1980's to eat c-rats. In AIT we were on MRE's
